If we had never eaten here before, today's experience would have been one and done…read more After spending Spring Break camping at Three Island Crossing and Bruneau Dunes State Park, we stopped at Shiok on our way home to Boise for a late lunch. The vibe from the waitress told us she didn't want to be there. We were barely greeted and shown a table to sit down at. We barely had seen the menu when she came by and asked us about drinks and appetizers. We asked for two glasses of ice tea and said we needed more time to look at the menu. When she came back to take our order, we still hadn't received our ice teas. She even brought us our cups of soup before the teas. Since we weren't provided water when we sat down, we waited 15 minutes to get the teas. My wife ordered a sweet and sour chicken dish and I ordered Kung pan chicken. When they arrived, they looked almost identical: deep-fried chicken in a sweet sauce. Only Kristy's dish had some slices of bell pepper, while mine had a piece of raw broccoli and some dried chiles. Tasting mine, it was definitely sweet and sour. When the waitress came around I asked if that dish was really Kung pao chicken and she assured me it was. I said the sauce was sweet and the chicken was deep-fried and was unlike any Kung pan chicken I'd ever had. She told me she would trade it out, although I was unsure what she was going to replace it with, since she had insisted that what I had received truly was Kung pao chicken. She returned a few minutes later and said the chef had made a mistake and was making the correct dish for me. It came out and was fine. But what bothered me is the server just assumed she had brought me the proper dish to begin with. If she had simply looked at it and agreed it looked nearly identical to Kristy's sweet and sour dish, she would have easily concluded a mistake had been made. Which I would have understood. Instead, she didn't believe my explanation of why it was the wrong dish. If I was the chef in the kitchen, I would have brought the corrected dish out to the customer myself and apologized personally. He took the easy way out by putting it on his waitress. This is a restaurant we love and have spoken to the owner before. We will go there again, but this was a very disappointing experience.

My daughter ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken with Jasmin Rice and I had the Chicken LoMien. We also had the Hot and Sour soup. Everything was so fresh tasting, with fresh vegetables. The servings were huge and we ended up taking home a lot of food. The service was fast and our server was so friendly. The menu is also like a book. So many things to pick from. If you enjoy Chinese/American food I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant. We will certainly be back again.

I would say this isn't a place for kids necessarily but the food is for the foodie kid(s). Not to say kids can't go there, it's just not tailored for them. Server was great. I believe her name was Jess, assistant servers were also attentive. We had the table side guac which is a must. I want to do the ceviche next time. Brought my daughter here for a date and she wasn't up for that, so next time! For dinner, I had the grilled seafood platter and daughter had the seafood chowder. Everything was delicious. Salmon was cooked well, lobster was succulent, shrimp was a little overcooked but very flavorful. The mash potatoes with le sauce was good. Seafood chowder was very tasty as well. Good for date nights, anniversaries, birthdays, etc.

The tableside Caesar was not our favorite Caesar, just lacked some creaminess, as the lemon was heavy and it was a bit on the soggy side. The clams were also not our favorite - we decided that we enjoy a wine base with Parmesan more than a tomato base. As for dinner, we enjoyed a Petit Tower, the salmon, and the Pork Carnitas, and for dessert, we enjoyed the coconut creme brûlée. All was satisfying. Our waitress was very connected and a friendly host. Our favorites were definitely the service, the bread platter, and the happy hour drinks!

Taco bell has better quesadillas than this place and who the hell told the owner that quesadillas are made with cheddar cheese? If they can't even get a quesadilla right then I can't imagine the rest of the food. I spoke to the cashier about this but she doesn't seem to care much about quality or the reputation of this place. Place was dead since I went late at night. The cook should be ashamed of himself for serving this type of food. The good reviews here are from people who obviously have never tasted real Mexican food and probably think dog food is tasty. I'm blown away by the star rating of this place. Believe me, this place is terrible.

She wasn't even worth that!!!!! The look on her face, as we walked out the door, and she discovered this, was priceless! I called on Monday, attempting to talk to a Supervisor or Manager. There was No Supervisor or Manager there! The Village is being ran by the Idiots! I have had better Food, and Service at Skippers! This place is a Glorified Fast Food Restaurant, at best!
