When you start reading reviews for IVF clinics--especially larger ones like Boston IVF--you'll see…read moreeverything from glowing five stars to stories of heartbreak. After going through it myself, I've learned that it's not really about the clinic itself. It's 100% about the team you work with. And if you're lucky enough to work with Dr. Emily Seidler and her incredible team then you've found the gold standard. We had a really difficult start at Boston IVF and came close to switching clinics entirely. The care we first received was impersonal and left us feeling completely lost. At first, we thought we could tolerate that if it got results--but over time, we realized our specific needs, questions, and goals weren't even being considered. The doctor was focused on what they assumed we wanted, rather than actually listening and working with us to maximize our outcomes. And then we met Dr. Seidler--and everything changed. Dr. Seidler is one of those incredibly rare people who is both deeply brilliant and genuinely kind. She doesn't just follow a set protocol--she pays attention. And I mean, really pays attention. When I did my first egg retrieval under a different doctor, we ended up with 7 eggs--and a massive insurance headache. We felt completely failed by the system. Then we met Dr. Seidler. She took the time to understand us--our goals, our history, our insurance limitations--and helped us make smart, thoughtful decisions that were truly in our best interest. Under her care, my next retrieval produced 22 eggs. That wasn't luck--that was her tracking how my body was responding and adjusting the protocol with care and precision. She stayed engaged, curious, and genuinely invested. She noticed things. She remembered things. She made us feel like we actually mattered--not just as patients, but as people. That kind of brilliance and humanity in one person? It's honestly a unicorn-level combo. And then there's Robin and Nikki, the two amazing nurses who make up the rest of this dream team. These women are absolute rocks. IVF is emotional, confusing, and full of logistical twists and turns, and they helped us navigate all of it with so much grace, clarity, and PATIENCE. They fielded every voicemail, email, and question (and yes, I had many!), and always responded with such kindness and patience, like I wasn't being overwhelming--even when I 100% was. Their kindness didn't come from a script--it came from presence. From actual care. And you can feel the difference. Thanks to this team, I felt supported, seen, and in incredibly capable hands at every stage. Their combination of expertise, compassion, and steadiness helped me stay grounded through a process that is anything but predictable. They didn't just guide me through treatment--they held me through it, with so much heart. And now, after three egg retrievals and three embryo transfers, I'm sitting here, 20 weeks pregnant, feeling this little baby kicking (!!) as I type--and the gratitude I feel is hard to put into words. I know I will carry this team's impact with me for the rest of my life. Dr. Seidler, Robin, and Nikki didn't just help us get here--they gave us the gift of feeling truly cared for in the most vulnerable moments. I will never forget what they've done for our family. If you're wondering whether Boston IVF is right for you--my honest advice is this: don't just look at the clinic, look at who you'll be working with. The right team makes all the difference. And with Dr. Seidler and her team, you'll be in the best possible hands. Their care changed everything for us.

In my experience she has been caring, compassionate, and always responsive to my needs as a patient. I was diagnosed with stage 3 Endometriosis and following laparoscopic surgery performed at BIDMC I was able to get pregnant from one IVF cycle with a fresh embryo transfer. My wife and I are overjoyed that following a long wait for surgery due to COVID-19 I was able to get pregnant so quickly. Thank you Dr. Seidler!

The only reason for going forward is that I do really like the doctor, however it's becoming abundantly clear that the one and only time I met with her will probably be the last time I have an appt with her, as I'm already scheduled to meet with the PA once it's all said and done. As a medical professional myself, I am truly appalled at how poorly they speak to patients, the nurse who called with instructions was clearly reading off a script like a patronizing robot, no care or compassion whatsoever. Because you can't get ahold of anyone, tips and tricks for dealing with some of the pain for injections I've had to go on Reddit to find out. Billing department are complete idiots also, have no idea what they're talking about and I will absolutely be looking at any bill with a fine tooth comb. If I decide to ever do this again, I will be transferring my care immediately somewhere else and advise others to steer clear!

The good: Dr. Elizabeth Ginsburg is smart, a direct communicator, and sets realistic expectations from the jump. I felt like we received clear, concise information from her and she didn't beat around the bush. Appointments were easy to schedule and there was great flexibility with timing - particularly for things like blood draws. We were coming from the west coast so the team really worked with us to ensure that our trip was planned for the appropriate timeframe, medications and appointments were timed to ensure the greatest possible likelihood of success, etc They were the most cost conscious clinic of the 4 we attended (which was great given that our treatments in Boston were paid out of pocket). This clinic did not obsess over trying to make patients lose weight before pursuing fertility treatments (unlike my first clinic - wasting precious time for women who are already in their 30s or 40s). The bad: The nurse, Pam, was easily the most challenging part of working with Brigham and Women's. She was slow to communicate and I found her extremely stressful to work with a times. For example, I was forced to call the on call doctor because the clinic had closed and I was not told when I needed to trigger the day before my retrieval. The next day she claimed that she was "going to call me"after hours but that I had called the on call doctor first. Generally speaking, I don't believe that patients should be left wondering what is going on with their retrieval TOMORROW MORNING after the clinic has already closed for the day. I chose to do my second retrieval at another clinic entirely because of my poor experience with Pam - in spite of all of the other positives with this clinic. My IVF results were in line with what I expected given my age (late 30s) and situation: 3 embryos, 1 genetically normal. We did end up having a more successful retrieval at another clinic 2 months later (6 embryos, 4 genetically normal, 1 live birth thus far) BUT I know that my clinic in Seattle relied heavily on the info gleaned from my Boston retrieval to come up with a treatment plan so I suspect that my second retrieval would have been better had it been done at Brigham and Women's as well. Only time will tell if we end up using the embryo currently on ice at Brigham and Women's. Overall I would recommend Brigham and Women's and Doctor Ginsburg but suggest asking for an alternate nurse if you end up with Pam.

The doctor I initially met to sell me on working with the firm, I only spoke to maybe 1 or 2 times after. 2. I had to deal with another doctor who left me in tears and had terrible bedside manner. I was also forced to have this doctor perform a procedure on me. 3. Their own nursing staff (who is very nice) mentioned all the complaints they get about certain doctors--but nothing is done by management. 4. Any medical questions you asked are put into a portal; you hear from various people, whom you never meet or speak to. Extremely unpersonalized service & sometimes would call 4 times to get a call back 5. You are never shown or explained how to use medicines but told to watch random youtube videos 6. The on call doctor NEVER responded after multiple calls the day before the procedure 7. I had two ER VISITS after my procedure that costs me thousands from the lack of care and follow-up by this organization. 8. My own primary care doctor with 30 years of experience; called the head of this company after hearing about my awful experience. Again nothing was done. BOTTOM LINE: There are many great quality service oriented providers like MGH and CCRM. Explore your options and hopefully you can learn from my terrible experience.

Fertility is personal and emotional and scary but choosing the right doctor makes ALL the difference. The best decision I made was choosing Dr. Jan Shifren at Newton Wellesley Hospital. At my initial assessment, Dr. Shifren walked me through every single step of the process and answered all the questions I could come up with. It only takes a quick google search to learn she's internationally recognized as one of the top physicians in her field of expertise and she's been published in more journals than I could count. What a google search doesn't tell you is how truly wonderful she is as a person. Dr. Shifren is so thoughtful, knowledgeable, transparent, upfront and honest. I never felt rushed at our appointments (virtual and in-person) and Dr. Shifren was by my side, from start to finish. She has a truly incredible team of nurses, technicians and administrators who keep you feeling positive throughout the journey and take great care of you at each appointment. After meeting with Dr. Shifren, I worked with her billing department to understand all the financial costs associated with the procedure and they gave me a very easy to understand price breakdown. A few months after our initial appointment it was March of 2022, and I was ready to go. At that time I started working very closely with Zuzana, her incredible nurse who was by my side for the next 2 weeks walking me through the process. Zuzana and her colleagues were very quick to respond to my emails with questions or concerns and always had all the answers right away. Once the process begins, you are going into their office at NWH anywhere from 2-4 times a week for blood draws and ultrasounds. All the ultrasound technicians are great and be sure to get your blood drawn by Grace, she will make your day every time you see her. I felt really taken care of on an emotional and physical level which is what you want and what you need to get through this process. My patient experience could not have been any better and I would highly recommend choosing Dr. Shifren and her team at NWH if you are looking into freezing your eggs. -Melissa

I saw Dr. Sakamuri for some irregular bleeding, she suggested I go back on birth control to stop…read morethe bleeding. when I told her I was not willing to because the side effects were too severe in the past, she was super rude and judgmental and said I "might as well be on prenatal vitamins" even though she knew I had no intention of getting pregnant. Perhaps there isn't another known solution for my irregular bleeding, but it's unacceptable to shame a patient like that. Like any drug, Birth control has side effects and women deserve to know the full truth so they can make educated choices on their own. Not be shamed or scared by their health care providers without proper information. Perhaps Sakamuri only cares to prescribe medications so she can cut herself a check. It's truly sad that myself and other women have to face this type of judgement in a space that is supposed to be safe for everyone to make informed decisions about their own bodies.

Dr. Ziman apparently felt uncomfortable or Just didn't feel the need to deliver facts, and we left thinking things were on track. That was almost 2 years ago. She has since " moved on"- I pray to retirement or anything not doctor related. The amount of anger / sadness I have is pretty giant. A month and a half ago, I met with a new Doctor who gave me my test results that were available 19 months ago- and it was devastating news. He had to deliver information I should have gotten 19 months ago!!! The only nice thing I can say about this place is the receptionists at the front are very sweet, and Dr.Berger ( new doctor) seems to have the guts to be upfront and honest. I want nothing more to do with this place.
