My first appointment with Des Peres Smiles was phenomenal. I have driven by this office coming home from work and didn't think much of it, but it's actually a great office and very close to my house. The staff were great -- from the receptionist Shannon to the tech Allison and finally, the dentist Dr. Nicole Niewdach. She was knowledgeable and kind, and she along with Allison were very gentle while operating on me. I felt like I was in great hands. The office was very clean as well. The hygienist is excellent, although I highly would NOT RECOMMEND this dentistry for anything other than simple cleanings. This place is very costly and the doctors don't know what they're doing or they don't care. The doctor rushed through my fill in, drilling most of my healthy tooth away, leaving me in pain worst then before I got a fill in. A week later i had to come back for the same problem, instead of observing it he went in and drilled more of my tooth away. Saying it was my bite, the problem is it's very sensitive I can't chew or eat anything on that tooth. The procedure he performed didn't fixed the problem but made it worst instead. I ONLY know this because I got a second opinion from a different dentistry. Now I have to find a different dentistry to fix the same problem when this doctor couldn't do it right the first time, nor the second. I have had countless fill in but none have ever been this bad. I should have trusted my instincts when I had a chance to leave. ONLY come here if you're prepared for a headache.

I haven't seen this doctor since moving to Chicago almost a decade ago and he still spent 10 minutes on the phone with me explaining the information to pass along to my current dentist and advising me on what needs to be corrected. I've almost always been able to make appointments within my time frames and if they dont have any appts, they will call you if someone cancels to get you in! This is no fancy chandeliered, trendy office, but its nice, clean and comfortable. Best part: they dont hassle and pester you for extra services. He doesnt put on the salesman hat of so many dental practices today. I also have tons of old dental work and over the past 25 yrs, other dentists have tried relentlessly to get me to remove old molar fillings and replace for no reason other than the "look". I never felt this pressure from Dr. D. He asked me if any were painful or bothering me, explained that if I wanted to get them replaced someday i could, and moved on. He is quick and matter of fact, yet is caring and answers questions graciously. He also sometimes answers the phone when you call! The hygienists here are professional and thorough.
