Cancelled her appointment without telling her, still sent the appointment confirmation, and then was rude and offensive to her character when they could have skipped all the theatrics and just.. called... The man dentist also proudly hates homeless people. Mid-checkup, he was saying to his coworker while inside my mouth "What a bunch of low-life's, they have the easiest job ever". They don't deserve your time and most definitely not your money. I would not recommend anyone goes here.

They knew I was coming in for cancelled appt and set me up. Rude unprofessional front desk staff, Did I personally receive any mail or phone calls? No. They used an old phone number of my husband. Never made contact. Just the "But we tried...." Grifters. Shysters. It's funny, I'd always need dental work when they carried dental insurance and when they dropped our insurance carrier, my teeth haven't had a cavity since and one they were going to repair, disappeared! Not a good faith establishment.

My whole family used to go here. We all were told that we had cavities and needed to get our teeth drilled. We went and got second opinions, and no other dentist said we had cavities -- and all of us have now lived happily without needing our teeth drilled for years. I have now had many friends go to Lisa McDonald's dental practice and tell me they were told they have cavities and need their teeth drilled. This is a standard and completely evil, unethical business practice. Please spread the word and help this business get shut down. The following is my experience with this dentist and why I decided to stop working with this practice. I left last week with only half of my mouth cleaned. Two large miscommunications defined my most recent visit. When presented with the cost of a deep cleaning, $1084, I agreed after asking if this would cover everything. The hygienist (on a Friday afternoon) seemed to be ready to call it a day and didn't promise to finish the deep cleaning that day (but said she would do as much as she could), so I agreed to treatment with the condition that I may need to return the following week. I asked to confirm that the $1084 would cover that potential follow up too, and was told "yes." The hygienist stopped after cleaning half of my mouth and told me to return the following week. When I went to pay, I was quoted a different number at the front desk, north of $1700, including my follow up the next week. I agreed to the treatment with the price quoted to me, covering everything--I did not agree to add over $600 to the tab after they cleaned half of my mouth and backing out would be awkward to say the least. The front desk then specified that the $1084 only covered what would be done that day, and that the plan was only ever to clean half of my mouth that day. I was never told that the plan was never to clean my entire mouth. I was told the hygienist would do as much as she could that day, and only return the following week if necessary. This is another miscommunication. These two large miscommunications are unprofessional, beyond frustrating, and shouldn't happen. Switching dentists halfway through a deep cleaning isn't something I expected or wanted to do, but this was the final straw. In addition to this, I had a strange experience here the previous year, where the dentist and hygienist were clearly not on the same page. A year ago, I encountered a different problem when after the doctor herself saw me and gave me her prognosis of what I need to do going forward, one hygienist (not the one I had recently) told me on my way out "You know you have cavities, right?" I affirmed that I did and they had been filled in. I wasn't sure why this came up after the cleaning was over and the dentist had already seen me. I asked if the filling was effective in covering them. Rather than answer my question, she said "your teeth are broken." I was already on my way out and the doctor didn't mention this when she talked to me, and I wondered why this hygienist brought up these issues after my visit. As uncomfortable as I felt, I did not bring this up to the dentist, instead chalking it up to the hygienist being possibly inexperienced or having a bad day and being unprofessional about it. I should have brought it up. This experience did, however, make me less eager to follow up and schedule my next appointment as eagerly. Instead, remembering this encounter, I kind of dreaded it and waited to do so. Now when I look back, I see this hygienist's behavior as odd and unprofessional. These two negative experiences are different and unrelated to each other, but after both, it is time for me to find a new dentist.

The smells of the office, the pain, the condescending remarks about my teeth, the anxiety about where the money will come from. Anything and everything about even considering visiting a dentist makes me want to take a double dose of xanax. After visiting a few dentist with no such luck in the past 2 years I asked my doctor who I trust immensely if he had any recommendations and he gave me Dr. Zora Hanko's name/number. It took me a few days to finally call but when I did I was surprised that i was almost immediately put at ease by the incredibly kind receptionist. I briefly told her my concerns and the level of anxiety I generally have and she actually listened, took note and genuinely seemed to care. This morning I woke up 4 hours before my appointment due to an already increased build up of anxiety. It turns out none of this anxiety was necessary. After sitting in the waiting room for only about 5 minutes I was brought back to the exam room by the dental hygienist. I can not remember her name but she was so sweet and kind. Then Dr. Hanko came in and since she knew how anxious I was, instead of getting straight to work she sat down next to the chair and asked me to tell her about my self, what my concerns with my teeth are and what she could do to make my appointments easier. When I was giving her my information she listened, asked questions when necessary and not once made me feel judged. Then she asked if she could take a look in my mouth. Part way through her examining my teeth I realized for the first time ever I was sitting in a dentist chair and NOT shaking with anxiety. I left the appointment with a plan of action for my crazy teeth, another appointment and absolutely no anxiety in sight. Best. Feeling. Ever.

I hate going for a filling and having my face numb for the rest of the day, so she uses a special anesthetic on me that wears off just about the time I'm leaving the office. Sometimes she is able to numb just the single tooth or area that she's going to work on. It's great. I have been seeing her for many years now, and since I became chronically ill, she has been very empathetic, accommodating to my needs, and really goes the extra mile to make it possible for me to keep up with my dental care even though it's difficult for me to leave the house. (No, she doesn't make house calls, darn). I have never been particularly anxious about seeing a dentist but that is especially true of her and all her staff. I love Dr. Hanko! So relaxing!
