I've brought a few friends and they are all now converts (one even drives nearly 25 minutes to patron it). Both times I've done walk-ins, they've been able to handle me right away and without some of the issues I've had at other places. They've also been great about booking appointments, and it isn't hard to book if you're not fussy about which manicurist you get. It's clean, and doesn't have that horrible smell that many nail salons do. It's not fancy, but it's well maintained, and they have very fair prices. It's also not overly busy and somewhat quiet, which is SO nice. I used to go to Top Queen down on Lawrence, but the service was so horrible, the place so loud, and the smell was SO bad that I couldn't do it anymore - Kimmy's was literally a breath of fresh air. I've had their shellacs last nearly FOUR WEEKS without chipping, which is pretty unreal. My last one had a few small issues (practically nothing) a week after getting it, but I was in with a friend, and the manicurist who was helping my friend noticed and got one of the other women there to touch it up free of charge. It really is a lovely salon. Not fancy, but if you're looking for cheap, good service, they are worth it.

They did an amazing job, but after pushing back my cuticles and filing them, my cuticles were still there so I asked them to cut them off. This extra step counted as a manicure so it was an extra $12 charge? Which, okay fine.. but it just added to the cost of everything. For a gel refill (+2 nail fixes since they popped off from my first appt), plus design, plus covid PPE costs, & tip, it came up to almost $150! I don't understand how people can keep getting their nails done with these prices. I was okay paying for it since I needed PERFECT nails for my wedding - and I am BEYOND happy with the outcome, but the price is keeping me from going back unless for a special occasion. (The first time I went for a full set of gel nails & 1 colour with sparkle on top came up to $90 with tip).. so almost double the price if I went to a basic nail salon. You do get what you pay for, but again, not sure how people can keep up with these prices. I would still definitely recommend going to Allure Nail Bar. The Nail Boutique is a relatively compact nail salon that still manages to squeeze in all the…read moreamenities for manicures and pedicures. Note: if you pay in cash they give you 10% off after tax. I recently visited on a weekday evening for a colour change ($12), and they had a fairly comprehensive selection of nail polishes all efficiently displayed in a tall and narrow shelf. In terms of neutrals there was plenty for me to choose from, although the ones sitting on the very bottom shelf seemed old and visibly separating out. I happened to choose a colour that was an O.P.I "Infinite Shine 2", and was told it would cost me an additional $2 because of this polish's superior quality and shine. So, my colour change was now $14. The quality of the nail polish application was OK, but I'm not sure if the "Infinite Shine" nail polish was thicker and therefore more difficult to work with as I found that the person painting my nails was painting thick layers and not painting all the way to the base of my nail, leaving a fairly visible gap of bare nail. I asked whether she was painting one or two coats as I was hoping she would be able to fix this "gap", and she initially said one coat but I guess after I asked she proceeded to paint two coats to correct the problem (sort of). I appreciated the effort, though there are still gaps and inconsistencies. Maybe it was end-of-day and dark outside, and she could not see my nails clearly? It took over half an hour to dry my nails properly! Initially after 20 minutes she came around to check on me and said that I was good to go but had to be very careful. Not taking any chances, I asked if I could stay a little longer and continued drying my nails. After 10 more minutes I inquired again as to whether my nails were ready and it apparently needed another 5 minutes. This felt like a long time to dry my nails, possibly because the two coats of nail polish were so thick. Thankfully, they were playing Marie Kondo on Netflix which was pretty entertaining. Given that it was the end of day, staff were busily tidying up the shop before closing. However, no one really cared to help me put on and zip-up my coat before I left, so unfortunately service did not feel as stellar as other nail salons I've been to. Eventually the manager did notice and offered to help, but at that point I was already all zipped up and ready to go. Overall, I do see myself going back to the Nail Boutique for convenient nail colour changes, as the space is neat and clean, they have a good selection of colours, and the service is pleasant enough.

When her other co worker came in, she sat right next to us and they started having a whole conversation in mandarin with each other. Her attention to detail is not the best, and when I was told to wash my hands, I noticed one finger had a chip already, and asked her very politely if she can fix that one corner; in mandarin she said I was meddlesome, which is pretty much the same saying in Cantonese, as she proceeded to fix my nail. Maybe if she had paid more attention to her own work and stopped talking and getting distracted with her co worker, then she wouldn't have done such a sloppy job. Now I understand why the other 3-4 nails salons on the same floor were busy, except for this one. Won't be back.
