The Looking Glass Bed and Breakfast was the perfect venue for our four days in Grand Haven MI. The owner, Brian, runs a first class operation in a charming old house, delightfully and comfortably furnished and well suited to our tastes. We had the run of the house and access to all the common areas, including the beautiful front deck with its unobstructed views of Lake Michigan. One thing that needs to be mentioned: the house sits at the top of a steep hill. The only access is to walk up 71 stairs or to take the electrically operated railway car (funicular). Brian has the only one on this side of the hill. Not a bad walk, if you are in shape. Ever the congenial host, Brian bent over backwards to accommodate our group. He was attentive to our needs and eager to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We were smacking our lips over his delicious breakfasts, served hot and promptly prepared each morning. We were given our own refrigerator space for group meals and he allowed us to hold daily Happy Hour. Enjoying snacks and a glass of wine, we enjoyed the incredible vistas through the wide picture windows, the perfect backdrop for photos. We quickly became captive to the delights of this beach front property. He even gave the okay for a small musical group to come to entertain us on our final night cookout on the deck. When evening chill settled in, we were comfortably ensconced into the commodious living room. At our invitation, he brought his wife and toddler to join us for the meal and the music. Thus we all danced, sang and partied with abandon in the face of a glorious sunset to end a most convivial and memorable vacation.

The staircase from the parking area to the inn is a little daunting, but there's a small funicular that will take you up most of the incline if you'd rather spare your calves. (Accessibility note: All of the guest rooms are on the second floor, so there are stairs regardless.) It would have been nice to have more towels and washcloths stocked in the bathroom, and leaving some lights on in the common areas would be welcome. Brian recommended some excellent dinner spots, and he makes a mean breakfast casserole. We really enjoyed our visit to Grand Haven and are already planning a return trip.

We were fortunate enough to come across this elegant bed and breakfast while searching online for a last minute weekend getaway. Our dog shares the same name as this B&B so we took that as a sign that this was our place. We stayed in the Lilley Suite. It was especially beautiful. The bathtub is perfect. I've never left a review about a bathtub. This one is just exceptional in terms of how comfortable it is to soak in. We loved our breakfast and the coffee. Patrick, and everyone we met, were welcoming and fun to chat with. The dining room is so special! We loved the plants and the ambience. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The owner and operator, Patrick, is a gift to the lakeshore community. He is a visionary artist and it is evident in everything he touches--from the way he decorated the manse, to the way he plated the food--everything has an artist's touch. Cassie, who really is the engine behind the operations, is one of the best event planners I have ever interacted with. She is cool, calm, collected and an absolutely brilliant problem solver. Together, these two come together and bring to life everything you didn't even realize you wanted or needed at your special event. The rooms are absolutely luxe, and each bathroom is equipped with an amazing soaking tub. All of my 36 guests who attended my intimate wedding could not stop raving about every single detail. I will be forever grateful to Patrick, Cassie and the entire Lilley team for taking such exquisite care of us. We will remember our wedding because it was perfect down to the tiny little details. If you are looking for a unique wedding experience, this is the place to have it!

She was very friendly and informational with the location and where to eat. Our bedroom was located on the first floor, and our designated bathroom is just a few steps outside our room. The room was cozy and comfortable. The a/c worked fine. The place was clean and had everything you need. The backyard grounds was well kept and relaxing to walk through. As for location, you can walk to a few great restaurants from this B&B. One of them is Finn's, which I highly recommend. Grand Haven downtown is about a 10-minute drive, not too far. My husband and I just stayed here for the weekend and Nicole made each part of our stay special. The room was beautiful and had plenty of privacy, but it was also nice to spend time with the other guests in the communal spaces. Since there are two bathrooms for the two rooms to share (the third room for guests has its own en suite), there's no issue with sharing bathrooms or having to wait for others to finish. And the main bathroom for guests is huge with a beautiful luxurious tub which I thoroughly enjoyed. Every morning, Nicole prepares a beautiful breakfast - super delicious and thoughtful homemade meals. This alone really drives the value of staying here. Starting the day off with a wonderful breakfast and plenty of delicious coffee is fantastic. Spring Lake itself is also very cute, with lots of good shops and restaurants nearby and in the surrounding towns. Bella Mia is a great value, and a really special experience. I'd highly recommend it, and I hope to be back soon!

Our bathroom was a work of nostalgic art. You just want to stay there all day. Among the other amenities in the house include a bistro where are you can have coffee, water, and snacks all day. The recently refurbished property is beautiful, featuring well-appointed rooms and a relaxing pool. Though technically in Douglas, the location is perfect! The inn is situated in a serene, wooded area, just a short walk to Douglas Beach. I can't overstate how great this proximity is -- perfect for a fun day at the beach and amazing sunsets in the evening. I stayed in the Birch Room, which is on the first floor, right off the kitchen. It also conveniently has its own entry door off the parking lot and another door leading to a small private porch/deck with two chairs. This setup made it feel like my own private suite, and the direct access to the pool was great. The breakfasts prepared by Eric were a highlight each morning. Each meal started with fresh muffins and a different variety of overnight oats daily. For the main entrée, I enjoyed mini quiches with potatoes, French toast with fresh berry compote and bacon on the side, and a delicious spinach quiche. I chose to eat breakfast each morning on the charming wrap-around porch, adding to the delightful experience. Eric and Tracy were exceptional hosts, attentive and welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do. My trip was amazing, and I can't wait to come back and stay at the Forest Inn again.
