The owners purchased it in 2009, and spent six years lovingly restoring the building literally from the ground up. They did not miss any detail. The restoration is meticulous, and at the same time they modernized the experience for their guests. It's hard to be excited about bathrooms, until you go into this place. Our bathroom was a work of nostalgic art. You just want to stay there all day. Among the other amenities in the house include a bistro where are you can have coffee, water, and snacks all day. The furnishings in the house are exquisitely period and in exceptional taste. The landscaping outside the house is perfectly suited to the age and style of the house, and is expertly maintained. To put it mildly, the place is gorgeous. Inside and out. And then, our hosts Debi and Greg. It takes a certain personality to run a bed and breakfast, and these folks have it all. Customer satisfaction is top of mind, and they attend to every need and every detail. They were gracious and accommodating dietary restrictions. And, to top it off, we had a great personal experience sharing favorite beverages, and we received a personal saxophone concert by Greg. If you are looking for a great place to spend one night or a few days, this is it. Look no further.

There is a keyless entry for guests, so there isn't a curfew. The room was spacious, and our bathroom was huge. We stayed in the Lake Room, and the view was gorgeous. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Deb was very accommodating to our dietary needs. She and her husband were very kind. They made themselves available for questions, etc. They also kept their distance, so we didn't feel like someone was hovering over us, which was very nice. We can't wait to go back in the spring/early fall!

We were fortunate enough to come across this elegant bed and breakfast while searching online for a last minute weekend getaway. Our dog shares the same name as this B&B so we took that as a sign that this was our place. We stayed in the Lilley Suite. It was especially beautiful. The bathtub is perfect. I've never left a review about a bathtub. This one is just exceptional in terms of how comfortable it is to soak in. We loved our breakfast and the coffee. Patrick, and everyone we met, were welcoming and fun to chat with. The dining room is so special! We loved the plants and the ambience. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The owner and operator, Patrick, is a gift to the lakeshore community. He is a visionary artist and it is evident in everything he touches--from the way he decorated the manse, to the way he plated the food--everything has an artist's touch. Cassie, who really is the engine behind the operations, is one of the best event planners I have ever interacted with. She is cool, calm, collected and an absolutely brilliant problem solver. Together, these two come together and bring to life everything you didn't even realize you wanted or needed at your special event. The rooms are absolutely luxe, and each bathroom is equipped with an amazing soaking tub. All of my 36 guests who attended my intimate wedding could not stop raving about every single detail. I will be forever grateful to Patrick, Cassie and the entire Lilley team for taking such exquisite care of us. We will remember our wedding because it was perfect down to the tiny little details. Once we arrived it was easy to call the listed number and get let in, which happened quickly despite our being after the agreed upon arrival time. Skylar then showed us around and left us to enjoy the room. She had their two children with them which was fun and gave the space more of the local family feel. We didn't hear them during the rest of our stay so no worries about late night cries etc. The house is beautiful and our room had a private bath with a huge jacuzzi tub. There was a window ac unit as well as a fan so we stayed comfy at night and even outside fireworks weren't too noticeable. We were a handy 10 minute walk to a multitude of restaurants and cute parks plus the river walk. There was also a parking spot at the house so we could leave the car and not worry as we walked in the city. The breakfast was especially tasty and Skylar made extra effort to accommodate our dietary needs by making something totally different for me (veggie hash with toast and yogurt all vegan). The fruit, juice and coffee for all were tastefully laid out and made for a refreshing breakfast experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would stay here again!

The bath products are provided and smell amazing! I actually wrote the name of the brand down as I am going to order some for home. We really appreciated having an extra power strip in the room. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with local products. Cinnamon raisin bread French toast, bacon that was perfectly prepared, fresh fruit, orange juice and hot coffee. I look forward to returning to The Lafayette House!

My husband and I just stayed here for the weekend and Nicole made each part of our stay special. The room was beautiful and had plenty of privacy, but it was also nice to spend time with the other guests in the communal spaces. Since there are two bathrooms for the two rooms to share (the third room for guests has its own en suite), there's no issue with sharing bathrooms or having to wait for others to finish. And the main bathroom for guests is huge with a beautiful luxurious tub which I thoroughly enjoyed. Every morning, Nicole prepares a beautiful breakfast - super delicious and thoughtful homemade meals. This alone really drives the value of staying here. Starting the day off with a wonderful breakfast and plenty of delicious coffee is fantastic. Spring Lake itself is also very cute, with lots of good shops and restaurants nearby and in the surrounding towns. Bella Mia is a great value, and a really special experience. I'd highly recommend it, and I hope to be back soon!
