The beach is right across the street
    Victoria-Theresa C.

We visited this little B&B after a friend gave us a gift certificate to stay here for a wedding gift. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice our stay was! Brian, the owner, was friendly and helpful, offering us recommendations for places in town and chatting with us upon our check in. The house is set up on a dune, so it has beautiful views of the lake and the beach right across the street. Due to its location, it does have a lot of stairs up, however if you are able to get up a few steps, there is a small trolley car that can take you up and down the rest of the way. Brian told us that they had renovated and redecorated much of the interior, and it showed. I loved the coastal feel of the house, perfect for its location in this little beach town! Breakfast was served in the morning with Brian making an egg casserole dish. The offerings were certainly not as extensive as a hotel breakfast, but they were tasty and filling. Overall, I was very happy with our stay and we are excited to return!

We were fortunate enough to come across this elegant bed and breakfast while searching online for a last minute weekend getaway. Our dog shares the same name as this B&B so we took that as a sign that this was our place. We stayed in the Lilley Suite. It was especially beautiful. The bathtub is perfect. I've never left a review about a bathtub. This one is just exceptional in terms of how comfortable it is to soak in. We loved our breakfast and the coffee. Patrick, and everyone we met, were welcoming and fun to chat with. The dining room is so special! We loved the plants and the ambience. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The owner and operator, Patrick, is a gift to the lakeshore community. Cassie, who really is the engine behind the operations, is one of the best event planners I have ever interacted with. She is cool, calm, collected and an absolutely brilliant problem solver. Together, these two come together and bring to life everything you didn't even realize you wanted or needed at your special event. The rooms are absolutely luxe, and each bathroom is equipped with an amazing soaking tub. All of my 36 guests who attended my intimate wedding could not stop raving about every single detail. I will be forever grateful to Patrick, Cassie and the entire Lilley team for taking such exquisite care of us. We will remember our wedding because it was perfect down to the tiny little details. It was just an awesome place to stay. Tony and Michelle were born to do this. From the moment we walked in the door, it was clear that this was going to be a great weekend. They both know how to walk that thin line between being ultra-professional and being so welcoming as to feel like long lost friends. Tony and I talked several times the day of arrival as we were a bit delayed in our travel and each of my several phone calls to him were promptly answered with a cheerful, "no problem... we'll be waiting for you." And sure enough, the minute I walked through the door, he was there with a handshake, and some great advice for a late-night dinner. Old-school charm with new-school technology from the door codes to the free (unbelievably fast) Wi-Fi, I literally don't know what else I could've asked for to make this any more comfortable than it already was. They're in a beautiful location with gorgeous parks within a stone's throw and walking distance to downtown (right down the road on Washington Blvd) and the water. It couldn't have been more convenient. The accommodations were amazing. Five bedrooms to pick from, each with their own charm. We picked ours because of the large private bath with an old fashioned claw-foot tub. The bathroom had great water pressure, complimentary high quality shampoos and body washes, and there was even a built-in overhead heater to keep you from getting cold after a shower. The place could not have been cleaner if I cleaned it myself. Either they buy new towels and linens for every guest that stays there or they have some trick up their sleeves they should teach to the rest of the hospitality industry. The sinks and tub didn't have a single water stain. The bedroom and bathroom were both immaculate. I guess that's just the best way to describe it without continuing to go over every detail -- immaculate. Beautiful woodwork through the upstairs hallways and there wasn't a sign of wear anywhere. They clearly care about not only their guests but about this beautiful home away from home. Three common rooms and a beautiful front porch give you a choice as to where you want to socialize, meet other guests, have a coffee, do some work, just relax, or play any number of their countless awesome games (such as the biggest wooden scrabble board you've ever seen or a 40-year-old hand-carved chess board with 10-inch hand-carved pieces for instance) while you're waiting for others in your party to get ready to go out. Free snacks galore (about a dozen different ones to pick from), a refrigerator to use for restaurant leftovers you might bring back, beautiful plateware and silverware, and interesting little furnishings from long past, such as an antique wooden stereoscope viewer and a radio which is guaranteed to be the oldest one you've ever seen, are all a part of the experience. Which brings me to my favorite part -- the breakfast, which is outstanding. The first morning, we were presented with fresh berries served as an appetizer. And I mean a HEALTHY amount of FRESH, BEAUTIFUL berries. The next course was some hand-made warm, cinnamon, pear crumble thing. And the final course was an egg, sausage, and cheese pastry with fennel. Several of them. Per person. The next morning started again with what must have been hand-chosen berries, but this time we received a different delicious crumbly warmed first course followed by this amazing herbed-egg dish which had some sort of baked Parmesan topping. I remember taking the first bite, and then I remember my extra-large oval ramekin (served hot straight from the oven) being clean enough to put back in the cupboard. Everything else between those two points is fuzzy. And all the coffee and juice you can drink. We did not leave that table hungry either morning. And my mouth has been is watering recalling it for this entire paragraph. There's an old saying that when you find something good you have two choices - keep it for yourself or share it with the world, and I don't get to Grand Haven enough to in good conscience keep it for myself. Enjoy!

My husband and I just stayed here for the weekend and Nicole made each part of our stay special. The room was beautiful and had plenty of privacy, but it was also nice to spend time with the other guests in the communal spaces. Since there are two bathrooms for the two rooms to share (the third room for guests has its own en suite), there's no issue with sharing bathrooms or having to wait for others to finish. And the main bathroom for guests is huge with a beautiful luxurious tub which I thoroughly enjoyed. Every morning, Nicole prepares a beautiful breakfast - super delicious and thoughtful homemade meals. This alone really drives the value of staying here. Starting the day off with a wonderful breakfast and plenty of delicious coffee is fantastic. Spring Lake itself is also very cute, with lots of good shops and restaurants nearby and in the surrounding towns. Bella Mia is a great value, and a really special experience. I'd highly recommend it, and I hope to be back soon!

I'm glad we took the risk. We booked online the day of our arrival into GRR. We received a text letting us know the room was available early & we could check-in anytime. As we were spending the day in Grand Rapids, we didn't get to the hotel until about 10pm, still a nice gesture. On arrival, you'll see the main hotel. Behind it are several motel- style buildings, forming a square. The glass doors open to the courtyard (inner square), and the main room doors open to the parking lot. Being early March, there was no need to worry about bugs being attracted to exterior lights and, in turn, getting in the room on entry/exit. The room was nice & cool on arrival & it smelled faintly of bleach. The temperature controls worked well. The bathroom was chilly. The toilet had some movement & the seat was an odd fit. Everything was functional. Next came the cleanliness check: bed & bath clean. There were fuzzies and debris in the odd nooks, the areas where a broom/vacuum can't reach. It baffles me why rented rooms are designed in difficult to clean layouts. Anywho, everything else was clean. There was also already water in the coffee maker. An accidental discovery on hitting the button when placing items on the table. The furniture is well-placed. No stubbed toes. The whirlpool is HUGE & was cleaned well. The sheets were crisp & we slept well. With the single level buildings, there were no noise concerns from above. Again, the temperature remained even. We didn't eat the complimentary breakfast.

I went to the front desk to ask about possibly staying inside the hotel they advertise and although she wasn't rude per se, her cookie cutter corporate response didn't exactly soothe my anxieties. 100 bucks more to stay INSIDE? Here's an idea, maybe post an actual photo of the shitty heroin hotel you have on the premises. See screenshot for the actual advertised building. She also then made a comment about how "some people like it". Okay well, I don't actually care about those people because I specifically came in here to tell you I don't like it. Water in bathtub has trouble training, paint is basically melting off the wall. Probably wouldn't stay again. DO NOT BE FOOLED.

The pool was a bit cloudy and seemed dirty. But worst of all, on the second day (after we'd already unpacked our family of 4 including 2 little kids), the bathroom light went out. When I looked up, I noticed the light fixture above the shower was full of brown water and dripping into our bathroom. When I called the front desk, the employee was very nonchalant despite the apparent safety hazard. He checked upstairs but the room was occupied, so he couldn't determine the source of the leak. He just kind of shrugged his shoulders, like oh well.... He said the best he could do was offer me a new room on the second floor (we were on the first floor and keep in mind there is NO ELEVATOR at this hotel). So, concerned about the electrical hazard, we chose to move all of our items up one floor. When I asked the employee if we'd receive at least a partial refund for the major inconvenience impacting our 3-night stay, he said he could talk to management but it was "exceedingly rare" to receive any sort of monetary compensation. When he did talk to management, he reported back they would give us a $50 credit - about 1/3 of the cost for just one night's stay. In my opinion, this is totally unacceptable and a laughable "apology" for such a major problem with our stay. At bare minimum, management should have refunded one night. But that's fine, I'm happy to leave this negative review for others to read and I will never stay at this hotel ever again. Management, DO BETTER with customer service.
