Besides showing continents, it has drawings in the margins depicting scenes of native animals and native people, many drawn as one might expect in 1719, as fearsome creatures in a strange new land. The map comes mounted on a pair of beautiful cherry wood slats, a presentation style which I feel is more authentic than a common picture frame. And the strap has only a one year warranty, which is completely inappropriate for this type of equipment. Customer "support" was of no help, neither offering to replace the swivel connector or replacing the product. PLEASE: don't use this product without somehow tethering the camera to the strap to avoid failure of the swivel and failure of the screw attaching the swivel to the camera. And consider purchasing something of better quality and design.

I called several established radio supply houses and got everything from the rude brush-off to the honest "never heard of it". This was not the case with G&L. From their experience installing SSB ground planes, they knew immediately what I was asking for and why it was so important for preventing DC ground return to a metal hull caused by the VHF antenna cable. They also knew that it was not a common item in the civilian market, but was more likely to be found in military circles. They didn't have the part, but we had a nice discussion about their use of the same type of part in grounding SSB systems and offered some valuable thoughts on what a VHF-version of it would need to feature. My search for a part continues, but I had to pause and pay my regards to a company that has made a great first impression. G&L mainly services Furuno products (90% of their work), along with some iCom and other brands. Based on this experience, I would not hesitate to work with them in the future on anything Furuno or SSB-related.
