I love the community! Every time i go in i'm always greeted with high energy (which I love!). There are no one there that judges your size, which makes me feel comfortable. Trainers there are super nice but what stood out was trainer Danny, he is an amazing, positive person. My goal was to down size my hips and increase my metabolism. This gym is so awesome and not like any other gym I've been with before. The vibe and environment is really positive and motivating. The staff and trainers are super friendly, engaged, motivating and helpful. Love the facilities and equipment here, and the staff (especially Buck) is great! They are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. When I walked in, they took me on a tour and, without any pressure, told me about the benefits of joining and what the club could offer me. A personal trainer comes with all memberships regardless of level, and when I missed my first session with a trainer, not only did Mike put me through a workout after his shift ended, Buck gave me a plan for working out on my own until I could reschedule! I drive by this a couple times a week and thought from the website that it'd be a good place to start working out again. After reading the reviews on this place (50/50), I don't want the headache of being charged extra fees, feeling disrespected from the staff, or not being able to use my free pass. I just called to see if I can come in tomorrow with my free pass. I was put on hold for 8 minutes and eventually hung up on. I called back and was greeted rudely saying "I put you on hold for a reason" Yeah. No thanks. PLUS how the spokesperson responded to someone's review about how they felt was insulting.. People are allowed to say what they feel and if that hurts your feelings you shouldn't work directly with the public. I'll gladly pass on this gym. read more

Alright, here's the skinny. My name is Anna, and I've been going to this gym since May 2014. The service with this gym is nothing like I have ever experienced before! I've made the greatest achievements and friendships I think I have ever made just by being in this community. The trainers relate to each of your needs and apply the necessary tools for you to change for the better. When I first came for my tour, I signed up on that same day. Within a month I began training with Austin and he helped me to lose over 20 pounds in 3-4 months, including helping me train in their Spartan Challenge this last Fall. Following that, I decided to switch it up and take training with Mike from the Spartan Challenge and taking his 7pm classes during the weekdays. Now I am in a new challenge there, but have recently come up with some back problems that occured from before I joined the club. Mike, Elaine, and multiple other trainers (Ashlie,James, Mallory, Dylan, Kelso, Josh) have helped me modify my workouts for my comfort, help me with stretching techniques, provide me with the proper supplements, and also encourage me to keep on moving when I feel my pain has brought me down mentally. Elaine is an excellent trainer to go to. She has been helping me tremendously with the safety of my back and taking care of my body from the inside, out! As far as the classes at ECA go, let's get real on these. I regularly attend Mikes classes at 7pm and they always have the perfect balance of weight lifting and cardio, and some kick ass music to get you pumped up. After i lost my weight with Austin, Mike has helped me gain muscle, and beging to sculpt and tone. I have benefitted very much from this class, and I would highly recommend this class to anybody who just joined the gym. Kelso's deadlift class. I don't think I've ever learned so much in my life. Being somebody who gets frustrated with my own form, I recommend this guy to anybody who is looking to lift heavy! He has got great insight to the proper forms of deadlifting down to the fine details. Josh's Fitlab class. I have unfortunately only been able to attend one of his classes recently, due to a complicated work schedule. But I must say that if you would like to get your arse kicked, this is the class to go to. I came out of that class ready to go back in. But during my visit to this class, Josh helped me adjust my squat forms to get the best out of my workout as possible. On leg day of course! Everyone's favorite day. All in all, there's no gym I would rather be at. Take it from somebody who never worked out before last May! These people care about other people, and want you to get in the best shape that you can. They always check in to see how I'm doing and making sure I have what I need. So all you haters get to steppin' and come join the rest of us in our fit journeys! read more

This is definitely my favorite gym. Trainers are amazing! Fit lab now called called champions club if definitely worth it! I have done it them since I have been a member over 2 years ago! One of the trainers Daniela is amazing and will kick your butt definitely when needed! Weather she says hi or gives you a high five she is amazing at everything! I have been a member for a little over 3 years now and recently decided to start working with a personal trainer. I have been working with Danny for about 3 months now and can say he has significantly helped improved my fitness and my overall lifestyle and way of life. From a fitness perspective I have really noticed an increase in strength as well as muscle definition primarily with my back, glutes, and arms. He is excellent with modifying movements and exercises to accommodate injuries, joint issues, and muscle soreness. He listens to what your fitness goals are as well as life goals and nutrition goals and creates an individualized plan to help you reach them. If you are looking to work hard, listen, learn, and have someone hold you accountable in reaching your goals he is your guy! read more

Still charged me for personal training in April when they were NOT open. $260 For what? "We have videos on our website" keep in mind that EVERYONE has access to those FREE videos. So why charge us still? I asked for a refund and was told they don't do that. Gave my friend her refund for April with no questions asked. So why not be fair across the board? You gave a white woman her money back But when it comes to a person of color management keeps hanging up the phone or promising to get back to me. It's been two weeks and they keep dodging me. Find Another Place! It is extremely crowded, with mostly older washed equipment. Half there equipment is utilized only by paying additional charges to enroll in classes that you may not even want. Then lastly they have horrific billing issues which will lead you to cancel your membership, and then bank account from associated issues. read more

If you are looking for a gym that truly cares this is the spot. Emerald City has an amazing staff that are friendly, helpful and approachable. I moved here from a big gym where I was just another paycheck walking in the door. Emerald City looks at you as a person not a paycheck. I train with Mike. He is amazing. I truly appreciate his motivational, helpful attitude. I have lost inches (okay, I admit it, I just did my own happy dance) thanks to him. The first day I started he mentioned that some amino acids and a daily multivitamin would be great choices. I wasn't ready to put out the money for it and he totally understood and didn't bring it up again until I started talking about how sore I was from the training sessions. He recommended the amino acids again and they really helped. It wasn't a pressured up sale, just someone truly trying to help. My 6 year old son attends the child care. Everyone is so super kind and nice. He loves it. They also have a kid's Zumba class on Monday evening. Another gym perk is the great kid hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. My son can go swimming, play racquetball, play basketball or run on he track. He LOVES it. Go talk to Austin (who signed me up) and he will hook you up with a gym membership you won't regret! read more

The workers are very nice and welcoming. The personal trainers are very knowledgeable and encouraging. DJ was chosen as my personal trainer and I couldn't be more happy with my outcome. He constantly tested and pushed my limits to an incredible degree. If you're looking to get your butt kicked, but leave feeling extremely satisfied then DJ is your guy. Such a bad gym. They pressure so much. This turned all my friends away from joining the gym. They call and bother you almost daily after you use a guest pass. I can as a member for a year and just cancelled. So happy to be out of that contract. There are much better gyms for the same cost. Another reason I chose to cancel my membership is because they continued to take the membership dues during the corona virus quarantine. Even though they were not open for business. That was really frustrating. I know that planet fitness stopped taking money. But not emerald city athletics. Very unprofessional workers. They just want to sell you stuff. Stopped in for a tour, was told it would take 30 min., and that they are results oriented and if I was just looking for the cheapest gym, I probably wasn't a good fit. And they gave me the up/down look as they asked if I had ever been to a gym. Well, maybe they should't have a big sign out front that says $12 a month!?? I have never belonged to a gym before and was very hesitant to join. Most places you walk in and they give you a 5 minute tour and a 2-3 day pass and tell you to come back. I got a 30 day pass first off and when I walked in it was very personal. The first thing they did was set up an appointment that worked for me. I went in the next day and asked "silly " questions like will people stare at me, how will I know what to do, are the trainers mean...etc. It was GREAT! I took almost all of the 30 day trial to make sure I was really going to commit and go no a regular basis. There was no pressure to buy a membership until I was ready. I joined with my family and we go often. I am always greeted with a friendly face and they thank me when I leave. I meet with my trainer once a month but she is always available to answer questions whenever I have them. This has by far been the best experience I could imagine. I got the guaranteed or my money back plan because I figure it a business is willing to offer that, they must have a lot of faith in themselves and their program and maybe even in me because I am pretty sure that they don't want to start giving money back!! I would like to give a shout out to Brandon, my trainer at ECA. I've been working with Brandon for a few months now and his knowledge and experience have done wonders for my ailing knee. The progress we've made in a few short months is mind blowing. Brandon is super supportive and encouraging during my workouts. He definitely knows his stuff. If your looking or even thinking about working with a trainer ask for Brandon, you won't be disappointed. So I wanted to update my review because Brandon unfortunately left the gym and the cool part was he was able to choose the trainer that would best suit me and my fitness goals. Letting him choose is awesome. I've been at other gyms where management reassigned the trainer. This can be very frustrating. Since Brandon left, I've been working with Danny. Another top notch trainer. Super knowledgeable in nutrition and fitness. He understands my fitness goals and pushes me to be sure I meet them. I had a hard time with emerald city athletics from the beginning. Not that its not a nice gym but the way they do business is very dishonest. They have hidden fees that they don't explain to you at all, you will end up getting charged extra without you knowing about it until its too late. Also they over charge for signing up. I have worked out here since April 2016, I was at LA fitness before. Has all the equipment you need, not to crowded, good stuff. I think Emerald City athletics is one of the best gyms I have been to. They have everything I need. I have never felt "pushed" by trainers or others to buy things. I in fact liked the process they went through upon membership because it was focused on my needs and consultative. I have always been athletic but never used a trainer before. Rusty Gebhardt has been great the past few months working with him. I am starting to notice some serious gains. I would recommend him to anyone because I know he keeps it focused on your personal goals. As a person who has been lifting for years I appreciate the feedback I get from trainers. Ryan has come up and helped me from time to time as well. I have always felt that their feedback has come from wanting to help me become healthier and reach my goals. I was against having a trainer for a while but now I am happy I decided to pay the extra, whats more important than staying healthy? Plus the other members are low key and quite friendly. This place has a much better vibe than LA fitness does down the street. This gym is the worst they put up a 10 day free trail & when you walk in they pressure you to join the same day! They have a bunch of hidden fees that make no sense because there doing construction they are trying to have to members pay for it. There's not one person I've spoke to about this gym that hasn't had a difficult time. I would advise anyone looking for a great gym DONT GO TO EMERALD CITY! My garage is better than Emerald City. On my contract they had someone else's information then had the nerve to charge me as if I was getting there messages that are suppose to be a curiosity. If they had someone else's information on my contract it could happen to you too and some random person will have your information and you'll be charged for appts you didn't set!!! This used to be my favorite place to be, away from home. Over the last couple years I've watched it go from a decent gym to a wreck. The floors in the weight rooms are horrible - bubbling and becoming a serious trip hazard. The 1 row machine available for everyone to use has to have a paper towel shoved in to keep the resistance up. The dumbells are missing rubber-sure it doesn't affect the use but members pay a lot of money in dues, fees, and "enhancement fees". The very least they could do is keep the equipment good. The trainers - some are ok, but I've watched the best walk out due to various reasons. But for as much as the members pay for sessions, the trainers should be getting paid more than they do. Maybe they'd stay if they felt valued by their employer...but that's none of my business read more

Cons: Aggressive selling. Lots of pressure to join the gym by back office trainers. Almost feels like they get paid by commission only or are dramatically pressured by upper management ( 7 day free pass I used to try out gym). Literally every day the same trainer when she saw me tried to sell me the membership or convince me to sign today or prices will go up. So many sales pitches. Offered free training sessions but those sessions became another place to sell me something instead of teaching me how to use various weights- she tried to convince me to buy champion membership so I could be properly taught how to use the heavier weights as that is not part of her free training sessions. Gym always busy and packed and amenities close at 10pm min-Friday and earlier on weekends so definitely not 24 hour gym. Lots of hidden costs like initiation fee and biyearly costs. Membership cost expensive in comparison to other open local gyms. Masks are required no excuses. Pros: well equipped, free parking, amenities like sauna, hot tub & pool all clean but you have to upgrade membership and pay extra in order to use them. Front office staff and champion staff are super friendly and not focused on selling you anything. Gym is fairly clean. Champion Classes worth the time but pricey. The customers attending gym are fairly friendly. Music everywhere. Also have basketball court and water massage chairs but again this costs extra and one needs to upgrade their package. read more

I just realized that this place is still charging me for a membership I haven't used in well over 3 years. I called them and asked them to cancel it but they wouldn't and said I needed to come in in person (I live in another state) or needed to send a certified letter and the barcode of a membership card I obviously no longer have. I was never asked to resign on for my membership so they would apparently just charge me indefinitely. I've called several times and asked to speak with someone about this but can never get past the receptionist. They have charged me well over a thousand dollars for something I'm obviously not using years later and will continue to charge me despite me asking for my membership to be cancelled. read more

Brandon at Emerald City Athletics is an incredible trainer. He is excellent at motivating you to be your best and push harder. I can honestly say that since having him as my trainer I have seen a dramatic increase in my stamina, strength and health. I know plenty of people who dread going to the gym to workout out but I look forward to my training days with him. He is a wealth of fitness knowledge and has a wonderful personality that makes the experience very worthwhile. I have now been going to this gym for roughly 6 months. I go Monday-Friday at 6am. About 2 months in to joining the gym I signed up for Fitlab. Ryan Is my instructor for our Tuesday/Thursday 6am sessions, he comes up with good routines that are different every time which is a good thing as repetitive motion doesn't get you anywhere. He is also really good at keeping you motivated and making sure you are doing proper technique during the class. I would definitely recommend fitlab! Best decision ever! read more

I absolutely love this gym. It has a great environment and all of the employees are caring and make you feel like you can accomplish your goals. There is a ton of options for equipment to use and the weight room has everything you need to get your lift on! I also love the track that circles the basketball courts because it gives you a great place to run and something interesting to look at! Plus the pool is huge and there is always room to swim laps! The fitness classes are great too! I attend fit lab on a regular basis and the workouts are always intense. Josh is great at planning a workout that specifically targets certain areas of the body. He is also great at providing extra help when you need it and checking your form during exercises to make sure you are doing them correctly. I love leaving that class and knowing I had a great workout. If youre someone that doesnt know where to begin, fit lab is great because the workouts are planned for you and you get a chance to experience exercises that you might not have ever done before. I also train with Mike and he truly helped me to meet my goals. Not only did he help me to lose almost 30 pounds, but he has also helped me to gain more confidence in myself. He was also great in teaching me while we had our training sessions so that I don't feel lost in the gym anymore. I can walk in and plan my own workouts, push myself, and plan a meal plan confidently. I really couldnt have done everything without Mike's help. I would highly recommend this gym. I feel super welcomed every time I come in and all of the trainers are great about answering questions or giving you a hand if you need it. Been with the gym for about 6 years. The first 1.5 years I was in a contract with the total average cost was $13/month. My 2nd 1.5 year contract averaged out at $17/month. After this they didn't do a contract anymore and I paid monthly $19/month and they slowly crept it up to $23 over the last 3 years without telling me when still offering new members $19/month. Then this year (Dec 2017) they charged me a supposedly "enhancement fee" of $53.75 which I never had to pay before for the last 6 years including 3 years with the monthly plan and this was never disclosed to me. This gym has unethical practices and tries to hit you with fees and raise your monthly dues without ever telling you. The gym equipment is fine, but the billing practice is highly unethical. I recommend you stay away from this gym. read more

One of the WORST experiences I have EVER had with a business. I am the type that is usually too shy to complain but this place made life incredibly difficult for my daughter and I for nearly 9 months, and I would hate for someone else to have to go through what I went through. I'll try to make this short- So one trainer in particular pressured me to the point where I was extremely uncomfortable, then tricked me into signing up for sessions without saying a single word of it being non-refundable. Towards the end of the conversation with him, I told him that I was still unsure if I would be able to afford it and he told me not to worry, and that he will give me a call the day before the payment goes through to get a go or no-go from me. Well that call never came. Instead, the day after I got my financial aid from school (which I DEPEND on to support my daughter and I), ALL my money from my account was gone. I called them right away and they wouldn't do a single thing. In fact, after that first payment went through, I had 2 more, and the gym DID NOT stop those payments from going through. I begged. I cried. THEY DID NOT CARE. I couldn't pay my bills, went to food banks, and I was so close to losing my housing. I cried my eyes out when I couldn't get my daughter much of anything for her 3rd birthday. I'm tearing up as I'm writing this. I'm not saying everybody at this gym is terrible. In fact, the facility is decent. But PLEASE just be very cautious of the staff there. read more
