The sheer variety of isolation exercises possible here should excite any intermediate/advanced lifter! * incredible, well designed space surrounding the machines for free-weight activities, bars for deadlifts and old fashioned bench presses, enough high quality ROGUE benches to go around. * an upstairs area which provides additional machines, as well as empty space for stretching, personal stretching, etc. * limited selection of cardio machines that face outside This gym is very clearly targeted to serious fitness enthusiasts and is probably not a great place for the cardio-only half-asses lifting crowd. The price tag does help weed out the unserious, and I appreciate it! Thank you Kim and Jordan for creating such an amazing space, with fantastic energy and amazing equipment. This is a pretty awesome little gym. You won't find anything like tanning beds, organized classes,…read moreor even employees at Kenmore Fitness, but what you will find is a well-stocked floor, 24-hour access, a great price, and enough free-weights, racks, machines (maybe too many) and cardio equipment to help you achieve whatever goal you may have. The gym is separated into two levels. The ground floor has most of the machines and free-weights and the upper floor is all cardio with treadmills, ellipticals and bikes. I would say that the ground floor borders on cramped, but there is hardly anyone here so it's not often a problem. I have never had to wait for equipment or weights and have never had to fight for space. I usually go 3 times a week between 6pm and 9pm. The gym is pretty clean, but Jamie, the owner and person you'll sign up with, is the only employee, so that is largely a result of respectful patrons which is an awesome change from other gyms I've been to. Jamie does a good job keeping the paper towels, cleaning spray and bathrooms stocked. The gym is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week which is pretty awesome, especially because past 9pm there has never been more than 1 or 2 other people in the gym with me. One issue I have is about one of the bar bells. There are 2 olympic barbells total, they're located near the Squat Rack and Power Rack and 1 of those barbells is incredibly old. That combined with the old and well-worm 45 pound plates makes it frustrating trying to slide them on the bar. This is a minor complaint though, as the other barbell was just recently replaced so I know Jamie has his eyes on it, hopefully he'll replace the other soon! I knocked a star off of this review because I think that the floor has about 20 machines too many. I'm not sure if the old location had more space or something, but there are so many damn machines lining the walls taking up space that It's hard to even find an open spot to watch form in a mirror. I would understand if the gym was catering to a more casual crowd, but this isn't planet fitness. A vast majority of the people I see at the gym are using free-weights and barbells so I'm really not sure why there needs to be so many machines. Some of them are even old and poorly maintained, many have their cords and pulleys worn down to metal and the movement isn't smooth. So why have so many machines? Not many people are using them and I feel like they could be sold for more than they're worth sitting in the gym getting hardly any use. Sell them and spend that money on a new squat rack or two and a couple more 45's and 35's. Overall I like Kenmore Fitness. Good crowd of people, good owner, enough equipment (until more people decide to sign up), and a good price (I pay about $30 a month for 2 people). I would love to see the floor managed a bit better and some of the machines nixed, and I'd love to see a new squat rack and a few more plates, ESPECIALLY a new barbell, but Kenmore Fitness gets the job done.

A friend recommended that I try the Armory out and I could not be happier that I did. The trainers are the best of the best and so accommodating and patient. They've given me the courage to try out new exercises that I had never considered and have helped me scale my workouts to find what works for my body to get really strong and stay strong. Since then, they have followed him up to his new gym! I swung by a couple of Saturdays ago and did a 30 min workout here with the guys. I didn't know what to expect, especially since I have never been to a crossfit gym before. Our workout that morning was more conditioning exercises and I actually enjoyed it! We did the 9 AM workout with Coach Anna. I struggled with push presses and Joel and Anna were there to walk me through the movements when my form was not correct. Thank you! Cody was sore the following days and could barely lift his arms. I was decently sore as well. Meaning it was a great workout and it was only 30 min! It is a great space, very clean, and the coaches are very enthusiastic for you to be there! I'll definitely go by again when I am around on the weekends more!

I absolutely love this gym and the coaches…read more Been going here for the last 3-4 months. I was lucky enough to be introduced to the place when I was in a 28 day rehab for alcohol (yes, you read that right) this past May 2019. The treatment facility I was housed at took us to the gym 3 days a week, and I can't begin to tell you how excited I was the first day our alcoholic/drug addict group went to Industrious. If anyone needs exercise it is definitely someone who has been high or drunk most of the last few years of their life! When I found out it was a CrossFit gym I was beyond stoked. Pullup bars, chalk, a big open floor, gymnastics rings (haven't touched them in years), barbells, those damn assault bikes (I hate those things, ha!)... I was so happy! I'll never forget the first couple times I went in there with my treatment group, I got to meet the owner, Stephen, and some of their coaches: Austin, Crissy (best smile ever), Erik, Kaybree, and Faith. They are just the nicest people around. And guess what? They are super athletic, no joke. Just watch them workout during open gym. They definitely walk the walk, they don't blow smoke up your ass, and I love that. They are nothing short of amazing humans. My exercise background should be mentioned: I have been a member at 24 Hr Fitness (and other commercial gyms) for years (which by the way, they've installed pullup/squat rigs & lifting platforms and using olympic barbell plates... trying to copy the CF formula..?? Hmm), and mostly did calisthenics exercises with some barbell squats and deadlifts thrown in for fun. I have always enjoyed exercise, it made me feel good. I never ever thought of going to the gym as a burden (unless I was hungover), it was the highlight of my day. I did some CF a few years back, super inconsistently... like 1 time a month??? Does that even count?? I had some idea of what CF was like, but forgot how much work it takes to actually be good at it. I've gotten so damn lazy over the last few years, I needed someone to kick my ass and this was just the ticket. For a more seasoned CrossFitter, I bet you'll like this gym too. They also make sure you don't so something stupid and injure yourself! They are very much in tune with every athlete's limitations (anatomical, injury, etc.). Austin & Kaybree in particular have been helping me figure out barbell skills for the last couple months. They have been so patient and helpful. I'm learning something every day, even if it means I'm not adding weight to the bar. I got to meet Erik and Faith a few times when I was in treatment and I told them how I wanted to learn to handstand walk. They were immediately helpful and demonstrated (show offs!) their mad skills. So cool. How many other gyms do you have your coaches walking on their hands like it's no big deal!!??! Anyway, as part of my exit plan from treatment I vowed to sign up ASAP. The next day I went in and did a 6 months paid-in-full (shoulda just did the year). Best thing I have done for myself in years. Let me explain! I came from a very dark time in my life. The last few years I have been battling depression, anxiety, and alcohol abuse. I literally fell apart and lost motivation to do things I used to really enjoy... like EXERCISE! These boys and girls give me something to look forward to, something to improve on, something to share, something to be proud of. And that's feeling healthy and accomplished. Even if I struggle to complete a workout or can't do a movement or lift (believe me, there are TONS of things I have issues with), I still feel like I did something positive and got a little better and learned something that day. We don't become awesome in a day, right? The other thing I want to add is that I used to really dislike group exercise. I'm kind of a loner, really. But this place has completely changed that. I love being around the other athletes and coaches. It is super motivating and there is tons of good energy. And lots to get motivated about!! When you see someone nail a big lift or skill, I think, "shit, I want to do that!!!" I never got that feeling at a commercial gym. Too many people mirin' and flexing their biceps and buttcheeks and taking selfies! Ha! I'll close by saying that I am very grateful to have found Industrious. You guys really have changed my life and I feel like a functional, healthy human being. Performing constantly varied movements at high intensity! Xtra Fitness is a studio that is so much better than any of the others in the area around here. Not…read moreonly is it better; it is different, unique, and unusual. But you might not believe me, so let me begin by convincing you that I know well what I'm talking about: I'm Jeff G., a retired English teacher, and I have been working out at Xtra Fitness for 10 years now. And my workouts include doing between two and three sessions daily: circuit-training sessions; personal fitness training workouts; pilates work on the Reformer; and spinning classes on the stationary bikes. I have dropped 30 pounds since I started working out at Xtra Fitness 10 years ago; and I'm in the best shape I've ever been in. Oh! Almost forgot to mention: I just celebrated my 77th birthday. So, yes, I know Xtra Fitness studio well: its owners and trainers; its routines, advantages, and offerings; its ability to make you and your fitness level significantly 'new and improved'; and the list of benefits goes on and on for mega-miles. Xtra Fitness is not one of those corporate organizations that has 200 branches in 300 cities where you pay your money and take your chances, where you're working out alone together with 400 other nameless patrons. No, Xtra Fitness is a single studio owned and operated by Steve and Vanessa, both of whom are sincerely dedicated to improving their patrons' fitness levels, and wonderfully knowledgeable in the art and science of personal fitness training. Steve knows 87 different ways to exercise every muscle group. The variety of exercises he designs and uses in the circuit-training sessions keeps the sessions interesting, challenging, and fun. You'll find the circuit-training to be wonderfully worthwhile, and you'll quickly get into a routine of coming often and making the circuits an exercise habit. Vanessa is a sports-fitness machine. She is sincere and passionate about maintaining her own fitness and promoting fitness in others. And she is certified in so many aspects of personal fitness and sports medicine. The only certifications she doesn't hold are those that haven't been invented yet. Wait'll you start working with Vanessa in pilates on the Reformer. She'll improve your balance and flexibility, and you'll notice the changes quickly. I certainly did. And Vanessa is the most sensational instructor for the spinning classes on the stationary bikes. She's fun and demanding, encouraging you to do more than you think you can and making you feel good about it all. And talk about burning calories and body fat! At the end of the spinning sessions, I find I've lost almost half my body-weight...or, at least, it feels that way. It's a great feeling of accomplishment. This past year, of course, has been difficult for gyms and fitness studios because of the Covid crisis. Everyone has been afraid to work out for fear of getting those virus cooties, but the gyms - and Xtra Fitness, too - are opening up again and are welcoming patrons. I've been encouraged and reassured to keep coming to Xtra Fitness this past year because I have seen 'up close and personal' how careful Steve and Vanessa are with maintaining the studio's cleanliness. They keep a clean and safe environment with hospital grade cleaning supplies and sanitizers; they follow the updated government requirements to keep their members safe; and they keep the equipment at Xtra sanitized and disinfected at all times. For all these reasons, I recommend Xtra Fitness to you highly. And when you come in, be sure to ask Steve and Vanessa "Where's Jeff?" because I'll very likely be right there working through the circuit-training session, or doing one of many exercises during my personal-training hour with Steve; or I might be in the room next door stretched out on the Reformer or spinning my legs off on the stationary bike. But I will be there, just as I've been there for the past 10 years. And I'll be happy to meet you. It's a great place to work out and get in shape. Believe me, I know.

I was excited to try this place until I arrived and found out that masks are not required inside…read more Supposedly you have to wear one while entering and exiting, this is not the case and every person who was working out there and coming and going weren't wearing a mask. This was very disappointing, I was hoping to join a fitness place that was responsible however this place really dropped the ball. Even though I purchased a session, I ended up walking out, you guys can just keep the money I guess.

If you're new to crossfit, or even new-ish, I HIGHLY recommend taking the intro course. It currently consists of five classes geared toward teaching all the basic lifts and movements you'll need for a class. I took this course four months after having a baby, with the weakest muscles I've ever had (EVER!) and was pleasantly surprised by the ease with which I was able to learn the new skills and incorporate said skills into workouts. Another bonus for all you people with kids: a kid zone! There's a little room built into the gym with games/toys for lots of ages. There's also childcare available- I believe it's offered two morning classes per day? But you'll have to double check on that. Anyway, bottom line- this gym is worth checking out. It's probably the least intimidating way to get started in crossfit and a great place to get in shape or just improve your strength/conditioning. There are people of all skill levels so you'll fit right in. ;) Dooo it.

I was so happy when I heard a second Cut and Flow location would be opening up much closer to me…read more This one is so much more convenient and seems a bit larger. I've only made it to 2 classes so far, but I look forward to coming here for years to come. This area is full of construction so street parking is not super easy, but do look for the retail parking garage. It can be a little confusing to know where to go if you are coming here for the first time, but from the parking garage exit walk across the court yard. Everyone has been welcoming and friendly. The large entry area has plenty of lockers to secure your stuff and some seats to help you get your shoes on and off. Bathrooms have showers and space to change if you are heading here on your way to or from somewhere. I feel much less cramped in this xformer room. I've only peaked in the yoga room, but it looks quite large as well. I really like the uniqueness of xformer classes. I do have some experience with pilates, but for some reason these machines seem more enjoyable. Do be aware this is a hard workout and you will leave feeling the effects. It can be a little challenging to figure it out the first couple times, but the instructors walk around and offer support. If everything else falls just look at what your neighbor is doing. There are support sticks if you worry about your balance. Give it a try and I am sure you will feel the benefits as well.

The weather in Seattle has been absolutely beautiful lately as we head into summer…read more It was another perfect day to get in a good workout, and I had the chance to visit a lovely new facility. The Cut and Flow just opened a new location in Lynnwood. It is located on the first floor of a brand new apartment complex. Retail parking is also available inside the apartment parking garage. There are designated parking spots specifically for retail customers. A heads-up if you're visiting: the main gate from the apartment side is a bit heavy. I initially thought it was locked and only accessible to residents, so I ended up walking all the way around the building to get in. If you go, make sure to give the gate a firm push. I tried both the Pilates and yoga classes. Pilates was great, especially with brand-new reformer machines available for everyone to use for the entire session. The mirrors on the walls made it easy to follow the instructor and check my form. The yoga instructor was incredibly friendly and professional. I liked the slightly warm temperature of the room. I think it helped my body relax even better. We did a variety of stretches that felt pretty good afterwards. Also, be aware that phones are not allowed in class! I definitely needed a bit more time away from my phone. All the equipments are new and available for use unless you prefer to bring your own. The shower facilities are in excellent condition as the entire facility is brand new.
