We had Brett as our guide and he was awesome. The weather couldn't have been better and the water really is that bright green you see in photos. When the sun hits it just right, it's unreal. The whole kayak route is beautiful, and we even saw a bald eagle flying overhead, which was a nice surprise. Tips: Don't book this if you're not in decent shape, it's about 3-4 miles of kayaking. If you're unsure, go for a tandem kayak and bring someone to share the work. It'll make the experience way more enjoyable. Just make sure to request a tandem kayak in advance

We saw birds of prey, herons, loons, and big horn sheep with their baby sheep at the rivers edge. Go in the morning to see emerald green water and experience less wind while kayaking. Brett made sure we kayaked inside the caves safely and nice photo opportunities. Go and have so much fun!

Shaded picnic areas and rudimentary restrooms are at both nearby 33 Hole parking lots. The first (and last!) hill warrants good hiking footwear and your attention. Uneven and unmaintained so find a map online for best results. Bring water, bring Fido, dress for the weather and pack out your trash. The views and slot canyon are worth it!

The hike, in general, is excellent. You see a little river, go under tunnels, and hike up a small hill. There is enough nature to look around rather than just dirt and rocks because we are in a desert. Not too many people around either, which is nice, that it isn't too crowded. Unfortunately, I did not see any owls. Lastly, you do have to pay an entrance fee to come inside, I believe it was 20. Overall, the hike was easy, and I would come back.

Hoover Dam Hotel Casino and Hoover Damn are also in the area to visit to see the sights along with the small town of Boulder City which offers restaurants bars and small shops & antiques.

Hey Yelpers! This is…read morea super easy mostly flat hiking trail with the most beautiful views. This is the best time of the year to hike it, too. You can easily drive into the parking lot like you are heading to the visitor center, but drive past it down to the restroom parking lot close to the trail and it's perfectly marked for easy no brainer adventure. About half way or an hour in there is another restroom with a covered picnic table for a break. Then you can continue on down to the Boulder Dam. There are amazing views there as well as awesome retro restrooms , memorials, and water. There used to be a cafe. I forgot to look if they are still open. Before the dam is a parking structure. You can take the stairs or an elevator. We usually start our hikes about 8 am. The restrooms were still clean and stocked. I bring hand sanitizer. Be sure to bring water and a snack just in case. Dogs are welcome but please pick up after them and keep them on a leash. The later it gets the more busy it gets. I like to go here at least once a year. It's just so nice to get out into nature and experience Nevada. Parking is free. You can check out the visitor center while you are there. They have cool stuff. I recommend this trail. Check it out!

The…read moreparking and bathrooms were well maintained, and the signage made clear the natural challenges presented in this part of the country. We easily followed the beaten path to see the arch and the Colorado River in 3.5 hours. Pro tips: wear hiking boots, wear layers, bring water and a snack, and plan for sun and wind. We were fortunate so many things were in bloom today. We'll do this hike again!

The hike was 4.55 miles round trip. Moderate, with a mix of inclines and flat sections. The trail can be sandy and rocky in places, so wear good hiking footwear. It took about 3 hours round trip because we spent about 30 minutes enjoying the view up top. Make sure to bring water and some snacks to enjoy before hiking back down. Take lots of pictures too. This hike was very peaceful and serene. You will love it. I can't wait to do this hike again with my girls!

We were lucky enough to spot a bighorn sheep in the distance at the very top of one of the mountains! Wear hiking shoes for the rocky terrain and a hat for the no shade. Recommend to start early at 8 am min. if you do the whole loop. It's cool to see all the Petroglyphs! There's not a lot but enough on the walls in a certain section of the trail.

Lots of things changed at home. One needs to get back and kin with nature. Being out side is where "one" feels most alive . It's time to start a new journey and chapter of change in life. This particular piece of protected land is located in my backyard, per say . One might ask, hiking trails that are in the desert. Why would one even consider hiking here? It's too hot! It's just dust and rocks! Why? Actually, at one time this was a thriving community, it's a protected community for all to enjoy and come see petroglyphs from Ancient individuals that once called this area home. This area in an inactive volcanic region. It's dormant for now. In the after effects of a volcano eruption or activity it leaves fertile soil that can yield lots of crops with little effort. The lava that flowed under the ground in tubes can provide shelter for those that once called this area home. Many residents of days past have lived close to volcanos that have gone dormant. The natural resources can be used and the heat keeps the area warm enough naturally. If you are able to keep taking the trail all the way around and look around you will see petroglyphs. This hike is about six miles all the way around . Make sure and start early it's an amazing glance into the past . The mountain hug you as you climb and crawl over water falls from the past. It's an incredible experience. It's the journey and how you experience and explore. Get out and enjoy life . Don't let life pass you by. Make each day special. Nature is beautiful and it has been preserved from the past for generations to see

There's so many different side trails that it got confusing for us and it took us over 2 hours to get back to our car. Do your research before taking side trails lol. Other than that everything was absolutely beautiful! We such a fun time together and wondering around. The weather was beautiful and we all got our steps in. This is a very mild trail. Not a lot of climbing or cliffs, but it was quite long because of our getting lost. Great for pets and kids.

The Whitney Mesa Lower Trail (from this point abbreviated WMLT) is a one mile out and back…read moremulti-use trail that bridges the City of Henderson to a natural mesa. It is a trail that has the characteristics of both a City of Henderson and backcountry trail. The WMLT is anchored by the Whitney Mesa Recreation Area Galleria Drive Trailhead at the south and the Whitney Mesa Nature Preserve to the north. There are two parking lots that serve the trail. The south one is at the Whitney Mesa Park Recreation Area and the north one is at the Whitney Ranch Activity Center. Both are off Galleria Drive.     I am no stranger to both the Whitney Mesa Lower Trail and the greater Whitney Mesa Recreation Area. From my hikes here what distinguishes this trail from the majority of the Recreation Area is that this is an official City of Henderson Trail with its own route markers and street lights that travels below in the shadow of the mesa. The majority of the Recreation Area consists of backcountry trails on top of the mesa. In reality it is an urban trail at the eastern periphery of the Recreation Area that provides dramatic closeup vistas of the towering Mesa to the west and a residential community, a church, and recreation center to the east.      The few times that I have visited, I parked at  Natural Grocers. This is a good spot to pick up bottled water. From there I walked northbound on Arroyo Grande and turned right onto a no name City trail that bridges the southwest trailhead off Sunset Road to Stone Tree Bluff Street which feeds into the trail.      The trail starts out as a loop encircling ab adorable western themed playground featuring a horse statue, carriage, and general store that is adjacent to open green space. The trail briefly heads northwest as it approaches the Mesa on a slightly uphill climb. When you turn around you can see a panoramic view of southeast Henderson. The trail continues north and past the curve it follows the Whitney Mesa. For the rest of the trail there is urban nature to the left. There are a few signs warning trail users that coyotes and rattlesnakes frequent the habitat. This is also hiking habitat. There are a couple of trails with moderate difficulty that climb up to the top of the Whitney Mesa to join the main backcountry trail. I can picture how beautiful the scenery is when the sun sets. This is a cool spot to watch planes that are about to land at Harry Reid International Airport because it looks like the planes are landing on top of the Mesa. As the trail travels further north there is an attractive distant vista of Frenchman Mountain to the northeast. But to the immediate west in the shadow of the Mesa is Armijos Camp which is a neat area with Indian dwellings and a real Western environment ideal for enjoying solitude in the city. The trail ends at Patrick Street where a few hundred feet to the west is the nature preserve that is decked with short trails that bring a touch of Red Rock Canyon to the City of Henderson. This makes for the perfect spot to turn around.     The nice thing about WMLT is that on the way back you can change the scenery by hiking up the moderately challenging trails climbing up to the top of the Mesa. This is the spot to take in amazing views of southeast Henderson. The main backcountry trail will lead to the noname City Trail (this should be extended to the WMLT) where turning left (northeast) will lead back to the Galleria Drive Trailhead.     One thing that I would like to say about WMLT is that it is disconnected from the rest of the City of Henderson and Clark County Trail System. It is an island onto itself. I think it would be awesome if the City of Henderson connected it with an extended Pittman Wash Trail complete with bridges over both Sunset and Warm Springs Roads. This ultimately would make the Whitney Mesa and WMLT a City of Henderson Trail System hiking and bicycle hub and destination.    I am a fan of the WMLT. It has given me the experiences of hiking on a City of Henderson Trail in the shadow of the backcountry without leaving the City.

I saw news of the opening of this trail and it was on my to do list…read more I went early this morning before it got to be in the 90s. Designed especially for kids, I saw none. Everyone I went by was walking their dog(s). Parking is easy with a large circular lot near the 10 foot jack rabbit. The trail is paved and wide. The animals are fun to see and the replicas are very well done. The total length up and back is .6 miles. The incline is not very challenging and would be good for anyone. At the end of the trail up, there is a large circular area for views. There is a pavilion there for rest, shade, or water and a picnic. This was fun to do. A great learning experience for kids. The interpretive markers are excellent. You may see some bike riders in parts of the trail where the bike trial passes through the park. I have only put a few photos rather than duplicate what others have posted.

There are fun statues dotted along the trail with fun fact plaques to read. The rocks are beautiful too! So vibrant with colors and striations. Loved walking our small dog here and highly recommend visiting.
