This trip was awesome! One of the highlights of our trip to Vegas. I've been to Vegas many times, and didn't know kayaking on the Colorado was a thing you could do. An easy 5 out of 5 stars! This excursion was one of the best parts of my "first time in Vegas" adventure! The others would be Cirque du Soleil "O" and the Sphere. This was a wonderful getaway from the hustle and bustle of the strip, the heat and all the concrete. If you can request your guide, ask for Faith. She was easily an 8 out of 5! She reached out to us and told us exactly where to meet her to be picked up. Then she gave us lots of cool tidbits as she drove us to their headquarters. There we had a chance to use the restroom and it was also where I had a chance to purchase a waterproof (which also floats - very important!) enclosure for my cellphone. From there we proceeded to our launch point. We met up with a few more people who drove there themselves to the launch point. Together there were 6 kayaks in our group led by Faith. The weather was perfect. The water temperature was around 50 so it was quite chilly. But with the heat, it was welcoming. The kayaks were cool because they had a rudder at the back controlled by foot pedals making it much easier to steer. Faith led us on a paddle up towards the Hoover Dam stopping a couple times for a break and lunch. Our excursion doesn't take us all the way to the Hoover Dam. We kayaked about 2 miles up the Colorado River and then back. The scenery driving to the launch point is rather dismal with nothing green, just brown desert. But on the Colorado river, it was amazing! I will cherish the views and the pictures forever! One of the highlights of the excursion is the "Emerald Cave". Hate to disappoint, but it's not much of a cave (a little bit of false advertising if you ask me) but rather a large hole in the side of a mountain. BUT we did get to see the phosphorous algae at the bottom that gives it it's famous emerald glow. Faith said it's most prominent around 3 in the afternoon when the sunlight hits it just the right angle and it was not 3 o'clock when we were there but we still got to see it a little. Then Faith said to paddle straight across the river to the other side for a surprise. Apparently the way the rock is shaped at that area enables sound to echo up to a mile away. We all shouted "Hello" and we could hear the echo a fraction of a second behind us. You have to experience it to appreciate it. Before the excursion you get to pick out a sandwich lunch which we had at one of our stops. It was September and it was still hot enough where (Faith said) if you leave your chocolate chip cookie in the sun for a few minutes, it will taste freshly baked! She wasn't lying. After lunch we did a very short hike to an elevated spot where the view was breath taking! We also got to see some sheep, a rattlesnake (which is always in same spot) and a bald eagle (very far away) up in the rock face. We had "water guns" in our kayaks and we got to shoot each other with that freezing water. In the heat, it felt good. We saw other groups also kayaking and paddle boarding, but there were no motorized crafts on the water that day because it was Monday (also on Sundays). We were lucky because it would've broken up the peaceful quiet of the trip on the river. Unless you kayak or paddle every day, you'll feel it in your upper body the next few days because you do kayak for a couple miles. After returning to the launch point, Faith brought us to a welcome center type area where you can buy souvenirs and then it was back in the van back to Vegas. Faith was amazing guide. Knowledgeable and so nice. She's so good at what she does. If we ever go back, I want to go on this same excursion again! I highly recommend this company and ask for Faith! read more

Such an awesome tour! My LV friend had a student from Japan and he wanted to go kayaking so my friend booked via TripAdvisor. Faith is the best guide! She called and gave us detailed instructions on parking and meeting. Faith adjusted our kayaks and gave us instructions. I've always been an outdoorsy person and have kayaked before, but these kayaks they had, had petals to steer left and right! So much easier than traditional kayaks! As we paddled through the river, Faith pointed out wildlife that we, ourselves, would probably not have spotted. She also had plenty of interesting facts and information during our trek. The cave was underwhelming. It was a small cave and it didn't "glow" it's pretty colors. This only happened when the sun hits it just right, it was still amazing to see and get to go through nature. But.... The opposite side of the cave is another cave that if you yelled, it would echo through the whole canyon, now that was spectacular! Aside from the scenery being absolutely breathtaking and the water being the perfect temperature, our guide Tehya was the cherry on top. We are home and adjusted after what can only be called a trip of a lifetime and the highlight was this Kayak trip launching from the Hoover Dam on 4/16 with Faith as our tour guide. Our family of 4, 2 teens and 2 over 50, wanted an adventure and got one. From the amazing feeling of being on the Colorado River and sitting in a kayak while the Hoover Dam soars above you, to the amazing hot springs, the wildlife and the challenge. It was 12 miles down river and on our trip, the wind was not our friend. But Faith made it amazing. She is not only knowledgeable of everything along the river but gave us tips on battling the wind (stay close to the canyon). She took photos of us, taught us about the wildlife and the foliage and engaged everyone of us. Including the teens, if you have some, you know how hard that is! She had us tap into our inner self and listen to the canyon and waters, find strength when the wind was hard, saved a hat or two, let us enjoy the hot springs and a dip by me in the cold Colorado, and encouraged my kids to have a water gun fight at the end. This was a huge huge hit with them. Overall if I could give more stars then 5 I would. Thank you Faith and Evolution, this was an amazing adventure and has encouraged us to kayak more at home and become our own local experts! Well how should I start. The tour we picked was the sunset kayak expedition. After some unexpected wind hit us earlier than was expected, we were left stranded on a rocky, not island, but away from civilization. Not on the main beach but only accessible via water. We were told to shelter in place for 15-20 minutes and wait for the wind to die down. After multiple texts, and calls about a rescue option, we found out that no one was taking it seriously as we were told multiple times that we should just get in the kayaks and once we pass the side we were on that the wind would be at our backs and we would be ok to make it back to shore. Our safety wasn't a concern at all. To anyone EXCEPT our guide Soren. Not from the manager, not the owner, not Lake Mead. The rescue boat was not rescue ready or safe and after MORE than 3 hours of waiting and multiple calls, texts, attempts to rectify our situation we were given the following "options": 1) 911 would bring a helicopter. This was given as an option and turned out to not be an option. 2) Rangers would bring a rescue boat out to grab us. We were told they were waiting back at the beach but Lake Mead does not have night rescue. Despite that, this option was PRESENTED multiple times as an option but no follow through and obviously lied to as the have no night rescue. 3) Access to the zodiac. The company's rescue boat. The company would bring it over for us. 4) Support/escorts would help guide us, ride along side us, tow us back to the beach. 5) Sheltering in place for the night, this option was given to us after 2.5 hours of waiting for a rescue. And finally, and this was repeatedly given was 6) to get back in the kayaks and "brave it out". Nevermind the fact that 6 out of the 8 people it was their first time kayaking. Or that the kayaks were flipping over repeatedly from the winds. Or even one of the experienced kayakers going out and flipping over from the winds. We finally got some support from the manager and the owner to get us all back to safety. Listening to our poor guide be gaslit about how it wasn't that serious when the "support" themselves had to wait for the wind to become safer to join us where we were stranded. It was apparent that this type of situation hadn't been planned for or have had talks of what to do in this situation, as a company is just utterly dumbfounding and unprofessional. I understand this situation isnt a common issue as this was previously mentioned time and time again, but the lack of urgency and determination to ensure the safe return of un-experienced kayakers who sought out your company just seems to be entirely dishearting. This issue needs to be addressed and discussed for the further safety of future clients, and maybe some more humility and humanity to those who aren't experienced on the waters. read more

BEWARE We were trying to get this taken care of on the road with bad reception and purchased it over the phone. We were not told that we were unable to cancel if need be because it had to be before 24 hours. We were within the 24 hour time frame and not informed. The person in the phone was very nice and friendly. However, when it hit the fan she told us she would speek with the owner .Therefore they took our money and did not reimburse us. They did offer us a time to come, but we would have to fly back within a year , very unreasonable. Also, it was bad weather and the trip was canceled anyway. Ridiculous beware 24 hour cancellation you pay and do not get refunded. They cancelled the trip due to weather and STILL DID NOT REFUND!!! read more

I booked a random kayaking tour through Groupon. It was around $80-$90 per person for estimate 3 hours tour. It was like 90 degrees plus outside at 9am. Our tour group was about like 15-20 people. The moment you on the water, it got so much cooler and the breeze was so nice. They also provided bottle of ice water and snack during the tour, which was awesome and very thoughtful. staff: friendly, polite and helpful, some are funny too. Two pro tips right off the bat- **Sunday/ Monday are "No Motors" days upstream- the water was as calm as could be. ** I believe this is due to Covid, there is no shuttle pickup. We had to pay $25 per vehicle entrance/ parking fee for entering Willow Beach on top of the cost of the tour. Last minute signed up for the 3-hour 4-mile round trip Emerald Cave Express tour the day before the tour. Other companies were sold out, luckily Evolution took the two of us in. First timer: here is what to expect- Met up with the tour guide and kayaks at the launch site about a 5 minute walk from the Willow Beach parking lot. Dipped my feet in the 53 degree Colorado River water to cool down from 112 degree air temperature. Meet up time is PST even though Willow Beach is in AZ and might be in a difference time zone depending of the time of the year. Safely launched after a very brief review on how to paddle (almost wished the tutorial was a bit more in depth for people who have never kayaked before- but I have myself). The sun was unforgiving in mid July so I highly recommend wearing a hat and tons of sunscreen. The cold water splash down the paddles did a TREMENDOUS job in cooling!! It was never too hot in the kayak. The scenery is gorgeous- a supreme tranquility in the air. If you're lucky you can even spot some bighorn sheep. First stop at a small rock beach, this is where you'll need shoes for a small hike up to a viewpoint where we admired the river from above. Our guide Rachel told us a bit of history and also about the plants and rocks in the area. Then we went onto the Emerald Cave. Weekend tours are SO busy! We must have waited 30 mins on the water in the kayak before our turn inside the Emerald Caves, with tours and tours ahead and the sun beating down on us. The cave itself was magic, I can't describe in words here. Again, if you go on a weekend, be prepared not to have the cave alone and feel a little rushed for the next group to go in. Im not sure if this is standard practice for every single expedition company but I would recommend this tour to ALLLL my friends because: 1- their fancy kayaks have rudders to help steer!!!! That means all the paddling goes into moving the kayak forward! That means going longer distance with less effort! That means not being sore the next day! 2- they provided every one in the tour with more than enough cold water and snacks. I haven't even gone on my trip yet but I've received such refreshing customer service that I wanted to drop my five stars early. Last minute I decided I wanted to take my little sister on a surprise kayaking trip. I called and they were able to accommodate my party of four with less than four days notice! Then we found there was a scheduling conflict at my sisters job so the original reservation date would no longer work. I called and talked to Rod who said there is normally a $30/per person charge for changing reservations but he would look into it and get back to me. When we spoke later he told me they would be able to change our reservation date free of charge because he wanted to make sure we had a great experience! We just finished our 7-8 hour/12mile/all day tour and it was a blast. We made multiple stops (starting from the Hoover Dam) which included some short hikes and a lunch (Jersey Mikes). Michelle and Bridget were wonderful guides. They were super knowledgable and highly attentive. Tips: -Try booking on Sunday or Monday as there are no motors allowed upstream. This made the entire journey peaceful and calm. -Take a cooling towel and plenty of sun screen...and wear some water shoes as you're going to be knee deep in water at times. -You don't need much as the guides provide water and snacks throughout -If you've never kayaked...don't sweat it. The pace isn't too fast and you get the hang of things pretty quick (it was just our second time kayaking). Highly recommend trying this tour. read more

I was a little skeptical because it was pretty windy the day we went and it was our first time kayaking but after arriving the crew went over the dos and don'ts and put my mind at ease. He was super knowledgeable and so helpful. He even helped a poor, stranded girl on the way back! She truly went beyond my expectations and was so patient, kind, and knowledgeable. I came down from Miami to vegas and decided that I needed to do something outdoors. So I drove my happy ass to Arizona which honestly was a great drive, paid $25 to get into the park and my experience was totally worth it. There's nothing negative to say about this experience because it was one of the best days of my life. Pure euphoria. I chose the 3 mile tour with snacks and a small hike. My butt cheeks and arms were on fire the next day, but I'm not even mad I can't wait to come back and do it again. Michelle and Rachel were amazing tour guides!! We had so much fun kayaking the Colorado River today and even though I'm exhausted it was totally worth it. I'm not exactly an experienced kayaker. I actually flipped twice because I have terrible balance and the guides were right there when I fell in the water and were right on top of it. The water was a little chilly but definitely enjoyable in the hot sun. If you have bad balance but want to kayak yourself like me, I recommend getting a two person kayak but just for yourself. Was more stable for a klutz like me. Totally recommend at least doing this once in your life.My arms may be sore but I still had so much fun! They gave us a courtesy call the day of to make sure we were on our way to willow beach and also sent us an email to confirm. It was easy to find our tour guide as well! When we got there, we met Jessie, who was our tour guide. He was very friendly and gave us information on how to put on a life vest and how to steer and use the paddles. He was very chill and was very informative. He made sure everyone in the group was good by checking on us and waiting for everyone. He also gave us history about the river. As we got closer to the emerald cave he made sure we were all together. When we got into the cave, we stayed in there for a bit to take photos. It was so pretty and worth it! As we left, the wind began to pick up, which made it challenging to get back to our starting point. But, we all got there safely! We did the sunset paddle with Chris and it was a great time. He was very nice and helpful. It was really windy that day so I was a little nervous I wouldn't be able to handle a single kayak as someone who is 5'3 and no athlete ha ha but I was perfectly fine. It is a workout though so keep that in mind! The kayaking to the little island was fun but it was kayaking back in the dark with the lights in the kayak that was so cool! The island we went to was quite rocky and there were spiky plants so I highly recommend closed toed shoes and maybe even pants as I did see a few large spiders which I'm not a fan of... the sandwiches they provided were from Jason's Deli which was a lot better than I was expecting! It also comes with fruit and after you get s'mores so it's a full meal! They also provide plenty of cold water. The super rocky beach didn't entice me to go swimming but it was so hot that it would have been a perfect time! Challenging but fun! It was a great day away from the strip. The wind was picking up quite a bit on our way back but since their boats have rudders and I had a teenager in the front it was definitely doable. The views are great and our guide Jared was very knowledgeable and helpful with everyone in our group. They provide shuttle from your hotel to Willow Beach - we drove ourselves - ** side note : if you drive yourself be prepared to pay the $25 parking fee which is valid for the entire week for the Las Vegas Nevada parks in the area; lake mead recreational area etc.. We kayaked for a good about a time stopped did a short hike to find an old historic site then kayaked into emerald cave which was absolutely breathtaking! The girls were very friendly very informative and extremely helpful never felt nervous or out of pace in the kayak we had to double seat kayaks on this trip.
