I searched high and low for different vendors that fit the fusion that we wanted, but couldn't find anything that fit just right (or that didn't break the bank). Then I somehow stumbled across Rebel Catering on Google. They had a wide variety of packages for food varying from Asian, to bbq, to Mexican. They didn't have a ton of reviews, and it seemed like they mostly did corporate events, but I gave them a call. I'll be honest, I was a bit apprehensive of how incredibly chill Rahul is at first (because I was already stressed out), but when I told him about our vision, he immediately checked with his chefs and created an incredible menu for us. My mom and mother in law's primary request was copycats of the other restaurant's corn fritters, and he even delivered on that. I'll attach a picture of the menu, but our minds were blown at the quality and freshness of the food. Buffet style brisket is HARD and he and his team crushed it. I even had friends with allergies and he accommodated them without question. The most popular part of the night though was the shaved ice. Part of Rebel Catering is their shaved ice package with alcoholic shaved ice (TABC bartender included). They had custom flavors to match our Asian fusion theme, and even brought their truck in to serve our guests! They also created a custom flavor named after our cat and created a sign with a cute cartoon of him. They also had tons of other drinks including sodas, jelly drinks, boba drinks, and energy drinks. We had a week-long corporate meeting in Austin, TX. To save money, we decided to rent a house…read moreinstead of using a hotel. But getting food to the hotel would have been a challenge...either cook for ourselves or cater from a chain. Our host suggested we use an events chef and connected us to Becca Schafer and her staff. This proved to be one of the best parts of the meeting. The food was very fresh. She used local fresh ingredients whenever possible. She was sensitive to the variety of dietary needs for our staff: from vegetarian, to vegan, and beyond. They made from-scratch hors d'oeuvres served to us out on the patio. They also accommodated our schedule for dinner, flexing the time the meal was finished to accommodate our evening activities. The staff thoroughly cleaned the kitchen afterwards. We had to start an email list of our attendees who wanted chef Becca's recipes, which she graciously agreed to supply to anyone who wants them. Our staff meeting planner found the prices to be quite reasonable for sit-down meal costs. Lastly, you may be able to find other great chefs, but it's not always easy to find ones that were so enjoyable. Our staff had so much fun with them in the house, they insisted that Becca and her crew join us for a glass of wine on the patio. They joined in like old friends in our conversation, shared some fun stories, and were very genuine in their interactions with us.
