It is rare to find someone who listens so well and spends lots of time treating the emotional as well as the physical; this is important because the whole person needs diagnosing, treating and annual wellness/preventative care. This is my second time here for a Covid-19 test. I scheduled both online, quick and easy. Both appointment times were scheduled for 1:00 am and there was no wait. Someone came out and took our ID's for verification and then a very nice gentlemen came and did the swab tests. I think it took 4 days to get the test results back, via email the first time. Wow - they have made both Covid-19 testing & Covid-19 antibodies testing super accessible. I scheduled nasal swab testing online, at location closest to me, Phoenix College. Phx College's site is a drive-up, like many; I didnt even need an appt b/c there was NO ONE there. Embry has set up sites all over the Valley. The CV-19 antibodies testing, a blood draw, is only at their Dobbins Rd/Mesa location. I have ZERO symptoms but scientific articles say that approximately 40% of the population are Asymptomatic Carriers (AC) - meaning you might have the virus but show no symptoms. I have traveled & been on airplanes/at airports, so wanted to ensure that I am not an AC. As far as Antibodies testing, an NYT article came yesterday stating that these tests are not as reliable/accurate, as previously thought. Date/info is constantly changing since this is a new virus. I keep rolling with it & staying as safe/healthy as possible. Their testing process is fast & easy. I highly recommend it. Thanks Embry for what you are doing for the community!! read more

I'm extremely disappointed in the downward spiral this place has gone. I started going to embry for a multitude of reasons and they gave me the help and resources I needed for my Hashimoto's diagnosis. But later in 2021 I had an appointment scheduled and they never called, emailed, or texted to let me know that was cancelled on their behalf. I've been calling every week since then and finally after hours of looking at their websites and my patient portal I discovered my NP is no longer with embry. How hard is it to let established, long term patients that their provider is no longer available? How hard is it to contact me letting me know my appointment is cancelled? Finally I decided to try to set an appointment with another NP, only to be told embry is no longer contracted with my insurance. It still states my provider is in contract with embry on every website they have. Once again, absolutely destitute communication on their part and I'm incredibly disappointed by their lack of professionalism. My husband and I ended up getting our test results from Banner Baywood after going to the emergency room testing POSITIVE for COVID on September 13th and 14th (admitted different days bc it took some convincing to get my hubby there). We are a family of 6! We have 4 kids (1 in college out of state). 4/6 of us went to get tested at Mesa Community College parking lot location. We have a 13 month old, and no we didn't feel it necessary to test. Our second oldest child test results came in first with a NEGATIVE covid on SATURDAY September 11. That was great news! However, your company only sent ONE text on September 13...."...a person with this number tested POSITIVE for COVID 19..." when ALL of us were under ONE SAME number.....my husband's cell. We were still waiting for 2 more text results after that text. We have NEVER tested POSITIVE for COVID before so we didn't know what kind of text to expect with a POSITIVE result test. I called and left a message I THINK September 13th from my hospital bed. My husband states he spoke with yall after he got released September 19th.....of yall stating our second youngest test results was POSITIVE for COVID. My husband and I are NEGATIVE of COVID and after I finally got released from the hospital (hubby got released before me), my husband and I took our 2 kids again to get retested HERE AT MCC LOCATION, both were NEGATIVE. My little family is fine, pretty healthy (none of us have NO existing health conditions prior to COVID) and living. I'm just working on my healthy lungs getting it's strength back and increasing oxygen levels....that's about it! Thank you God for life, good health, my husband and kids! Using them for a drive thru COVID test is a huge mistake. Making an appointment does you absolutely no good. You are in the same line with people who didn't plan ahead. I made a 4:45 appointment and here I sit in line still at 6:37. It is ridiculous. They need to start actually requiring appointments and stop offering more appointments if they're already busy. Edited to add: I'm raising the rating to 3 stars simply because the nurse who helped us was so kind and patient with my son. He has autism and does not like being touched, so you can imagine how he felt about the nasal swab. Final time from start of the line to being helped was 2 hours and 9 minutes, so I think they still need to do something about the appointment system. Keeping a toddler entertained in the car for two hours (when I wasn't expecting to have to do that) was not easy. read more

I was scouring the internet for info. about my recent (first!) COVID test to see when I would get results because I'm a teacher in-person and have been sitting in my house for days... Here's the quick story to help others: - Exposed 1/4 - Woke with MILD congestion 1/9 (Hi paranoia, old friend!) - Hopped on and got an appt. for 12:55pm at the Fountain Hills drive-up location for the saliva test. - Test was quick and non-invasive, but the person who checked me in COULD HAVE chosen the passenger window like the guy in front of me or stood a bit more distanced, IMO. But I'm one of those paranoid people. But if you were administering tests, don't you think you'd want to be way TF away from people coming since they obviously were exposed or are showing some symptoms of sickness? Just my opinion. She was super nice, though. - 81 hours later (1/12 at 10:02pm) received a sketchy text: "first name, last name , your recent test results were negative." - Some Google detective searching told me others received the same text bc they had COVID tests as well, so I'm going with trusting it. Plus, I have no symptoms anymore and the congestion was probably just from being a human. - Now 11 hours after that, still waiting on the official results to post to their patient portal so I can be cleared to go back to work. Will update this as soon as I get those formal results posted. *Update: After waiting 13 hours, I called and waited 12 minutes to talk with someone and she literally posted my results to the patient portal right away. I refreshed my page and had the documentation I needed in a minute of talking to a live person. They are obviously swamped and doing the best they can. If it's urgent, grab a cup of coffee and sit on hold; it's worth it. They said 3-5 days for results and I got them in 3 days and 9 hours. Not a bad turnaround, but missed 3 days of work... as expected. Pretty easy and FREE, so that was nice. Lost a star because they could be clearer about HOW they share results and get those formal results posted a bit sooner. It's nice to know I'm negative so I can at least come out of the COVID jail dungeon that is my bedroom and see my family, but still sitting at home on a work day because I can't get cleared without formal documentation. It's best to keep in mind that for services like this, people are stressed out and anxious, often being displeased with whatever service they receive because it's ALL inconvenient to everyday life. Reviews tend to err on the negative side and we should not just assume people are receiving only poor service. They process THOUSANDS of these daily. Food for thought. read more

I have used them twice for drive-through Covid testing. It couldn't be easier. Once was at East Camelback at a church parking lot. The other time was at Phoenix College. The personnel are highly professional, courteous and caring. This is a no stress way to get tested. It also costs $0. Can't beat that. You'll receive a text with your results FAST. ***Inaccurate Covid testing*** On 1/25 I paid for a rapid Covid test as I had been symptomatic all weekend . A few short hours later I received the text that both the test I took with them saliva and swab were negative. I ended up 4 hours later in the ER due to difficulty breathing. In the ER I tested positive for Covid . I contacted Embry about the inaccurate test and was advised a false negative is more common than not! So why was that not explained prior to forking out money for a test? They had no answers and no resolution read more

My first initial visits were nice and friendly. They provided a messaging portal so I wouldn't have to schedule an appointment for refills or any simple questions I had. I was told if I wanted to switch to an IUD that I would have to call ahead before the procedure to ensure they had it. It was super nice that they had Saturday appointments. It's been a year and the whole practice has completely changed. They no longer offer the messaging portal or the weekend appointments. When I attempted to make my appointment for my IUD I was told I had to make two appointments, a consultation and a procedure appointment. During my initial consultation I asked questions to ensure this wouldn't happen so I'm really frustrated with the change in protocol. The providers aren't as reachable as they were before which I really appreciated the provider reaching out to me directly instead of the front desk. read more

I am livid with Embry Women's Health. They have texted me, emailed, and robocalled me repeatedly to make an appointment for my annual exam since February. I made the appointment (first available JUNE) and STILL the constant texts and emails to make an appointment. Now, today, less than a week before my appointment, I get a call and learn they cannot accept Medicare or accept self-pay from me because I am a Medicare patient. GREED. Basically I was dropped. Embry has made plenty from government covid testing. Now that tap is running dry, they are screwing elders. Also, Jo Ellen Embry is the only provider available in the clinic. All the other providers left. I wonder why? Too bad there are no black marks to give Instead of stars. I'd give the maximum black marks. read more

FYI Merilee at the front desk is especially sweet and she was super helpful to resolve this issue! Big props to her! This review is not a reflection of her or the other helpful lady at the front desk! Have been with Joellen for over 5 years, initially she was great her she diagnosed me with pcos, something other doctors could not pin point. That is where my positive experience ends. Joellen is burned out it seems, she constantly forgets to call my scripts in (7 or 8 times out of 10?) It's a nightmare because she'll tell me at the appointment she's calling in the 30 day script right now (but forgets) and says one I get labs done she'll call in the 6 month of scripts. Well I do my labs and she calls in nothing. I call the office, they say they'll call me back. That never happens. I call a bunch of times and then finally am told both scripts are filled. Except 2 months later I find out no, she called in 2 scripts for 30 days each and has denied the rest of refills. It is madness. I've put up with negligent behavior from Joellen for entirely too long. Do yourself a favor and pick a different place. Update: Day 6 of trying to chase down someone to fix this issue. Have spent a few hours just on hold. The MA said she marked my case urgent yesterday and that joellens medical assistant would be getting my "case" as an urgent case. Its been a week and now and the front desk person just said it should be sent in soon, probably today or tomorrow. Finally they called my script in, full week later. Apparently they had sent a message through their patient portal when they denied the refill. However, ive long given up on portal because back in 2016 I believe I sent a refill message that wasn't read until I was sitting at the appointment. You might have some luck with portal now I guess. read more

This place is horrible, to start I had an appt Dec 2018 only to get billed this year Dec 2019. The front desk woman tells me I have a bill from last year and I had not received mail, or even on the portal stating of the bill. I tell the front desk I need to talk to Billing to understand what's going on. The billing person by the name Brooke goes on to tell me yes it's from last year and it got stuck being processed and that things like that happen. I'm like no it's not right fast forward I call my insurance who said they paid for this Jan 2019. Which was surprising they were just billing me Dec 2019. I called Brooke again from billing and I tell her I need to talk to her manager and I haven't heard anything since. I wasn't sure whether or not to write this, but I can't get over the way that I was treated and my concerns were completely dismissed. I've had heavy periods for a long time, sometimes they are so bad I get nauseous or light headed. I went to a different practice a few months ago who prescribed birth control, that made me sick and vomit at work so I discontinued it the week I was supposed to take the sugar pill. I've been in immense pain for a few days. Tuesday night, I went to urgent care and then to the ER who found a large hemorrhagic ovarian cyst, measuring 9.7x9.5x6.9cm. For context, that is the size of a newborn baby's head. The ER tells me to follow up with a gynecologist the following morning. I get home at around 2am, google gynecologists near me and this clinic popped up, with seemingly decent reviews. I make an appointment online, sleep for a few hours and go in at 8:30am for an 8:50 appointment. When we arrive, the receptionist recommends we go grab coffee so we don't have to wait as long. My partner left to grab some coffee for us. I'm taken back to the exam room, where I'm told I will see Lockwood instead of Embry. She comes in, doesn't really look at my medical records and spends about 20 minutes asking about my medical history. (Which I was at first impressed by.) I tell her I have had bad periods for a long time, and I'm here for a follow up exam for an ovarian cyst to determine if I need surgery. During this time, she recommends I get the HPV vaccine, wants to test me for STI's, and pulls out a diagram of a uterus. As if I were 10 years old she starts to explain to me what a period is. At this point I'm in so much pain I'm just trying to wait to see what the plan is. I tell her, that I am very much still in pain. She looks at me and says "well you shouldn't be. We do not prescribe narcotics here, we treat the problem." Do you? Because right now you're doing a whole lot of nothing. I am in the veterinary field, and even if I THOUGHT about saying my patient wasn't in pain my clients and supervisors would lose their mind. I look at my partner in disbelief. She proceeds to do a pelvic exam and says she can't feel anything, so the cyst must not be that big. If you do this ONLY as your job, and the ER doctor found it easily, I am terrified for your patients. I have an ultrasound report in my hands that give you the exact dimensions. She also told me that it was my fault that I have the cyst because I didn't take my birth control properly. She proceeds to look at our coffees and go "yeah, sugary drinks won't do you any good either." Well, if you had been on time for the appointment, maybe your staff wouldn't have TOLD US TO GO GET THEM. She tells me it will go away on its on and wants me to come back in 6 weeks for an ultrasound. I am furious at this point and I leave. They call me a few hours later saying they say on my discharge instructions that the ER wanted me to have an ultrasound done THAT DAY. So once again, my paperwork wasn't read through and my concerns were completely ignored. I go home and schedule for a second opinion in the afternoon. The doctor takes one look at my paperwork, and says I need to be scheduled immediately for surgery. He tells me he has seen women doubled over in pain for cysts 1/10th the size of mine, and there's almost NO chance it would go away on its own. Sure, cysts can go away on their own but AFTER FOUR CENTIMETERS - EXCISION IS CONSIDERED. My cyst is literally TWO AND A HALF TIMES THE SIZE. Lockwood was rude, dismissive, and ultimately incredibly disrespectful. Women are not heard enough in medicine, and to be treated like a child while I'm exhausted and in excruciating pain was horrible. I would not recommend anybody go to this clinic, because if someone deemed her worthy enough to hire as a practitioner I can only imagine how many women have continued to suffer due to her lack of care for her patients. read more

I've been going here for nearly 10 years and today I received a call 3 days before my appointment stating they no longer take Blue Cross insurance and I would be required to pay out of pocket. After months of waiting for an appointment I will now have to start over and find a new provider. I went for a COVID test. I didn't have to wait in line, drove right up. I was given my swab and a vial to put my swab in when swabbing was complete. I opened my vial to put my swab in and it already contained a swab. Obviously no attention to handling your test correctly. I was given a new vial & swab but REALLY! I was excited to go to this practice because of the great reviews, and word of mouth - I had heard good things. The NP I saw for annual women's wellness exams cracked jokes at my choice to use natural family planning. When I returned for my results of my cancer screening test, there were no results. They charged me for a visit and to take the test, and then no results, and the NP didn't even come out to reception to apologize. I was upset since I made special arrangements for my schedule. Now I only hear from them via an automated email I've tried to unsubscribe from. Disappointing. read more

Visited this practice in 2021 because Dr.Embry came highly recommended. Dr.Embry did nothing but talk and the billing department is a complete nightmare. Well Womens visits are 100% covered by insurance. They originally tried to charge me over $300. After calling everyday for months, the charge was reduced to $89 which is still incorrect because well Womens visits are ALWAYS covered no matter deductibles. After almost a year, Nicole the office manager assured me she had the charge removed. Now in 2023 I get a call saying I have an overdue balance of $89. I honest to god do not know how this office messed up such a simple bill. I work in the insurance industry and I am baffled. Please please please use any other practice. read more

Where do I start! When you make an appt, be prepared to wait in the waiting for at least an hour. The staff and jo Ellen are very nice and the office is great. She just has so much going on things tend to get "lost". My first visit was a normal exam which was two weeks before Xmas. She never put the order in to refill my BC and now there office is closed for a week for Xmas. It took SEveral days for me to EVEN get a hold of Jo Ellen for her to tell me she wasn't going to re fill it because I told her I got migraines 2 days before ever period. I had to visit a neurologist before she would re fill it. WHICH SHE NEVER TOLD ME IN OUR FIRST APPT! (Saw an actual doctor who told me is was very normal to get migraines before your cycle...) All In all I was off BC for a MONTH! I was told they wanted to take my blood to get a few test results from it. I had to set up another appt and come back. They never told me I could go directly to a lab and get it done until i was already there for my appt. so I was charged for a Full appt when all they did was draw my blood. They also sent my blood work to a lab that my insurance doesn't cover! They never called with the results but they definitely billed me! Over $200 later for something I could of done for free at a lab my insurance pays for... I will not be returning to this office. read more

Glad that got worked out! Previous review: I have to say I'm disappointed. Be very careful if you go here. I went here for my well women's checkup which is included with my provider. I waited for 45 minutes after my appointment's scheduled time. The receptionist and care provider were nice enough. The routine checkup was covered under my insurance, but the cultures they sent out as part of the well woman's exams they sent to a lab that was out of network with the provider they knew I had (Blue Cross). I am now being faced with a $200 bill just for having a typical well woman's exam, and that's WITH insurance. Not sure what to do. This is absurd. As a provider you have a duty to be as diligent as is reasonable with things like this for your patients. This is just irresponsible and lazy. read more

Absolutely loved it here! I've been to three doctors and I was told I need a hysterectomy, I'm only 27 and want children. The doctor here told me that is not my only cure and I now am on proper medication to fix my problem. The doctor here also really cares for her patients. I don't even know where to start with this review because that is how bad this place is...this facility should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. There is no urgency, care or any sort of ambition to get anything done here. I've been waiting to get a Nexplanon replacement since April 2023 and it is now July 2023. I have been incredibly patient with them throughout this entire process, but I am tired of waiting. They've lost 3 Nexplanon devices so far that they have ordered and each time never reached out to me or made any attempt to call me and update me. I have had to be the one to call in every single day reminding them to do their job. If I didn't call into this place, they would have 100% forgotten I was a patient waiting on a replacement from them with an expired Nexplanon in my arm that I got from THIS facility years ago. I'm not exaggerating when I say I have had to call into this place every single day for months to get an update because no one has made any attempt to take the initiative themselves here. I basically work here now and should be given a salary with all the effort I have put into this place. The only reason I have stuck with this place is because my insurance is fully covered here for this procedure and to be honest I do think the doctors do a good job. At this point, I am at a loss of words on what to do because I have never had such a horrid experience with a place before. I've called their office five times today and no one ever picks up (this is a normal experience - you have to call multiple times a day to reach someone). The only plus is the doctors at this location are fine, I've never had any issue with the doctors themselves. However, good luck getting to the stage where you actually get to meet the doctor and get what you need checked out! This place doesn't even deserve 1 star with the service they offer. If this headache of a facility does actually read this, please have a MANAGER call me because I am so sick of having to call you every single day to just get nothing done. I've called you 5 times today on 7/7/2023 and no one is picking up. Update: 7/12/23 - This facility has still not tried to contact me or even make any attempt to fix this. I've emailed them as well and they DO NOT RESPOND. I had an appointment scheduled so I could get in to get a prescription refilled. I desperately need this medication and to my fault waited until the last minute to schedule. However, they were able to get me in the next day. They didn't have record of who I had seen last and scheduled me with someone else which was a little weird to me. The day of my appointment I left work early to make it to this appointment, I walked into the office after they had already pushed it back 30 mins and they let me know "your provider (who isn't even the normal provider I see) had an emergency and is running behind so we need to reschedule." I was frustrated as I had left work for this but okay they were able to get me in the next day. The next day comes around and they call me about 30 minutes before my appointment to let me know that the provider was in meetings all day and would not be able to see me again. I was at work during this time and was not going to leave again if they were not going to be able to actually see me. I once again rescheduled my appointment for the next week. They let me know that they would talk to my provider and see if she could refill my prescription. Never got any follow up. I called the day of my rescheduled appointment to let them know I was sick with the flu and it was not at all possible for me to come in. To this they replied "it is a 100$ cancellation fee" keep in mind THEY had already canceled on me twice in the same week. I will not be returning to this office and have found a new office that is more courteous to my time and needs. read more

After having a terrible experience at another doctors office and having them LOSE my results (yikes!), I decided to seek elsewhere. I saw great reviews for Embry and decided to give it a shot. JoEllen was my provider and she made me feel extremely comfortable from beginning to end. Women's health visits aren't the most exciting thing to do, but JoEllen was kind, understanding and helpful. My results were posted in a timely manner and it's always easy and convenient to book an appointment here! I'm glad I found this facility & I will continue my 25 min commute here since I know it's worth the drive :) Highly recommended! read more

My husband and I went to test for Covid 12/28/20. There were way too many kids working there. I was super skeptical of a couple of them because they were holding vials in a tray, while texting laughing and playing. Long unfortunate story short, they lost my sample. I am beyond upset because they took my drivers license and insurance information as well. I spoke with Shannon the "Manager" who was absolutely not empathetic, condescending, rude, and totally obnoxious with a "things happen" attitude. The whole office is so welcoming and comforting, I've moved 20 miles away and I STILL go to see JoEllen for all of my women's healthcare. Let me just start by saying this incase you don't want to read the whole story. RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! The nurse practitioner who did a pelvic exam on me did not wash her hands ONE TIME from the moment we entered the room to the moment we left the room. No hand sanitizer either. I was desperate to be seen and already had so much anxiety from the way they handled everything up until this point that I didn't say anything to her I just left at the end of my appointment and I will never go back there. I'm so disappointed with the way I was treated. They are extremely desperate and greedy for every last penny they can get from their patients I've been going here since I was 18 and I'm 24 now Let me start from the beginning. I was desperate to be seen that day and lucky they could fit me in at 2pm great! I got to my appointment and everything was fine until the front desk kept insisting I must pay my 25$ co-pay even after I explained I met my out of pocket maximum and my insurance plan covers 100% of the visit. She and her coworker beside her told me if I didn't owe the 25$ I still had to pay it and they would send me a check in the mail if I was telling the truth. I refused and she said all she can do is reschedule me or give me the address of an ER and I couldn't go into my appointment (I'm a mother of a 8mo old and 2 year old and deal with post partum depression and anxiety, I don't have excess to a babysitter and previously stated this was urgent, I don't work to stay home and care for them so my husband can work and money is extremely tight with everything going on, I spent almost all my gas to get to the appointment.) at this point I'm extremely anxious and the front desk is being very hostile and refusing to talk to my insurance on the phone, I hear "the billing department" lady behind the door talking to the front desk in a rude abrasive tone refusing to accept what me and my insurance agent told them. I start having an anxiety attack in their office, shaking and crying all the blood rushing to my head and dizzy so I call my mom and have her take over, so my mother, my insurance agent and the billing department lady behind the door are on a 3way call and after she tells my mom and insurance lady they are both wrong going in a loop she demands an email stating that I don't owe my co-pay and tells the front desk to let me in to my appointment an hour later, she still insists that we are wrong and we got no apology or empathy for the fact I had an anxiety attack in front of them. No water in the office, no sense of care for their patient. I went back for my appointment and I was the last person there the nurse practitioner didn't even know I was there waiting and she rushed the appointment because she wanted to leave. She covered the bare minimum and rushed me out of the office never washing her hands once or asking me if I had any questions. This was the worst experience I've ever had and it was all over this office not getting their 25$ it stinks of greed and desperation to get every last cent they can out of their patients. After all of this chaos, I get a call the next day saying the lab they use doesn't accept my insurance (Cigna) and I can come back in a month when they do accept Cigna and leave a new sample... I'm just blown away lol xD I can go on about my sisters experience but this is getting to be a long story. Basically my sister has endometriosis and Joellen prescribed her an estrogen birth control (which makes endometriosis way worse) because it was more expensive. My sister only found out what she had done when she visited with a nurse practitioner who told her that she and Joellen had a discussion about how they never give patients with endometriosis an estrogen based birth control (I suppose the fact that it was very expensive was why she prescribed it) read more

JoEllen was great! I'm older and haven't been to Ob/Gyn in several years. She made me feel at ease just upon meeting her. She was thorough, intelligent, easy to understand and willing to discuss medical concerns/issues with my partner and I. I am happy I was referred to her practice. Good luck getting anyone to answer the phone, return a call, or respond to an online message sent through the portal. And they need to fix their online portal verification- system is not working as it's supposed to. Disappointing all around. read more

Their womens health clinic sucks. Their billing is beyond inconsistent, every visit has been a different cost for the same type of appointment. They don't send you invoices until MONTHS later. I had to give them my updated insurance 4 separate times before someone actually corrected it in their system. When discussing family history and medical issues the dr told me "she's going to die" after telling her about a certain family members health. Will never be returning read more
