I've had an especially hard time losing the many pounds I packed on due to taking mood stabilizers. Frustrated and desperately seeking a program that would help me shed pounds for my upcoming wedding, seeing Liz's video was a call to my soul! I decided to fully commit to the program and hope for the best... In 6 weeks, I lost just over 11 lbs! I love the Opposing Force familia. They are a quirky group but they keep things entertaining! The workouts with Jake and Cody continue to kick my butt every morning. Your sore muscles will be a testament that it's working! It's great that you get individualized coaching on your form even in a class setting. The nutrition plan provided by Liz really does get results! I also love that the trainers are constantly checking in with you, ready to answer questions and keep you on your game. This family is a fun one: they have themed workouts for holidays and put together extra contests to help everyone achieve their goals. I'll be sticking with this gym for the long run because of the results!

However I only lost about 3 % body fat as well as the $500 I paid upfront for the 6 week program. The nutrition component was missing and I did not feel very welcomed by the nutrition expert. Cody also gave me some advice on nutrition which was a little helpful. The one plus I got from this program was that I started lifting weights for the first time in my life. The workouts are all amazing however. EXPENSIVE but if you can afford it and have your diet down, totally give them a try.

I was looking for something different that would help strengthen my back and neck, but also help stretch out my tight muscles. I used to go to physical therapy that used Pilates machines, so this was perfect for my needs. First of all, Jamie (owner) was so responsive and helpful when the studio had their grand opening. She always responded to my questions via text or on Facebook when I first reached out. The nice thing about this place is that it seems most everyone joining is new to Pilates. And everyone is coming in all shapes and sizes. The instructor asks if anyone has any issues or pain in which they need modification of exercises. I find the classes relaxing, but my body is getting toned. I am noticing a difference after just 8 classes. I have been going 5 days per week to try to establish a new routine. You book the classes in their app, which I also love because it keeps me committed to GOING to my class instead of making excuses and then not going. If you have the unlimited plan (like I do), you get charged $10 if you cancel a class within 12 hours of the class starting. The level below this one allows for 8 sessions per month and if you don't cancel within the 12-hour window, you lose 1 class credit (of your 8 credits for the month). The staff is so friendly.....as are the other members. Very cute studio and brand new machines. They are offering a free 30-minute trial class so you can try before you buy.

If you've never been to a barre class, I recommend checking…read moreout your nearest Pure Barre and if you happen to live even remotely close to Naperville, I recommend you go to this one. I used to go to Pure Barre in Texas, but I ended up taking an almost two year hiatus because my schedule got a little bit to hectic to commit. Now that I have some flexibility, I booked a class at this Pure Barre and headed in. The classes have been exactly what I was used to, but they're also different which is what I love about PB. You know what you're getting into once you've been to one class, but classes are just different enough each time that it never gets boring. So far I've only taken classes with Carly and she's really great! She stays on top of the whole class and ensures that everyone is using proper technique. Don't worry if you've never taken a class before, the instructors won't single you out, they'll come over to you privately and help you to find the right pose/posture. The owner, Kristy, is also a gem. She's super friendly and very welcoming to everyone. The one thing that really sticks out to me about this studio over others that I've been to, is class size. I used to have to workout really early or at lunch to avoid being in a packed to the brim class in Texas (they did end up opening a second location so I'm sure that alleviated some of the congestion), but this Naperville location is perfect. So far I've only gone to the 9:30am classes during the week, but they really aren't packed. I never feel like I'm trying to define my own personal space in this studio. If you want to try a new workout that isn't crazy intense on your body, but will still be challenging and changing... this is the workout for you! It's a great change of pace from yoga with the faster pace of Pilates. And this studio is top notch!
