We ordered a pizza to go, had a movie at home we wanted to watch. We went in, everyone was really nice, what a cute place to go eat. Also they had a wine self serve dispenser! Our pizza, however was nothing special and cost $19 with a tip. It tasted like it was pre-packaged and just heated up, very doughy with not much flavor, unfortunate! We were really looking forward to it. We look forward to going back, trying something else and eating in the restaurant. read more

One of our favorites! Lively, great food, and nice ambiance. Sits in the heart of Sonora on Washington Street. Whenever we have company come to town, it's our first choice to bring them and always a fun night out in Sonora. The bartender, Guermo (sp?) makes awesome drinks and is quite entertaining. Three or so weeks ago, (I AM A LOCAL) so this means, one of many visits. We had terrible service, the food was good, except the Margarita Pizza was dry and had three pieces of tomato...that was not good, - DRY AND BURNT. I read our local food review online and mentioned it. I was bashed by people who felt I should not say anything negative. I was being honest. A person who represented themselves as the owner said to call her, I did the following work day on or about about 2:00 p.m. and left a message. No response. This last weekend, there were reviews that mimic mine. I said the manager said she wanted to talk to me but simply gave me lip service since she never returned my call. In todays's response (thread of other people who said service was awful) She said she never got a call, I offered to provide to her a copy of my cell bill showing I did and left a message. She came back me, I then said I have (which I did) inquire who truly owns the restaurant through the State of California Business License and ABC after her response. I was then removed from the media thread. I reported that I believe minors were served alcohol next to me and no I.D.'s were requested when we were present. They thought it was a riot afte they got their drinks...and the waitress could careless. So folks, when you are considering to go to this restaurant, it is a hit or miss on the quality of food, but no service is more than lacking. In fact, there is no service, albeit they are very quick to give you their bill and expect payment and tips. What a shame.... read more

Several if us came up for a woman's conference staying at the Best Western. These locals do have their favorites so just ask! This friendly town (Sonora) has hidden gems to eat at. This is a must to try. The decor is comfortable modern w an artistic twist inside a bar. We decide to split between 2of us the white garlic sauce w chicken pizza an both had the wedge salad. We could finish the pizza even though it was the best tasty pizza ever! The wedge salad had there home made dressing on it sorta like thousand island an again so enjoyable. I love embers. I get dinner there probably twice a week. The burgers are always juicy and delicious. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and is always happy with her salads. The baked embers, the loaded tots and the garlic bread are amazing appetizers. It can get a tad crowded but their food and atmosphere are the cause. The bar is small but always well stocked. They aren't as stingy with booze as most places up here. One of my favorite places in Sonora for sure. read more

We came to this place hungry and tired from a long day in Yosemite, and we left very full and pleased with the service. The loaded tater tots were super good! My friend and I ordered the pasta puttanesca and the chicken with Dijon and pancetta. The flavor was great, but both of our plates were literally swimming in oil. Picked up 2 pepperoni perfection pizzas. Ordering and pick up service were great. pizzas were larger than expected. Two of us were full on 1 pizza. While it was good at first, we soon noticed it was too salty. Before long we could eat it. Take the salt out and it would be 5 star. read more

We loved Emberz! Went on a hopping Saturday night at about 9:30. Waited 20 minutes for a table. Staff was friendly and helpful. Advised us of the status of our table a few times. Live music was great and jumping. Lots of people dancing. We had the Mac n cheese and a Margherita pizza. Both were delicious. Had a signature cocktail with plenty of alcohol. Prices very reasonable. Embers was my favorite place to eat but the last two sandwiches had to be eaten with a fork and washcloth. Too messy the flavor is great but the construction is poor. Service is SLOW. For 14.00 I shouldn't have so much aggravation for lunch. read more

My friend dropped in to Emberz for the first tme 2 weeks ago and said "they have the best burger I've ever eaten". He's 60 and burgers are his favorite food and even though I'm not a fan of beef - I had to try it out. HE WAS RIGHT! I ordered one of the burgers from the menu that comes with grilled onions, bacon, smoked gouda (less the egg). and it was excellent. I try to never salt my food but this one needed it. Aside from that, it had fantastic flavor, great temp. not to much juice - very nice texture. The waitress didn't ask our cooking wellness preference so it came medium to medium well, which was perfect. Everything on it was stacked tall on an out-of the-ordinary ciabatta-style bun, so it takes the full range of your jaw hinge to open up to take a bite. I tried to have the FULL cheat day with a side order of sweet potato fries, but they were out of them - so a side salad sufficed. The only true disappointment was the sad, limp, soggy ice cold pickle served next to burger excellence. If a pickle doesn't snap, don't serve it! Any how, If your heading waaay north, this place is well worth the stop. I'll definitely stop in on my next trip next month - with my own pickles. read more

Most of the old menu was pretty good, wish they would post the new menu on here instead of that old dead link from a year ago. The guy who's known the owners for 20 years can't cook a steak to order to save his life and the frozen fish was mushy and tasteless every time I had it. Also the toilet has had a sign up for 6 months asking us to hold the dirty handle down for a period of time to flush instead of fixing the toilet. It's a five dollar part from Lowe's. Such a great place, but it's all in the details for me. read more

I've eaten here with large groups, ladies night and on dates with my husband and every time the food and drinks have been amazing. We've had nights where everyone picked an appetizer to share, because they all look great. The pizzas are perfect! I'm a huge fan of the lemon drop martini. I like to park behind the restaurant and enter through the back entrance. Some of these older buildings it can be confusing where to park and enter. read more

Based on trying only one dish, the Pepperoni Perfection wood-fired pizza, Emberz gets a two-star Meh. Billed as wood-fired pizza cooked at 800 degrees until the "crust is nice and dark," we were salivating in anticipation and hunger. Nothing like a late afternoon slice of pie washed down with a cold one! If it had been cooked through, it would have been a sparsley appointed average pizza. What we were actually served was an undercooked doughy mess. By the time our server reappeared, hunger had won out and we had already picked the meager cheese and Pepperoni off the sticky dough. We might go back at some point to give the other menu items a chance, but it won't be our pizza go-to when in Sonora. read more

This place is one of my favorites in Sonora, I will not even count that the restaurant is a bit small the food is great, the pizza is amazing. Like a lot of the places around here the veggies taste fresh. They use a brick oven for their pizza that the crust is never under or overdone. They have music sometimes as well. Good place in downtown Sonora. Bar has good range of bottles available and they can make some pretty tasty cocktails. Would like to see more options (bottled or taps) for craft beer, but what they do have is good stuff. Staff is very pleasant although the wait times on food can be pretty high. Not a big deal if you're just relaxing for a night out. Pizzas, burgers and appetizers we've had have all been good. Only major word of warning - if they've got live music (Wednesday nights usually), make sure that's what you want because that's all you'll be able to hear while you're there. read more

I like this restaurant. I go there for lunch with my girlfriends, we always have a great time. Great service too. I especially like their coffee served in a coffee press, extra special. One of my favorite dishes is the French Onion soup, it's a decadent culinary delight. read more

I have not tried the Yelp check-in, but I did try the God-Yes Salad and LOVED it. The dressing was very flavorful and I thoroughly enjoyed my food, but my bf on the other hand, did not enjoy his burger. My friends tried their chicken wings and said it was good. Made a reservation for 6:30 with family from out of town just to be turned away because we had a 2 month old baby in our party. We were told because of our 2 month old we could not be seated on one half of the restaurant because it was an over 21 area also because of the"ambience". It was discussed with the servers that there were a number of customers sitting in the over 21 area that were not of age. It was very clear in that respect. The other side of the restaurant that can accommodate all ages has an actual bar- hard alcohol/beer unfortunately all seats were taken. So be warned if you make reservations and have a baby. This is our third trip to Emberz. They have expanded which is amazing. They are in the middle of adjusting but the owner/manager made up for the errors that occured 1000%. We will be visiting again. Tried to come here on a Saturday night but was too busy so I decided to bring my family for dinner on Sunday. Calamari was great and my burger was nicely seasoned. Giving a low rating for a couple reasons. Linguini and clams is listed as a special out side and priced as $20 as well as priced the same on the inside of the restaurant. When I asked my server why was I charged $26 and she told me the zeros were "6s" and she would have someone rewrite it. Didn't feel like arguing and if I didn't notice after I signed and gave a pretty good tip anyway. My daughters asparagus was cooked poorly and both daughters food came out 10 min after mine cause the oven was "too busy". I'm in the industry and these minor details were a fail by both front and back of house managers. I won't be back. Kind of a bummer cause it was a cool looking spot. Would have rated 2 stars but they forgot to charge me for an iced tea. I'll take this little victory and go somewhere else next time read more
