Buyers beware! I was referred to this jeweler by family of the intended ring recipient. Arrangements were made at the business address to size and complete payment for the ring. When CASH was paid for the ring a receipt was requested, but the owner (Bridget Durnell) declined to provide one. I was uncomfortable with this, however when your soon to be is wearing her future wedding ring and giving you the look, I reluctantly let it be as I did have an appraisal from Durnell. As things happen, the ring was no longer needed and it became a matter of selling it. I had received an appraisal from Durnell, however the ring was purchased without a receipt and it was clear prospective buyers wanted to know where the ring was purchased. I contacted Durnell for a receipt for the amount paid and was denied. I was told no receipt could be provided as her establishment was not the seller!?! I was told Durnell was acting only as a conduit for the actual owner selling the ring. This was a complete surprise to me and at no point during our dealings did Bridget Durnell indicate she was acting as broker to the transaction. If she was, it was never disclosed, or if she was being paid a fee or not. I have made several requests to obtain a purchase receipt from this establishment and have been denied each time. As an accommodation from her, I have made requests to have this establishment contact the real "seller" of the Tiffany ring in an attempt to obtain the original paperwork to further establish authenticity. Each request has been met with apathetic dismisal. My motivation to white this review was to warn other prospective shoppers: Don't trust, and get it in writing. Know who you are dealing with and, even with family endorsements, check the reviews of establishments you are considering doing business with. Past customers are always your best indicator of business integrity.
