Used to be a great place to go get low cost medication for your pets if you didn't have $100,000 job a year! But now it is so freaking frustrating just to get anything from them. Have to see your pet to get flea meds! ok no problem, how long is that wait!?! anywhere from 2 -3 hours if you are lucky! I don't know about you but 2 - 3 hours to sit around with a dog or a cat in a waiting room with other cats and dogs is COMPLETE FUCKING BULLSHIT!!!!!!!! I understand there is always reasons for the problems they have but does not do anything for me other than give up my fucking dog because i can't afford flea meds from a vet!!!!!!!!!! read more

Went here to get my dog's annual check up and 3 year's rabies vaccinations. Got my dog spayed here as they were a low cost clinic ($69 vs $260 for spaying service!!!) When making initial contact with them I thought they took reservations online but got a message stating that all vaccinations were on a walk-in basis. Okay, waiting it is then. Came here about 8:45am and waited almost 3 hours for her to get seen. The customer service was exceptionally good. There were lots of other animals waiting as well. They DO have a waitlist system so once you do your paperwork they out on their lost of people n then text you when you're approximately 30 minutes from being seen! How awesome is that!! The tech and get were very knowledgeable and got appt done in no time at all. All shots are $15 each and office visit fee is $5. Total for 3 vaccines and office visit fee was $50! Cheaper than seeing a vet for sure! Will definitely recommend them for low-cost vet services though you have to wait BECAUSE they're low-cost. TOTALLY WORTH IT. Terrible experience on multiple accounts! Starting off the wait time is ridiculous. Waited in my car with both of my pets for over 3 hours with not a text or email to confirm or give updates on the status of my pets being seen. This wasn't my first bad experience with this establishment either... The first time I came they gave my cat a booster shot that needed another shot 3 weeks later & then an additional shot 3 weeks after that, without informing me. Being that my cat has troubles with traveling, this was very irritating to me and I feel as if this should've been communicated prior my cat receiving the booster. I wasn't going to post anything but honestly, people need to know that this is NOT an inexpensive place to take your pets and they don't really care anything about good service. I had one dog that just needed ONE shot and nothing else. The other dog needed 3 and needed her flea and tick/heartworm refilled. The visit cost $335.00!!!! I really think I could have just gone to my regular vet for that much! And that's what I'll do in the future for sure. Additionally, I was trying to be courteous because I had my son's dog and wasn't sure how she'd do so I arrived just before 10am so I could get in and out quickly. To my surprise, they obviously opened early because people were already going in and there were at least 12 people in front of me already BEFORE the place even opened! I even had the courtesy of calling ahead of time to see if I needed an appointment and to make sure I had the right hours and everything. You think they would have mentioned that lines obviously queue up prior to opening and that they might actually let people in prior to the opening time of 10am. But no, they didn't think to mention that even though it was really important and because of that, I had to endure a grouchy old woman openly criticizing me because my son's dog was so loud! The staff should have been the one to endure that berating. I didn't deserve it as I had made every reasonable effort to avoid it! Lastly, I could not get a receipt at the counter for some reason and it also was not sent with my visit summary, as promised. I finally found it in a different email because they apparently use Square so it came to the email associated with Square. Could have told me that but again, no. I don't recommend this clinic. 1. The staff might be friendly but they don't care, or at least they simply aren't trained well enough to be proactive, nor do they make any effort to control the crowding or advise about alternate places to wait (they were sending certain people to some second lobby that I was never offered.) 2. They are unorganized and deceitful about operating hours and wait times. Even though I came right at opening, 10 am, I had to wait an hour and 15 minutes. Be prepared for a cramped lobby and a LONG wait. and 3. They only care about taking your money; they don't care about giving you a receipt or letting you know what you actually paid for. Although I found the Square email, it was not itemized and I sure as heck would like to know how it came up to $335.00!!! Go to your regular vet. This place wants you to think they are affordable but they are not, nor is it a pleasant experience. read more

We had two puppies that we needed neutered. Our vet wanted $400 to do one, and $700 for the other because he has an un-descended testicle. I called Emancipet and was told it would be around $65 each, and an additional $25 for the un-descended testicle. I walked out for a little over $200, including pain meds, flea meds, and heartworm meds. Plus, the tech sent me a picture of the two puppies cuddling in a kennel together after the surgery. I know everyone has their own experiences and it's either really good or really traumatic. I would give this zero stars if I could, but Yelp makes me give at least one. So they get one star for the price. You know that saying, "you get a what you pay for" well that's certainly the case for this place in my book. The reviews on this place are fabulous, so I was thoroughly excited to drop off my pup to have him neutered. First I get there at 8am, walk up and only to wait minutes to finally have someone tell me oh walk around back by the dumpsters and drop them off there. Okay, so first impression was this is very disorganized, but I get it. Covid. So we walk around back and I'm greeted by a not so friendly female who doesn't say but one word and just reaches for my dogs leash. Taken off guard, She quickly runs by the rules, no smile or an ounce of compassion like many of the other reviews say. She yanks my dog into the building. I should've known then to turn around and go somewhere else. something just felt off. They told me expect a call or text around 3 for and update. Well I Never got an update and it's approaching 415, so I finally call the main office and get ahold of someone after waiting 30 min for an automated system to call me back. They tell me oh he's been ready you can go pick him up. I get there and wait in line to pay. They're going over everything and stated oh we had to give your dog 2.5mg of trazodone due to his severe anxiety before surgery. Okay weird he's never had a problem at the vet, groomers, or boarding place but sure. Then they charge me for their cone (I had a soft one at home) and their very demanding reasoning "he was just biting and licking at the incision doctors orders he must have it. You cannot take it off" okay I understand but explained I had my own. Didn't need the cheap plastic one. Lady at the counter was extremely rude and defensive the entire time. They didn't even go over the protocol or give me a number to call if their was a problem. I HAD TO REQUEST IT. Finally they tell me wait outside and they'll bring him out. They go back and get him and I can see through the glass they are DRAGGING him through the clinic, so I March inside and grab my dog. They were more worried about if I paid for the stupid plastic cone than my dogs well being. When I got him back he was covered in his own urine, his face was completely soaked, and not to mention he smelt horrendous. Anytime I went to touch his front paws or pet him he SCREAMED (they didn't do an IV). My poor pup was so traumatized that he was scared of his owners touch. I'm not sure what went on behind the scenes but it wasn't good. My experience was awful and I cannot and will not recommend this place for spay and neuters. read more

So happy we went to Emancipet! I was a little nervous at first to schedule her spay as they weren't my dogs normal vet. But at thrive they wanted to charge over $300 dollars for her surgery and when I had questions they never knew the answer I had to have a full appointment set so someone could answer me. At Emancipet I called one time and all my questions were answered and my appt was scheduled. When we went into the office all the employees were very kind. I Checked in at 8:00 am and by 8:45 am after being asked questions about her health, and making sure I understood the paper work I signed. Before I left they made sure they had the correct phone number to contact me. and reminded me to be there to pick her up by 5 pm. At 2:45 pm I received a phone call letting me know she was recovering nicely would be available for pick up at 4pm. I arrived and picked her up at 445 pm. She was awake and a little groggy but she recognized me. The explained to me the recovery process. I was able to pay via Debit Visa and was in and out with in 15 minutes. My kitty is doing very well and is healthy and happy as usual. I would recommend and be back to use this clinic again for services. The staff is friendly and very nice to all the pets and pet owners. I can not say enough about how great Emancipet is. Everyone working here is kind, caring, and attentive. We brought our female cat Susu to be spayed last week at their mobile van. It was totally free including the antibiotics. She's very active and although we kept her confined she was licking at the stitches. Got her a collar from petsmart, which was hard to work with and she was unable to eat with it on. After taking it off for her to eat yesterday, I noticed a small hole in her stitches that was not there 5 mins before. I called the emergency line, freaking out, and the Dr. on call advised that I go to the clinic in the morning. First, they replaced that terrible collar with a soft cloth one, again at no charge. They cleaned up her stitching area and advised that she should be fine as long as the wound doesn't get any worse. Gave us another dose of the antibiotic... for a fraction of what it would cost elsewhere, and sent us on our way. I had a great experience here. My first fear of being there for a million years was quieted by being in and out within an hour with two dogs on a Saturday morning. I was just there to get heart worm and flea stuff but still, I only paid a $5 visit fee which is $30 less than my vet would charge and I got what I needed. The only thing I would say, which can't be helped by the place itself is that the front desk staff could try to say something to people that are letting their dogs act like fools - or I should say, the people acting like fools not controlling their dog (s). They take her back and wouldn't let me get her out of her cage and because she was angry they wouldn't give her shots and wouldn't let me go back and hold her so they can give them to her. I have been coming to Emancipet for the past 9 years. It's always been a pleasant experience and never had any issues until yesterday. The two women at the front were rude and unprofessional-horrible attitudes. I was told it would be an hour and a half wait so I was put on the list. Two hours go by so I ask my place in line and they tell me it's going to be another hour. Now it's been three hours and I still haven't been called back. Then they tell me there's two people ahead of me and I waited another forty five minutes. So in short, I was told my wait was an hour and a half and ended up being four hours. The workers were incredibly rude, picking favorites and purposely making my time there harder than it needed to be. I will NEVER go back and I will tell everyone else about my experience as well. I've never been treated badly there by employees and I've never been lied to about a wait time. I had to wait 2.5 hrs longer than stated. read more

I took my dogs on a Saturday to get a simple rabies vaccination, flea and tick meds and heart worm prevention. no big deal. The line que was great. You get checked in, they text you when they can take your dog. No problem at all. It took all day to get a text BUT you can go on with all the other stuff you need to do so no problem. My problem came when I brought my dogs back. They were able to get them in for the rabies shot within 10 mins and it took 90 mins AFTER I got my dogs back to just pay the bill. Best part, I decided to get just 1 year worth of flea and tick and heart worm so I didnt have to do this again for awhile.... the meds they gave me expire in 3 months.... THEY EXPIRE IN 3 MONTHS!! Would not recommend this clinic for neuter surgery. Left my Bucky with them for a neuter and when I picked him up, they had laid a pad inside his carrier. I thought it was a kind thought until I got him to the car and realized that the smell was overwhelming. He was soaked, back end and belly in pee. There was pee puddles in the pad and he was laid in it for god knows how long. I understand the clinics are overrun with surgery and they have limited capacity to hold animals, but I firmly believe they should not have left him in his pee especially in such a small confined space. read more

We've been using Emancipet for our doggos' regular vaccinations for 2 years now, and both times I've been, our experience has been exceptional. On our first visit, it was just me with our 2 dogs & our former roommate's 2 dogs, and one of the dogs' collars broke as I was trying to wrangle everyone inside...to say I was overwhelmed is an understatement! The staff inside saw my struggle and immediately came out to help. They helped me hold all the dogs while I filled out all the paperwork, and, since it was slow, they gave a couple of the pups a free nail trim, which was hugely appreciated. When I got my crew back into an exam room, the vet was very personable and knowledgeable and gave me lots of good info & suggestions for each dog. Getting four dogs rabies & parvo vaxxed for under $200 was an absolute bargain, and the staff made the experience all the better. This year, it was again just me, but I thankfully only had our 2 pups. They were ~much~ busier than my previous visit, so they had me fill out the forms and added me to an e-waitlist for the estimated 3hr wait, which texted me a link I could check in real-time and then also texted me 30min before my estimated appointment time. This was super helpful and let me catch up on errands in the area while not worrying I'd miss their appointment. This time, even though my 2 had just been to the bathroom, they took the opportunity to leave everyone a gift three separate times during the approximately 15min appointment and the staff was super understanding and quick to offer waste bags & spray to clean behind them. I felt terrible about it, but they were really great given the crappy (hyuck) situation, lol. Again, the vet was great and my pups seemed to like her pretty well. I found out that, after you get 1 rabies vax from them, they'll administer a 3yr rabies vax the next time and for the same rock bottom price ($15)! If you need to save a little coin on your pet's maintenance vaccines, heart worm/flea meds, or spay/neuter, definitely give this location a go! read more

I have only taken one dog here, just to get all the new dog shots, microchip, and neuter. But we ended up seeing a LOT of the Emancipet staff because the poor pup had a more difficult time than most with his surgery site healing. From start to finish, Emancipet staff were responsive and compassionate, although they work in a super busy clinic and see a lot of animals each day. When I was worried about swelling at the surgery site, I called them at least two or three times over the weekend. They have off-hours staff or volunteers who will answer any questions and help you figure out if something is an emergency or not. I will also add that I found their scheduling process to be super easy, and the fees are really affordable. I believe they have special free day services too for when you are really strapped for cash. They're a nonprofit and this is what they do. Really grateful to have them around. read more

I want to give more stars because the services they offer are absolutely necessary and affordable and the vet tech I initially met was great, I wish I paid more attention to her name. However.....The wait times and waiting room setup are unacceptable. The room that you walk in to check in your pets is very very tiny. There's about 8-9 chairs and a small desk where a very personable (sarcasm) attendant is waiting to kindly (also sarcastic) assist you. When I walked in to drop my dog off for her spay, there was not only no room to sit, but there was also hardly any room to stand. I will take partial blame for this because I was running a little bit late (I arrived around 8:10 as opposed to the original 8:00 check-in) due to some car issues from the cold. It was comfortably after 9:00 when I left. I can't really blame Emancipet for the lack of space because several people were dropping off multiple pets and others brought several members of their family with them. However, if you're able to provide the amount of services per day, the check-in policy/set up should be more accommodating. Unfortunately, the setting reminded me of a very crowded ER waiting room. Here's the problem. My dog went MIA at pick up. Due to my work schedule, my SO had to pick up my puppy. I warned him of the crowded situation and told him to be prepared. He messaged me before 5:00 to say he was there and also mentioned how crazy the room was. He was greeted by a vet tech about about 20 minutes with my pup's paperwork and medication, but no pup. He was told to go ahead and pay for her and she'd be brought out to him quickly. During this time, he watched a couple try to be handed the wrong crate for their animal. Fast forward half an hour and the waiting room emptying and filling up again and then emptying and filling up again and still no dog (he explained it to being sat in a restaurant and watching the family that was sat after you get their food and pay before your order comes). He went to the kindly gentleman (sarcasm) at the front and asked where his dog was and if everything was ok with her to be told that yelling doesn't make things go faster and they were clearly very busy. His response was typical, "Sir, if I was yelling, your entire facility would hear me. He was met with giggles from those sitting by the front telling him that nothing about what he was doing was yelling. The kindly gentleman then went in the back to "look" for our puppy. "Is there a Peyton back here?" Not asking WHERE is she but asking if she was even back there. Is this a common problem? Do dogs get passed to the wrong person? Luckily, she was found after a few minutes. I understand that it can be chaotic in these situations, but the email said, "allow for 30 minute check-in". Nothing about either of our experiences was close to 30 minutes. read more

Erin is lovely, as is the rest of the staff. She's been a joy to watch with clients, and especially the dogs. She was all the things We're here for heartworm prevention - crazy affordable. Erin is Informative, concise, kind, great energy between the time I saw her early morning and later in the day. She's genuine and I watched her calm a dog who's owners couldn't calm. She's GREAT with the clients, and her staff And she didn't leave us out! Came by and gave my dog a treat he was excited to have. Later I found out that the process was denied because they were a third party. Im a bit annoyed after being told something would happen but in reality, it wasn't going to occur. This is my first time coming here and I really had a good overall experience. I did try to go the previous evening but the wait time was over an hour. So I decided to come back the next day at 9:30 am, that is when they start taking paper work. The don't start working on animals until 10 am for shots. The receptionist was really nice, I felt bad for her bc there was a rude guy that came in there to complain about how busy it was. The reviews that I've read are pretty correct on the wait time, we didn't even get waited on until two hours later. But I didn't mind, I had plenty of time and I had a seat. Make sure to get there early! I'm not joking, that place fills up fast, and chairs are limited. The nice thing about this place, even if the wait is long you are able to check in and they will text you 30 minutes before your turn. When we were finally helped, the staff was very nice and treated my dog nice as well. I really like how affordable this place is, I ended up needing tapeworm medicine, two months worth of flea, tick, and heartworm medicine. Plus I had to get a heartworm test and it only cost me $70! You can't beat that. I was expecting to pay over a hundred dollars. So happy I was able to find this place, this will be my new vet place to take my precious dog Bella to. I would have given it 5 stars, but due to the wait time and how crowded the little room was when waiting. Made me give it 4 stars, but I definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a affordable vet. read more

Today I took my dog in for her vaccines and I learned they've even figured out a way around the wait times! Their new system texts you a link to a website with the waiting room list *and* sends you a text 30 minutes before they'll be ready to see your pet. So, now you can check in and go run errands or go home for a nap. Just come back for your not-appointment! It's so great because it's so much less stressful on pets *and* humans, especially since the Pflugerville location's lobby is pretty cramped. I'm really excited about this innovation that will make visits to Emancipet more enjoyable for everyone.
