2nd year with them! I love going here because it's affordable. Word of advice go on weekdays. Expect long wait times (2-4 hours) if you're going during the weekend. COVID-19. They have a "receptionist" outside who puts you on a waitlist (essentially making an appointment for that day). You can't call to make an appointment as far as I know; you have to physically go there and register to be on the waitlist. Inside they have benches that follow social distancing. Very accommodating - they offer hand sanitizer paper towels and dog poop bags for your babies' accidents. (Forgot to add, they have a lot of Spanish speaking staff members as well!) Super friendly staff who answered my countless questions about vaccines/prevention and how to take the meds. They made my visit there all the better! I herd good things about Emancipet. I have three male cats that I wanted neutered as we moved to a new place and have a baby coming soon and they were acting territorial and we didn't want them to try spraying. Scheduling was easy. I was able to get an appointment the following week (remember to check the website to see the wait time as it depends on animal and weight) The day off check in was a bit hectic. The vet tech that assisted me rushed the process and didn't tell me about the prices of extra services. She added on a nail trim and e collar but didn't tell me how much it cost because at most vets they include that with the surgery. Why I gave them a 3 star was because it ended up being expensive and there was a huge miscommunication with my animals. I got an email saying two of my cats had fleas. That's strange but whatever and one cat had tapeworms. While we were picking up the animals, I asked the vet tech behind the counter about the fleas but then another vet tech that brought our cats out told me she didn't see any fleas on the cats. It confused me because I didn't know what was going on. We chose not to do the flea medication because apparently even though they didnt have fleas they did get flea medication. I paid extra for the tapework medication for my cat that apparently had tapeworms and I paid extra for rabies shots and two box carriers For 3 cats it was almost $500. I wish the free van had openings for all three of my cats. Emanicpet is suppose to be for low income community members. I'm barely getting back on my feet and this surgery took a huge hit on my finances. They should have applications and grants for these costs. All of the staff was very nice, and the vet tech even said she would try to play with my kitten during the day! Very affordable prices and was able to get an appointment just one week in advance. Thank goodness for NPO Emancipet. This location offers basic vet care, along with spay and neuter services all at discounted rate. I'm a dog mom of two that already have their primary vet, but I try to re-home neighborhood strays. I wanted to spay my fifth stray, "Pittie," in hopes of better chances of rehoming her. My regular vet quoted me a "discounted" rate for a rescue, but the price couldn't even compare to the spay/neuter rate at Emancipet ($69). I made Pittie's initial spay appointment in August 2019; the earliest I could get her spayed was Feb 2020. I went forward with that date, but fortunately I was contacted by their team in early October and was able to get her in that same month. The process was easy. They email you all the pre-op info. You do an 8am drop off, and a 5pm pick up (unless contacted earlier). She was provided with pain meds, and post-opp instructions. I purchased 2 months worth of flea preventative, 2 months worth of heartworm preventative, spay services, and micro chipping, post opp meds ...all for $147! I was looking at $400 for spay services alone elsewhere. Good news is I can continue to purchase Pittie's flea + heartworm preventative meds at their discounted rate for a full year since she's their patient. Note they are not a full-service veterinary clinic. They do not diagnose or treat illnesses or injuries. They do, however, flea + tick control, heartworm prevention, microchipping, nail trim, spay/neuter, vaccinations, and other preventative medications. Took my puppy here a week weeks ago to get her vaccinations. Very affordable prices and carrying staff. They have towels and water for the dogs as you wait. This is a walk in clinic so make sure you get here early enough so that your dog can get the care they need. Only down side is that you can't go in with your dog/cat and have to hand them off to the staff for them to be seen by the vet. Other than that. Great place and 10/10 recommend! read more

I dropped a pet off to be spayed. I was never asked her vaccination status but received a not so nice text saying that I had til 1pm to submit proof of vaccination status or she would be revaccinated at my expense. not only would I have been able to produce proof of vaccination but she went into surgery with her rabies tag on her collar. the particular day I was at the clinic their credit card machine was down so I dared to go into the clinic and see if I needed to come in and make payment with cash. again, condescending tone about how nothing would be done until exactly 4pm. the savings just aren't worth the hassle. read more

If you read and understand their website where they clearly describe the services they offer and those that they do not, you'll likely agree that this place is true gem for dog and cat owners. They are always super busy and long wait times (they don't take appointments for vaccinations) are not uncommon BUT have a great system in place for efficient service even during the pandemic and at quite reasonable prices. I visited on a Wednesday morning about 11am and got on the list for vaccinations and microchips for two kittens. They took my name, cell #, put me on the list and advised it would be about a four hour wait. But their waitlist system allowed me to leave and monitor my place on the list from my cellphone. When I was within about 20 minutes of being "next" on the list, I received a text to let me know that I should head back with the kittens at that time. I arrived back there about 15-20 minutes later and was immediately allowed into their socially distanced waiting room. My kittens were seen quickly and I was in and out in probably 15-20 minutes total. Again if you need the services they offer there is hands down no better place in town! read more

Really great place to get vet care at an inexpensive price! Went to get my puppy spayed here. An appointment is needed, and drop off is at 8am, but a line was already forming outside way before that so If you have anywhere to be, I recommend being there very early to be one of the first in line! It took me about 40 minutes to get inside and fully drop off my pet. They explain all the prices and any recommended action so you leave knowing exactly what will be done and how much it'll be. They texted me before the expected 5pm to pick up at 4pm. At pick up, you pay at the front and drive to the back to get your pet and any needed meds/cone/directions. I'm fostering a small dog through Houston Pets Alive! and this is where the rescue has partnership with for preventive care. My foster girl Ginny was spayed on 7/3 and today (7/8) she also had her vaccine booster here. I'm so impressed with the care given to Ginny. Her incision was clean and neat and she had no complications recovering from the spay procedure. The vet techs and vet are compassionate. Even the sign-in tent workers are a pleasure! If you love your Pet DON'T bring them to this shit place! I am rating one star because I have to, I would put 0 if I could. I took my dog to get neutered here on Tuesday and he was severely bruised and his scrotum was swollen so I took him back in on Wednesday and the doctor prescribed more pain meds and a spray for anti itch. Now it's Saturday and his scrotum is even more swollen and has pus in the incision. I contacted the "Emergency" number that they have listed and there's no direct response, you have to leave your info and receive a call back. It wasn't until the 3rd time that I called that I received a "Text" back! Not even a call, A TEXT! And this woman was just the manager there, not a vet or technician. And i wait for about an hour until she talks to a vet and gets back to me. Just to tell me that I have to take my dog to an emergency vet because they don't open until Monday. I contact the emergency vet and they tell me that there is a 6hour wait time and the visit Just the VISIT will be $120! The only reason I drove an hour to Emancipet was because it was low cost! I don't have the money to go to a full service vet. Now if something happens to my baby before Monday I swear all hell will come down on Emancipet! I also want to add I took my dog to an Emergency vet that I trust dearly and was told that my dog should have been given antibiotics when he got neutered which emancipet says that he didn't need because he didn't have an infection according to them. Well $600 later at the emergency vet they told us his incision was extremely infected and my dog could have died because of this place. Please people pay the extra $50 and take your pet elsewhere. This place is ridiculous and I have yet to speak with someone that knows what they are doing. The manager from the Monroe location has no sympathy and no people skills whatsoever. Low cost vaccines come at a price: time, waiting, etc. There's a line before the clinic opens - wasn't too bad but the line snakes in once the doors open and you sign in and wait your time in line. I was 7th in line and it was about 2 hours of a wait. The shots are $15/ea and the office visit is only $5. Flea meds that I buy (Bravecto) were about $5 less for the 3 month pill. Overall I barely spent $100 and got everything I needed for my pet. I recommend if you aren't in a rush. Facility is clean and the vet is great. The receptionists seem a little over it and more on crowd control than anything. read more

Emancipet is great! I took my cat here last week to get spayed. Before she was returned to me, a tech went over her care instructions and answered my questions. The staff is wonderful, and everyone truly cares about pets. There was a sweet lady there who was very nervous about her small dog. I overheard the most caring conversation between her and the tech who assured her that everything would be ok and explained the emergency number she could call if anything scared her while the clinic was closed. I have lots of experience with clinics, and Emancipet is, by far, the clinic with the biggest heart!
