Chip back home snuggled with his sister pup after surgery.

I love Emancipet! The services are affordable and the staff is very knowledgeable in all the offerings, answered all my questions, and took great care of my Chip! They even sent me a text showing me how he was doing. Make your appts now because they are scheduled a few months out. Worth the wait! If you are in Travis County, microchipping is free!

We took in a neighborhood cat to get fixed. The folks at Emancipet help a lot of people everyday so they have a very efficient system. Spay & neuter appointment check in start at 8am and you line up at the bottom of stairs. At 10 they have 1st come, 1st serve for shots, buying flea meds, etc. This is a great place to get more affordable prices on these services. They text when the animal is ready and very thorough and helpful with checkout too!

Great customer service and very patient with us as well. Most costs are free or they offer a discount on other costs.

Emancipet has such a kind and caring staff! I needed to get my sweet kitty spayed and they took such great care of her. They were also able to microchip her. One of the techs took a picture of her while she was coming off the meds, and she was nice enough to send it to me! Yes, you probably have too book an appointment months in advance (I booked in January for an April appointment) but if you're not in a rush, they are an excellent and affordable choice.

Staff gave all the puppies free t-shirts after their visit

Connor, the vet tech, followed suit, and was really great. What really stood out is that we got in quickly and we were given a balanced approach to treatment. Dr. Rob walked me through his treatment rationale. We had a real discussion about the best course of treatment instead of the typical take-it-or-leave-it approach you get at most facilities. It's hard to find vets who collaborate with you as a member of the treatment team instead of copy-pasting a protocol and sending you on your way. The pricing was fair as well. I really appreciated the care and attention we got. Been to a lot of vets, this one stood out.

Unlike some of our experiences with other veterinarians in Austin, we never feel rushed. We truly appreciate the care and attention he gives to both us and our cat Reishi. Dr. Rob performed oral surgery to remove several of Reishi's teeth. It was the first major surgery we had experienced with her. He was extremely patient with our questions, took wonderful care of her, and guided us through the entire process. Reishi healed very quickly and had no postoperative complications, which we were especially grateful for after hearing about friends whose pets experienced infections and other issues following similar procedures elsewhere. Recently, Reishi had a cancer scare after an alarming initial assessment at an emergency vet. We were quite stressed. When we brought her to see Dr. Rob, he first acknowledged what we had been through and made us feel heard and cared for before discussing the next steps. He even emailed us with test results and next steps while he was on a family vacation, which showed us how deeply he cares about his patients. Fortunately, further testing showed that Reishi did not have cancer. Going through such a stressful experience felt much more manageable knowing that Reishi was under Dr. Rob's care. He is compassionate, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in both his patients and their families. Unfortunately, we are moving out of state and will have to find a new veterinarian. We truly hope we can find a clinic as wonderful as ATX Animal Clinic. It is the best veterinary clinic we have ever had, and we are incredibly grateful to Dr. Rob and the entire team.

My cat was recently diagnosed (at a different vet) with a somewhat rare parasite (Tritrichomonas),…read moreand I was having a hard time finding a vet I felt confident in. My usual vet, who we have been seeing since adopting the cat almost 2 years ago, rudely dismissed my concerns over the phone and insisted that I needed to pay an $80 office visit fee just to get an answer to my question over the phone (the question was "What does the PCR panel test for?"). I started calling every other vet in Austin to find a clinic that has experience with Tritrichomonas and that I felt comfortable with. Several clinics admitted that they did not know what the parasite was or had never treated it before. Another lied and said "oh, that is super easy to treat and really common and straightforward!" which I knew was not accurate from the empirical literature online. I finally found Austin Urban Vet and the experience we have had so far has genuinely been night and day different from pervious clinics. From the very first call, the AUV team was empathetic to our situation, VERY transparent about pricing (they provided it in writing), and explicitly clear about which PCR diagnostic panel they use at AUV and exactly what it tests for. They were open and honest about their experience with Tritrichomonas and I immediately felt at ease and confident in the care that they could provide my cat. After chatting with my partner about my findings from calling almost every vet in Austin, we both agreed Austin Urban Vet was the best one to move forward with, so we made an appointment. Right off the bat, I was happy to find that AUV has a private parking lot (for free!). I headed inside with my cat and the team at the front desk was so kind and helpful. They quickly checked me in and invited me to grab a bottle of water or make myself a cup of coffee as I waited for the tech to take us into the room. We waited for maybe ~5 minutes before the tech took us to the exam room, where she scanned my cat for her microchip, weighed her, and asked questions about the presenting problem, history, etc. Dr. Helen was who attended us for the exam itself, and she was so kind and thorough. I really felt that she was providing genuine feedback, and she was honest about her experience with this parasite. She was transparent about the treatment plan and let me know her general thoughts (Ie., "If she is still positive, we will do X. If she is negative, we can try Y.") We are now waiting for the PCR results, but so far, I am so happy with our experience and feel confident that Dr. Helen will provide us with the best care possible.

SOUTH PARK ANIMAL HOSPITAL is now owned by a VENTURE CAPITAL FIRM called National Veterinary Associates, which in turn is owned by JAB Holding company, JAB has tripled in size since it started buying up vets and charging confiscatory prices, taking advantage of our love of our pets. BUT they started burying me in pitch emails too, trying to feed fear about my cat's health, constantly trawling me for more money, more money, more money, all while pretending to care about my cat when they don't.
