Elysian Gardens was different than I expected. There is a bar area, but you are mostly outdoors. The night I went it was really cold outside, so we were all bundled up. The staff had put plastic up around the bar to block the wind, but we were still freezing. I will have to go back and visit during the spring or summer. It looked like they have a nice courtyard that would be perfect for warm days. There was a small stage for bands which was really nice and the drinks were good. I enjoyed the Poison Apple.

Nice chill spot. Good for date night. They do have covered patios if you don't like sitting out in the open. There is food onsite but I didn't get a chance to look at the menu. Parking can be a bit crazy in busy days/nights.

Stopped in to see MotorCity Josh and the big three perform. This was our first concert at Elysian Gardens. Was a great experience. The bar was open and the bartender kept up with drinks well. It was a bit cold, and having more than one fire pit going would have been great, but it wasn't freezing cold. Had a great time. Would come to a concert here again!

This place is beautiful! I stopped by one Sunday afternoon after seeing their drink specials on Instagram. I'd passed by several times while biking on a nearby trail, but was happy to finally stop and enjoy. The garden is filled with pretty plants and sculptures , which I was surprised to learn that the owner made himself. How neat! The place has a whimsical vibe and is very spacious, with two large patios on each side of the main garden area. There was plenty of seating and shade, which is ideal for hot Alabama summers. I tried the margarita and liked it, along with another cocktail that I can't remember the name of. The bartender who served us was friendly as well as the fellow customers. Everyone was just hanging out and chilling with loved ones. My only disappointment was that they didn't have a food truck or anything to eat available, however, they recently opened two new restaurants in the space so I'll have to make a second visit.

This is a nice hidden gem in the Avondale area. Had I not seen them on social media, I doubt I ever would have known this place was there. I really loved the funky garden sculptures and the fact that there were local food vendor right next door.

So excited to have this hidden gem in Birmingham!! Its a beautiful property with cool art and a great layout! The outdoor acoustic performances are a huge draw for me.... when it gets warmer! Space is kids friendly and staff/owners are the best.

Open sculpture & music garden concept. Bands on the big stage most nights plus two outstanding restaurants. One serves tangy BBQ & the other serves Birmingham's best chicken. A unique gathering place and experience with low priced beer & mixed drinks.

People often host their own little parties and events at the picnic tables here. I came on a Sunday afternoon, and it seemed like a lot of families came for lunch and to hang out after church. The food here is certainly impressive food for a bar to me. I love the wood fired pizzas. I will say, I think the size is a bit awkward. They're a little too big to be a single serving, and a little too small to be for two people. The beer is all good. Service at the bar always friendly. The fries here are some of my favorite in town. Shoestring.

They've got a huge selection of beers and a full dinner menu, so there's something for just about everyone. Whether you're coming for drinks or planning to eat, you won't feel limited. Parking is plentiful, which is always a win in Birmingham, and there's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. It works well for small groups or larger parties. One thing to know going in: this isn't really a full-service setup. You order and pick up your own food, and aside from someone occasionally clearing empty pint glasses, there's not much table service. We actually didn't receive utensils with our food and had to go back up to the counter to grab some. Not a huge deal, just something to be aware of. I ordered the catfish sandwich with fries. The sandwich itself was delicious -- crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. My only small gripe was that it came in a to-go box. I understand it probably makes cleanup easier for them, but it does take away a bit from the dine-in experience. The fries were shoestring style, which just aren't my personal favorite. They're fine, but I always feel like I need about three handfuls to feel satisfied. We went on a Saturday night and the brewery was packed -- and I mean packed. It was very loud and definitely more of a party atmosphere than a relaxing dinner vibe. If you're looking for a quiet night out, this probably isn't it. But if you want energy, beer, sports on TV, and a fun crowd, this place delivers. Overall, it's a great hangout spot to catch a game, grab a drink, and enjoy good food -- just expect a lively, high-energy scene.

Soup changes daily and this day was chickpea and chorizo. Nothing life changing about it but it wasn't bad. We walked into a small, dark, crowded dive bar and ordered amongst several other people after waiting in line shoulder to shoulder with other customers. I say this not to complain (because with a crowd like this on a random weekday, they're obviously doing something right) but to take your kids in car seats (‍) with caution. Crowds in small spaces stress me out and it would have been even worse if we'd had the boys with us. I'd also highly suggest going on a day when you can sit outside. There's very minimal seating inside. They do have a lovely, spacious patio that also feels like a garden with plenty of trees for shade. However, they make it clear they don't want dogs there. Parking was horrific. A narrow street with cars on each side. We barely fit through it. If there wouldn't have been an open spot on it, I'm not sure what the next option is because I didn't see anywhere else and this street only held so many. I would dine here again because the sandwiches were fresh and delicious and they obviously know what they're doing! I was pleasantly surprised that they had prosecco as well. Just heed my few warnings and you'll enjoy as well!

Then, you're only one flight of stairs away from the bar right below. Avondale makes great beers.
