I grew up in Youngstown so I had the delight of eating at Ely's To Go a LOT! I even started eating there when they were just a little side café in The Bread Chef, so it's wonderful to see them grow and spread healthy living to an area that so needs it. Probably the best vegan food I've ever had. The staff is very knowledgeable and has always made excellent suggestions. The Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich was the best I've ever had. I couldn't believe there wasn't actual pork in the sandwich. The only reason Ely's isn't getting 5 stars is the food is a bit on the pricey side for what it is, the seating is pretty limited and you may have to microwave your own food. Also, the hours suck. The restaurant is only open for lunch during the week. I'd love to be able to go there on a Saturday but can't. read more

Delicious vegan menu! Order ahead so you can grab the best sandwiches and dishes of the day. Friendly staff with great attitudes and advice. You can tell they really love what they do. Went here about a month ago on a road trip. So worth the detour. Had the Mac n cheese with Brussels sprouts, was INCREDIBLE!! I am vegan and my mother is not, but we equally enjoyed the food. My absolute favorite place to grab a quick lunch in the Youngstown area! Everything that I've had here has been wonderful. My favorite is the bahn mi. I always love their soups as well. I love this place and I have been frequenting it since they opened. The selection is fun, it changes every day. I love that they carry Harmless Harvest Coconut Water occasionally, it is hard to find in Mahoning or Trumbull counties. My menu favorite is the BLT with avocado every Thursday. Desserts are wonderful and nothing is better than supporting a great locally owned business. My husband is a huge fan of the quinoa salad and we both enjoy the green smoothies. Came up from Durham, NC to visit my family. Not a full on vegetarian since I still eat fish, eggs, and dairy but I have come to appreciate tofu and some of the fake meat options for vegetarians/vegans. My mom found out about this place from someone at work. Apparently, the spring rolls are developing quite a following. Wasn't sure what to expect since I grew up near Youngstown Ohio and haven't heard of a vegan restaurant in the area ever since I left in 1995. This place was great! Very, very small. Could call it cozy especially if you want to stay there to eat. Everyone was very friendly and more than happy to spend some time chatting with us about their menu. We had the spring rolls which were awesome. I think anyone reading a few reviews here would already know that, but they did live up to their reputation. Also had a surprisingly delicious "steak" sandwich! I think they used fresh bread from the place next door. It was so good, I bought a second one to go to take on our road trip back to NC. Didn't eat it until a couple of days later but it held up well and was a lot better than stopping to get another disappointing veggie sub from some fast food place! On word of caution, the menu rotates, so they don't have the "steak" sandwich every day. The other things we had were the roasted golden beet salad that was great, and a soup with cannellini beans and spinach that was a nice complement to the "steak" sandwich, and we also got a cookie to go that was scrumptious! And all of it was VEGAN! SO AWESOME! I wish we had a place as good as this in Durham. We have a few but I haven't had anything as good as this since I cut back on the meat in my diet. I hope they do well and I hope they're there the next time we come to visit! read more

From the minute you walk in you can tell that these people really care about their product and how they run their business. Not only is this some of the best, and freshest, food around but the staff is the nicest, most welcoming group of people you could ask for. It's also nice that they either recycle or compost everything. It's a good sign of integrity and reflects well on their operating standards. If that doesn't convince you just try the food. I don't like vegan food and tend to look down upon those who, without medical reasons, willingly lower themselves on the food chain. However, this food is special. I don't know how, short of sheer talent on the other side of the register, I am often dumbstruck with the quality and inspiration that this food brings. HOW the Thursday BLT tastes like a blt is beyond me. The only downside is the availability. No weekend hours. pity. read more

What a delight to happen on Ely's To Go during a road trip from Cleveland to Philly. The theme that afternoon was Thai, and so we purchased the banh mi sandwiches and summer rolls. We also had the chilled peach soup (so delicious I would have called for the recipe had my toddler not been asleep) and the roasted potato sides. Everything exceeded expectations - fresh, tasty, and healthy - not your typical road trip fare. 5 stars to this place just for the food, but the whole shop was clean as a whistle and the staff friendly and polite.
