The flavors are great and I love their tziki sauce. The only thing I don't like is they give you the smallest amount of the sauce then expect you to pay like 50 cents more for an extra which is small the same size. The fries reminded me of Chicago style fries, somewhat soggy/crispy, like the kind you find at the bottom of your hotdog order. The onion rings were the real star; light and crispy, hand made! This review is based on the food and speed of service based on my Doordash order. The food from Elsa's was DELICIOUS, so fresh tasting and still hot upon arrival. It took maybe 25 minutes to arrive at my door which is FAST for delivery. The fries were soft inside with a fresh crunch, gyros were FRESH fresh fresh, I appreciated being able to add my own sauce so it did not arrive soggy. The grape leaves were really good too. EXCELLENT deal, great prices, a new favorite in our book. Will be ordering again soon, we've already told friends about it too lol read more

This place is next to where I work and is very good to go to for lunch! They are a little on the slower side with giving you your food but remember that this is not Mc Donalds... it's a mom & pop place that makes your food fresh... do you want your chicken to be under cooked? i know i don"t! So with that said, it's a good idea to call about 10 minutes before you want your food so it's ready when you get there... this works really well for a person who only has 30 minutes for lunch (like me!) I always order their beef & chicken kebob which comes with rice, pita bread & a greek salad... you get your salad dressing and the tzatziki sauce to dip your meat in . Good stuff! with a medium soda, this meal comes out to around $12 I've also ordered their Gyro dinner which was so tasty that I couldn't stop eating until it was gone... Was looking for a place to eat lunch, and saw "Elsas Kitchen" in the little strip mall while I was driving, and decided to give it a shot. Unfortunately I wish I hadn't seen it, because I was not happy with lunch here. I order the chicken pita sandwich. The chicken didn't exactly taste fresh, and tasted like something you would get a a typical fast food place rather than a "Kitchen". The interior of the place is also pretty depressing. But hey, I can ignore the interior of a restaurant if the food is good, but this was not the case here. 2 Stars may be a very generous rating considering I would never come back here again. read more

We frequent here often because my kids love the chicken strips & grilled cheese sandwiches. When they earn a reward for doing something they pick Elsa's & my daughter thinks that it's straight out of Frozen. The menu is pretty large with Greek & American staples. This place is legit. Awesome food, large portions, everything is made fresh, and fast service. Also, the prices are great. I love a good Greek salad, and their salad is huge, and Super Fresh. The lettuce this is crisp , the Cucumbers, Tomatoes, olives, onions and the pepperoncinis are fresh and crisp, and the feta cheese is abundant and delicious. Anything you order here will be amazing from Burgers to gyros to Greek salad to grilled chicken. Do not let the small and outdated look of this restaurant intimidate you. Everything is awesome here! I have had all of the Greek food, the fish and chips and the BLT's from Elsa's. Everything has been top notch every time! After having the fish and chips tonight I absolutely had to write a review and share with everyone just how great this place really is! It seems like a little hole in the wall place, that's almost a secret. I've lived in La Mesa my whole life (and I'm pretty old!) and I just discovered it 6 months ago. Ok so I'm giving a bad review based on overall food. I thought the Gyro was pretty good a ton of meat and very flavorful. The taziki sauce is just average, the hummus was the worst I've tasted. My co workers have been telling me about Elsa's kitchen which is close by to work. I decided to order lunch today and I wish I have had tried them sooner! It is the best greek food I have had in quite some time. I ordered the Gyro and spanakopita combo. The combo comes with gyro meat, spanakopita, rice, pita bread and greek salad. The portions are generous and the food was amazing. My favorite is the spanakopita! I got to work after picking it up and the phyllo pastry was still crispy. This was our first time there a couple days ago and I thought the food was quite good. It's a great little hole in the wall takeout place. I really wanted a Greek salad and my husband was looking forward to some Greek chicken. For these two dishes the selection was quite good. My husband said that the chicken was tender and juicy and well flavored. The salad was generous and when I asked for extra dressing it was no problem at all. Elsa's is my all time favorite place to eat! The Greek chicken salad is my normal go to but the beef Kabobs are a close second favorite! And if you're a picky butt about salad dressings like I am you have to try the dressing that comes with the salad, you can't beat a home made dressing! Food is very good (4 stars worthy) but I'll bump it up to 5 for price/value. I'm a self-proclaimed gyro expert, not really, but I eat a lot of gyro at a lot of places. Elsa's make a ginormous gyro with good seasoning and soft fluffy pita (very important). The only thing I can add is I wish their tzatiki sauce was a bit more tart for that extra oomph. My bf loved his cheezesteak, very "bomb". The chicken kabob was the juiciest chicken kabob I've ever had, do they inject it with magic?. Lastly, I'd advise steering clear of fried zucchini because you really don't need the extra calories and their batter is a bit oily and does not stay on the zucchini at all. The Greek Chicken Salad is the best thing going in the 70th & El Cajon area. I lived there for many years and now live 15 minutes away. I still frequently go there to get it about twice a week. The owner is an awesome guy and always friendly. I would assume it is his Daughter and Son who work there as well and they are always extremely friendly. I'll be a life long customer of this business. I love supporting family owned businesses and especially love amazing food. Ordering the chicken plate is also a wise move. Comes with rice and salad.
