We wanted a Christian education in addition to a good academic program and Elmhurst Learning Center has given our daughter both.

My daughter came home on the bus and forgot her "Jacket" at the playground on 03/25/26 This is…read morewhen the school has a half day they get out at 12:30 pm I drove her back and spoke to someone in the office and the principal about getting the jacket. It would take less than 2 mins to get. They both had a nasty attitude telling me she can't go get it because they dont want anyone disturbing YEP. She already had 1 Jacket stolen. We didn't want another one stolen. A few months ago my daughter forgot her homework/project papers in class and the office had absolutely no problems walking to the classroom opening the door (teacher was gone for the day) letting her get her homework during YEP. So if that wasn't a problem then why would it be a problem now? She left the Jacket on the playground area not in the classroom. The young girl who works the front desk and the principal had a nasty attitude about her getting her Jacket. I told the principal if she can't get her jacket then im calling HUSD. He said "I dont care go right ahead" and he closed the door in my face. Anyone working there could have went to the play area and got her Jacket.. I could understand if the school was closed and nobody was there but the office doesn't close until 4:30 pm. I came there at 1:30 pm. This is what you call the height of laziness. On 9/7/26. I came to the school to pick my daughter up because she had a doctor's appointment. Instead of the office calling her teacher and have me sign her out , one of the faculty members in the office ( I won't say their name) started talking about the Jacket. I was like wtf that was 2 weeks ago, I just want my child so we wint be late for the appointment. This faculty memeber said "Im very disappointed with you because you complained to HUSD after we told you, we had a meeting and couldnt get the Jacket' Im telling myself "I didnt come here to argue/talk about the jacket" So I said, "This all could have been avoided if you just let my child walk 2 mins to the playground and back" I was then told "If you dont like it here you can take your child and go to another school" I saw that comment as very unprofessional. II am standing there telling myself "Why didn't you just call the teacher already so I can take my child to the doctor" Nope this person just kept rambling on and on about the Jacket. If that wasnt bad enough this person said "So and So is in the _____ Grade and their age is ____ and should be more responsible of taking home thsir personal belongings . This was first time my child forgot a jacket. I talked it over with my wife, I honestly believe HUSD or whoever is in charge needs to flex their muscles and start terminating those who can not communicate at a professional level with the parents of a child. Warnings don't do anything and we all know it because that is like a slap on the wrist. I notice some faculty members (won't say names) Don't say hello, hi or anything when you say hello to them or even wave. They have a personality of a rock and they are emotionally detached, unexpressive, and generally boring to interact with. I try my best to avoid those people when I go to the school even when there is a school event. I am going to file a complaint because I want to see the school staff be more professional while working and talking to the public, especially the parents/legal guardians of all students. An old saying "You Reap What You Sow" What does that mean? Well it means your current actions, behaviors, and decisions (sowing seeds) will inevitably lead to direct consequences in the future, whether good or bad. When push comes to shove, I am not going to cower down like other parents.. If you can't be professional at the job you are paid to do then retire or find a new line of work.

There was nothing wrong with public school, but we wanted more for our children as they grew into young adults. We first learned about All Saints when my husband coached their boy's basketball team. Both of us were from Christian and Catholic backgrounds and we found the moral and spiritual guidance intertwined with their sports program complementary to our parenting style. We decided to transfer our children from public to private schools simply due to the opportunities, rigor, and environment that private schools afford. Each family views and values education differently, and in our case- my father instilled in me that "education is something that no one can take away from you." Therefore, we value a holistic and realistic education that provides many opportunities. How children perform and function in school is the sum of familial values and school environment. All Saints Catholic School complemented our familial values based on the following: 1. Spiritual, religious, and moral compass: Opportunities to develop faith formation simultaneously with the curriculum. Opportunities for us as a family to discuss current world events in a particular context and offer positive coping skills. 2. Academic rigor: Low classroom counts, better teacher-to-parent relationships, opportunities for science camps and science fairs. 3. School/parent environment/ sports: The administration is dedicated to the learning and safety of the children. When public schools were still distance learning, this institution had protocols for early in-classroom teaching (a lifesaver for me as I was on the frontlines in the ICU). Social events that are both wholesome, fun, and spiritual- Fiesta, Crab Feed, Fun Run, school dances, etc. They have a well-established CYO program with dedicated and league/diocese-winning coaches. 4. Kids Klub: after-school caregiving for those who require extended care. 5. Robust choir/ music program with a dedicated choir/ music director. 6. Safety of the campus My child is nearing graduating from All Saints and will soon transition to high school. My eldest was offered a generous scholarship at a prestigious private high school in Oakland but instead chose to attend a distinguished private high school in Hayward. Both were blessings and opportunities that I believe would not have been available to us if we had not chosen All Saints Catholic School. Many of our fondest memories originate with activities and events sponsored by All Saints and the Oakland Diocese. I highly recommend All Saints Catholic School- and if you'd like to know more-- find out yourself!

As a former Parent Ambassador 2020-2021 (parent volunteer) at Burbank Elementary School I strongly urge you to ask the school questions like: - Ask why are both playgrounds fenced off when, the vehicle accident only damaged the kindergarten playground? It's not because of COVID. - Ask when they will they fix the kindergarten playground? - Ask why do they make the children duck down in place immediately after they blow a whistle before the children line up for class similar, to what prison guards do on prison yards? - Ask why they don't utilize the raised garden beds to teach the children how to grow plants? - Ask why they don't offer Spanish IXL when it's a dual language immersion school along with the core curriculum subjects offered on IXL? - Ask them what happened to the black assistant principle and the on-site parent liaison? - Ask why the teacher demographics don't reflect the student demographics equitably? -Ask them why the PTA doesn't reflect the demographics of the school? - Ask what have they done to implement the districts ABAR policies and SEL framework? -Ask them what they did with the Emergency COVID funds the state provided districts that reopened schools during COVID? -Ask them how the black & brown children are performing in the school compared to state standards? It sucks that I had to take my child out of the school that's in my neighborhood and drive across town to get my son a decent education.
