Grilled Shrimp with sides of Sweet Potato Fries and Steamed Broccoli Hubby thought shrimp were too done but tasty
    Deb O.

We enjoyed happy hour cocktails in a booth in the bar. Our bartender, Natasha, was super friendly and patient even though her bar was completely full. I ordered the Parmesan Cod with broccoli and zucchini and I added the salad bar for $5.99. Hubby ordered grilled shrimp with broccoli and sweet potato fries. Definitely will return! Very clean restaurant with awesome bathrooms!

Thumbs up - broccoli slaw at salad bar is delicious. Great for parents where children eat free on Sundays!

The two owners used to sell their pasta out of Tornatores restaurant but now they have their own shop. While I was there the owner was making gnocchi. They offer so many types of fresh pasta starting at 5.95 and I wanted to buy one of every variety. They offer about 6 or 7 kinds of ravioli. They have containers of made in house marinara (7.95) and meat sauce so you can purchase everything you need to cook up a pot of pasta. For dessert they have tiramisu, pistachio and ricotta or Torta Della Nonna by Bindi. The frozen pizza has unique toppings. I bought the zucchini and at home the pizza baked up to perfection. The pizza was thin and the crust came out crunchy. I loved it. I also bought a tray of lasagna that was frozen. You let it defrost a little and then bake it in the oven. So easy to make and so good. The store offers items in frozen and refrigerated cases and shelves of a few Italian cooking staples. The couple that owns this store are so friendly, happy to explain anything and excited to have their own store. I like that you can buy authentic restaurant quality food at Supermarket prices. Great Spot for a Casual Seafood Lunch!…read more I went here for a late birthday lunch with my partner because we were hungry for seafood Our waitress was super friendly, and the service was excellent from start to finish. We were seated in a cozy booth, and I immediately noticed the fun decor--tons of license plates from different states, some with funny names or messages. It added a quirky, welcoming vibe that we really enjoyed. The atmosphere was good, but not too loud. I started with the clam chowder, and my partner had the lobster bisque--both were absolutely delicious. My chowder had a generous amount of fresh clams and was rich and flavorful, but it wasn't heavy fo my stomach. For my main dish, I had the blackened white fish with coleslaw and fried sweet potato. The lemon was the perfect touch on the fish, the coleslaw was super fresh, and the sweet potato fries were crispy and satisfying. Overall, we had a great time. I'd definitely recommend this place.

The service is top notch and if anyone notices that you need a refill they take care of you, even though they aren't your server. It feels like a family member is running the place and taking care to ensure a good meal and welcoming atmosphere. Boston's isn't a big restaurant so peak dining hours will probably mean a wait, but it's definitely worth it. Their New England Clam Chowder is silky smooth in the most luxurious way, filled with fresh meat and undoubtedly made from the finest ingredients. Several restaurants in NSB serve a good clam chowder but Boston's is my favorite. If you want to treat yourself get the bowl size serving but the cup size is a great starter choice. We visited twice during our one week stay. The first time I got fish and chips and the second time I got the 12 piece jumbo shrimp dinner with fries. Both times I chose the baked beans for a side. You can't go wrong with any choice but those beans are great. There's no way I can eat 12 shrimp so I always have the treat of a snack the next day. My husband got the blackened mahi mahi and said it was fantastic. The second time he also chose the 12 piece shrimp dinner but with coleslaw and onion rings! Take a look at the picture, the rings were terrific. I definitely prefer the thinner rings over the large ones that some places serve. Boston's is a must for visitors to NSB. The menu states that it's the best seafood in New Smyrna Beach and they certainly get my hearty recommendation.

One person was sitting at an outdoor table, there was a table of six and a table of 2 seated ahead of us. The last page of the menu states food is prepared "a la minute," so prepare yourself for a 15-40 minute wait for your food. If this is the case, we'd like to recommend the owners put out some bread and butter for the patrons to munch on as they prepare for the long wait. We watched as the table of 6 food came out rather haphazardly and certainly not all at once. We happened to have a coupon for a free appetizer, so we ordered the Crab Dip and a side salad to start along with our main entrees of "Fall Off The Bone" Ribs and Octopus Rissoto as soon as the server came by to take our order. So, 4 tables for her and she was by herself and the owner was in the kitchen cooking the food. The server bumped this review up an extra star. After sitting, waiting for quite some time, we had to ask the server if she could at least bring out the salad, and she said it was coming next. We'll, the Iceberg salad, came out along with the lukewarm Crab Dip and chips that could have been fresher. So, we ate those, and the main entrees were ready to come out as we finished the dip. The server brought out the fries and coleslaw and then we waited for the entrees to follow. The Octopus, surprisingly, was the best item. The rissoto was too dry for us. The ribs were the worst we've ever had dining out. Even with the sharp knife provided it was tough to cut the ribs apart from each other and the backside was burnt. Again, we were told the owner was cooking. These ribs should never have come out of the kitchen. We ate 2 of the 4 ribs and asked the server to take the other 2 back and present them to the chef along with our remark of them being the worst we've ever had when dining out. The server took the ribs back and removed $5 off the $17.99 ribs. As we left there was one table left finishing up their meal. The owner had every opportunity to come out and address the ribs and our dining experience but apparently chose not to do so. Anyway, we dine out at least twice a week and prefer to give the smaller mom and pop establishments are hard earned money. So, I implore the owner to go back and read MM's review from 2 weeks ago and realize nothing seems to have changed in our eyes. We won't be returning either as he/she had every opportunity to receive feedback in person while we were at the establishment. By the way, the server didn't know we were getting a complementary appetizer when she gave us the $5 off the ribs and we have no idea how she came up with that figure. Service was very good from her with what she had to deal with in the kitchen.

HOLY COW. Spanish River Grill!…read more This NSB gem is truly amazing. I had multiple friends recommend for dinner and everyone agreed it's one of their favorites in town. Well, they were 100% right and I was blown away. Our table of 5 ordered some serious goodies - I just wish we could have eaten more so we could have tried everything on the menu. The bacon wrapped dates were some of the best I've ever had. The whipped cheese with honey was insanely good. The chicken entree was wild -- so tender and flavorful and the potatoes were to die for. We ordered dessert and it was so good and went so fast that we actually ordered a second cake. The food came out super fast and our server was awesome. The restaurant is very low key but nice, nothing stuffy or too casual. I honestly was so surprised but so happy with the experience. Come one, come all, and enjoy your feast!

Honest and fair feedback for the management and chef of the Spanish River Grill…read more I typically leave no review and just move on when I have a disappointing experience. I want restaurants to be successful and am cautious about my criticism, but the person managing the front of the house chose to be condescending rather than understanding when I sent an unacceptable dish back. The positives: We were having a great experience prior to our large plate. Had the mussels which were great, tasty crab cakes, and perfectly prepared calamari. The olive oil cake that we were sent home with (comped) was as good as everyone says. The service was also good until the problem and the Sangria was delish. The Negatives: I was so excited to have the Paella since it's been years since I've had a great one. I've had Paella at 7 or 8 restaurants in the past as well as home prepared so I am not new to the experience. What I dished onto my plate had a little bit of everything. Everything was good not great but the chicken thigh meat was like rubber and the shrimp was overcooked by quite a lot. I don't expect perfection with shrimp. When our server checked on us, I informed them of the poor quality and they quickly said to stop eating and another dish can be brought out. I can only speculate that they have had problems with complaints after a dish has already been eating but that's not us. I never ask for anything to be comped if I am unhappy. My wife didn't want to send it back because it would mean a long wait for another but I didn't want it. Our server told us we need to decide fast and left us to discuss. We did not eat any more and after about 10 minutes the food was taken from the table. They did offer again to make something else. We were very disappointed since it's a 45 minute drive for us but these things happen sometime. Can't win them all. We could have just ended things there and I was prepared to pay the 60 dollars for the Paella (was removed) and move on but the manager came out and lectured me about this being the first complaint about the Paella in 3 years and that she tasted it all and that it was fine. Of the thousands of restaurants I've been to in my life, this was a first. Nobody likes it when they are implicated as a liar. What was a disappointing experience turned into an upsetting one. I hope she was just having a bad day because treating customers that way is not a recipe for success. I like to give businesses a second chance because everyone makes mistakes, and we had planned to meet some friends that live closer to NSB, but I can't imagine that I will now because of that. Perhaps they wouldn't want me back since I am the only person to ever complain about the Paella. Did I insult the chef by doing that?
