A wonderful Sarasota gem, this cultural center, coastal preserve, and retreat is only occasionally open to the public, but well with a visit if you get an opportunity to see it! Elling Eide grew up on the property, attended Harvard, and became a scholar of Chinese history.
The Elling Eide Center showcases his family's property that is a wonderful preserve on Little Sarasota Bay that includes fruit trees and some exotic plants as well as various natural Florida ecosystems.
The modern main building is pretty stunning and includes a library and meet space. Open covered space is beneath it and a pond with a boardwalk pier is nearby. A wonderful and magical place with fascinating history and immersive nature among Florida's birds, turtles, lizards, wildflowers, birds, and breezes.
