I had a farewell party today and the food was amazing, the facilities were clean and the staff very accommodating.

The building itself has no water, so I'm not sure about restroom or if they exist. The first floor has all this cute locally made stuff, and donuts and pies. Yum. The second floor has a bar right at the top of the stairs (I suspect when they're busy a line may form there) and there are roughly three rooms with different types of tables and chairs to sit in. It IS worth getting a drink with a donut. Just grab napkins for sugar spills. My drink had the face of a Halloween pumpkin, and even though I'm not a drinker, was sweet without being toothaching and fun to drink.

Some from as far as Australia and different parts of Asia. They have a shop here with merch and different locally made items along with 3 places to buy drinks/donuts. Their most popular are their alcoholic ciders! The cider is tart and sweet, but not overly of either. Their don't is more cakey if you're into that! They also have mini golf for $12 which is a pretty good deal! There is a bunch of indoor and outdoor seating. And food trucks for lunch/dinner! Definitely a good spot for family and friends.

(Well, mostly it's because I'm married to such a wonderful woman, but still.) The grounds are gorgeous, and the massive bay window in the Torrington room provided a beautiful view and plenty of sunlight. The room itself looked fantastic. The food is phenomenal. I'm not a huge pasta fan, nor am I a vegetarian, but the vegetarian ravioli we were served was beyond good. This is to say nothing about the sea bass. If you love your guests, go for the sea bass. The staff were all friendly and service went off without a hitch. They were even able to work around a couple of odd requests we had. Wedding pie instead of cake., for one, which required a some extra display work for all the pies our guests brought. They also had wifi, which was nice because my wife's uncle (my uncle in law? Is there such a thing?) wanted to set up a video uplink to a few guests that were out of the country. So, I'm not likely to ever get married again, but the proprietor assured me that they also do anniversaries and christenings. I'd love an excuse to come back here. We shopped around before we decided on here, and there just isn't anyone else in the Torrington area that gives you even close to the same BANG you get for the buck here.

So, when I needed to book a place for a meeting in central Litchfield County, this was the first place I thought of. As it turns out, the only things that changed here were the owner and the name. I had a small function, about thirty-five people. This was not a problem for them. The night of the event, the lights were on and the staff was ready when I arrived thirty minutes before my event started. I was greeted by Audrey, who was running the room that evening, and whom I knew from my previous visits. She, and Lucille, our bartender, went out of their way to make everyone attending the meeting welcome. All the tables were set, the podium was in place, and the microphone worked - no last minute scrambling to put the finishing touches in place, like at some other venues. When we opened our meeting, the staff was quiet, even while they brought the food out to the buffet. And, the food was excellent - more than enough, and hot, which was a change from some of the other banquet facilities I've reviewed in the past. Empty plates were cleared quickly and quietly, dessert was served in the same manner, and there was lots of coffee. When the meeting ended, settling up was quick and easy. Feedback from attendees was that this was one of the better dinner meetings they had attended in terms of food and service. Shout outs to Gia, who worked the kitchen, and Jim, who made sure that the walks and parking lot were sanded as it was a chilly night and it was getting slippery. Congratulations to Paul, the new owner, who took a fine venue and turned it into a great one. I would book another event here without reservation, and I look forward to attending my next meeting here in March.

That caught my attention. I'm a great lover of historic buildings. This one has enjoyed several different lives, but the newest iteration opened in 2024. The owners have paid close attention to many details that show they value the history of the building - from the furniture in the multiple small dining rooms to the reproduction wallpaper on the walls. I loved the use of large candles in the fireplaces to replicate the light of a fire. Our meals were from the Prix Fixe Menu for $50 per person. I was delighted to see later that Lost Fox Inn advertises a Prix Fixe Menu on Thursdays for $60 per person. I enjoyed the Corn Chowder soup appetizer, which was different from any chowder I've ever eaten but very flavorful. My main course was Orecchiette, a delightful maitake and shiitake mushroom pasta dish that is flavored with lemon, pecorino Romano, rosemary, oregano and topped with breadcrumbs. Dessert was a chocolate mousse topped with pickled blackberry and mint. Really delicious. We booked an early dinner and were delighted to find that we were the only ones seated in our small dining room. As the hour progressed, more and more people filled the room, and interestingly each group took advantage of the restaurant week menu (many of the items are on the regular dinner menu). The wait staff was very attentive, checking in and answering questions about the menu items. I look forward to a return visit because the food was really outstanding.
