I came to her after doing a short stint in CrossFit, where I was struggling with hip pain and unable to keep up with the high volume of squats. My goal was to focus on strength training and building muscle. From day one, Andrea really listened and tailored our sessions to focus on building strength and muscle without aggravating my hip. Andrea is incredibly attentive to form, always making sure I'm moving safely and effectively which is a huge priority for me. I continue to progress in building up my strength and I feel stronger and more confident in my body than I have in years--I've lost body fat, gained muscle, and feel like I'm truly training with intention now. Andrea helped me with nutritional guidance, including dialing in my macros to make sure I'm fueling properly to support muscle growth. She also gives me home workouts so I can stay consistent and keep progressing even on days we're not training together. Andrea balances listening to what I want while also pushing me just the right amount. She is knowledgeable, encouraging, and genuinely invested in her clients' success. I'm so glad I found her!

We started off aligning on goals for BMI, strength, physique, nutrition (which I reached ahead of my wedding date thanks to Andrea!). Each training session was custom according to my and my husband's needs and mobility (per the FMS method). As we progressed Andrea tweaked the sessions accordingly, which kept workouts interesting and at the right level of difficulty. Andrea taught us tons about long-term health, nutrition and fitness that I am using in my day-to-day. Turning these habits into a new lifestyle has been the best takeaway from this experience. It was always a dream of mine to work with a personal trainer. And now I can confidently say that the sessions and results with Andrea are just as good as I imagined.

Funny thing, I actually pay for a ClassPass membership so I can studio-hop and try new things. This facility is one I discovered through CP. I debated this review, as I am not yet a member; however, I do come weekly and try different classes. While here, I observed their personal trainers working with people, and I knew instantly that I want to train here as soon as my year is up at Crunch. They really focus on form and movement here! I am aware I don't overhead squat properly, and I'm confident they can show me the proper progressions I need to do them right. My goals also include pistol squats, rehabbing my shoulder, improving my balance/stability and core, and not re-injuring. I don't know prices yet, and I will update this review when I learn more info. Total Metabolic Strength left me sweaty and tired! It was a great class... a mix of strength, agility, core, and balance. The Functional Strength Class, was eh... moderate for me. That particular day had more elderly people, and many of the exercises were not a set number of reps, but "as many as you can do". I got frustrated when they were done with Round 3 (they started putting equipment away) and I was still working Round 2. The coach had me finish my sets though, leaving them standing around talking. If I take this format again, I will bring my weighted vest with me. This center has a lot going on- there's also physical therapy and cyrotherapy. I look forward to utilizing both. I sometimes still need someone to pop my shoulder back in place haha, and cyrotherapy is great for pain management and exercise recovery. Aside from seeing individuals working out in proper form, the biggest draw for me was the vibe. As soon as I walked in, I felt welcome. They asked me my goals, and were as enthusiastic as I am about my fitness journey. The manager just so happens to exercise at my main gym, and watched me working with my trainer the day after I was here. She solidified a place in my heart because she was very supportive. She approached me to chat, and never once talked smack on my trainer... she actually praised him. That meant the world to me! I wish every gym was like this- a family who supports one another. Overall, I really love this facility and I look forward to continuing my journey here!

I enjoyed that the class size is small so that the instructor can really focus on providing everyone with a high level of coaching. The amount of support that I receive from coaches and fellow athletes alike is something I wouldn't have believed existed, or known that I needed, until I experienced it firsthand. Instead of standing in line for equipment, we share and make sure everyone is taken care of. Instead of awkward silence in common areas, there is laughter and camaraderie. Instead of putting in my hour of exercise and clocking out for the day, there is constant motivation and support to better my health through nutrition challenges & resources. Everyone is cheered and celebrated equally - from the chubby girl in her first class doing the most scaled versions imaginable (that was me!) to the mutant superstar doing 48" box jumps and handstand push-ups like they're nothing (still not me, but maybe someday?). People in all walks of life and in all stages of fitness are welcomed into the fold. This community support is the foundation on which all of my accomplishments and improvements have been built. I can't say enough great things about the owners and coaches. This special place is clearly a product of their passion for helping people be their best selves. The class sizes are never too large for the coach to give everyone personal attention and instruction on the technical movements. Even with someone as uncoordinated as myself who needs things explained to them every time like it's my first time, they're patient and generous with their attention and help. With their help, I've done so many things I'd never imagined myself doing (HSPU and rope climbs? Ahhh!). In FLxR's walls, I have celebrated many many firsts and PRs. I feel stronger and more confident in my body's abilities than I've ever felt in my life. I've gone from dreading WOD every day to wanting, or rather NEEDING it (it's better than therapy). I'm no longer obese, no longer pre-diabetic, am completely anti-depressant free and thriving... I can't wait to see where I am in another year! I highly recommend FLxR to anyone looking to become a better, healthier version of you. Whether you're just starting down that road and looking for a judgment-free zone to start in, or you're already bad-ass and looking to improve your next open scores to the top 1%... or anywhere in between, I think there is no better place to do it. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~~~~~~~~~ My original Review, from 2017: I drank the kool aid. I joined the cult. I fell in love with cross fit. Today is the last day of my one-month groupon and I am signing on to be a regular member. The first week was scary and intimidating. I came in overweight, NOT in shape, and terrified of all the scary looking equipment and giant weights. But the awesome coaches and friendly classmates helped me through it. No one ever made me feel silly for having to use the training bar with no weights on it while the gal next to me is lifting a bar bigger than she is. And i didn't receive an ounce less of encouragement. Every workout i survived felt like an accomplishment, boosting my self-esteem and desire to come back. The second week was hard and reluctant. I was tired and sore. There were days I took the 'just get yourself here' very literally and told myself I'd just show up and half-ass it - but of course the motivation in the air is so infectious, it's impossible to not give it your all once you're there. By the third week, it had become a staple in my day. There are days when I'm excited and can't wait for the class, and there are other days I come in tired/stressed/sore/depressed/hungover dragging myself in and whining through the warmup, but every time I leave at the end of the class i feel like a rockstar and have no pain, am full of energy, and with a big smile on my face. And the times when a trainer notices my progress and comments on it, it sends my mood soaring even higher. In the month I've been coming (5 days a week), I've lost 13lbs and one pants size. my body feels firmer. i can see muscle definition peeking out from under the receding fat. but forget all of that (yeah that's the reason i initially signed up, but now it's only a happy side effect) now i'm more excited that I'm finally off the training bar and onto the big girl bar and adding weights to it. That i'm able to finish the workouts. That i'm already down-scaling considerably less than I was a month ago. These accomplishments make me feel better about myself. I feel stronger and more powerful... I feel confident and motivated. I feel happier and healthier. I feel good. All of these factors together have contributed to me making more progress than I'd imagined was possible in only one month.
