DeLand Nissan - Check engine light still on After putting in the new exhaust manifold

DeLand Nissan

I originally left this dealership a 5-star review after buying my brand-new Frontier Pro-4X. My…read moresales rep Justin was great. I'm changing that review to 1 star because what happened after the sale was a completely different story. The review pattern makes sense to me now. Most of the 5-star reviews are about sales. A lot of the 1-star reviews are about service. I did not understand how real that split was until I needed serious warranty work. According to Nissan Consumer Affairs' own records, my truck spent 33 days out of service at this dealership alone (not including the additional time it later spent at another Nissan dealer). They did attempt repairs, but once they could not solve the major warranty issues, management put a path forward in writing through Nissan Consumer Affairs and then later reneged on that written agreement without notice. I escalated through management, BBB, and Nissan Consumer Affairs, so there is no misunderstanding and no lack of communication. Everything is documented. When I pursued the BBB route, the dealership responded by changing the story, denying what had already been documented, and publicly presenting a version of events that was flatly inconsistent with the written record. What made the reality impossible to ignore was this: another Nissan dealership (the one Nissan Consumer Affairs sent me to after DeLand Nissan declined to continue) later verified the same issues and began major repairs under Nissan oversight. That should tell you exactly where the problem was. If you buy here and plan to service the vehicle somewhere else, you may be fine. If this is the shop you expect to stand behind the vehicle after the sale when serious warranty issues come up, buyer beware. If you want the paper trail, search "BBB DeLand Nissan" and click "Complaints."

I had $850 worth of service done on a Saturday then literally on Thursday (less than a week) my car stalled at a stop light and would not move. Also, I brought the car in at 7:30am and it is currently 1:50pm and my car still isn't ready and no updates. Horrible! Avoid this location if you can. 0 stars, I do not recommend at alll.

They couldn't pin down the issue, I was having trouble with the service dept. as they were more and more reluctant to help me the more I brought the truck back. This went on for almost 10 months, the last time my battery just died , I could not get a hold of anyone but Kyle, he had alot of fun that day at my expense! After that experience, I went on the offensive. I was fixing to meet with an attorney, and start a very load, public smear campaign against this dealership, when Stan Collins called me to check on me as a customer . He asked if I was happy with my purchase and I said NO! I told him what I had been dealing with from the service department , and within 3 hours he called me back and got me into a new truck ! I did not ask for it this was offered by the dealership, they did not know about the attorney, or the campaign. I was very impressed by this gesture, I took the new truck. I am very thankful and appreciative for the effort that Stan and the sales department put toward this situation! I think there is a communication break down between the service department and the people who work hard to get customers into the building. Your service department could learn a lot from Stan, he saved the day on this one! I'm giving the dealership 4 stars because the service department needs a lot of work, if the review was just for Stan, I would give him 8 stars. You guys better keep this guy around. Thanks Scott Moss P.S. I'd fire Kyle and Heather!

To best describe my experience with Parks Toyota of DeLand, I need to tell you a story. About a…read moreyear and a half ago, my Ford lease was up and it was time to move forward on a new vehicle. My wife and I, living in Seminole county, went to a dealership nearer to our house and leased a 2017 RAV4 XLE. Our experience at that time was great and we received a great vehicle as a result. I haven't had a driver's license in nearly 8 years, and last week, I rectified that issue. It wasn't due to a criminal charge or anything like that; merely the inability to share a vehicle led to my blase outlook on possessing the card. Then, with the card in my possession and only one car at home, it only took 24 hours to realize that we could not survive, logistically, with one set of wheels at home. We went to the same dealership that we got the RAV4 from, which I won't name out of respect for Parks, and the experience I had was subpar. Don't worry, I'll write that one next. To shorten the bad aspect, they showed little to no customer service or loyalty to my return business, making me think I had chosen the wrong dealership in the first place. So I reached out to Parks and spoke with Tom Scheffer and explained the whole ordeal with the first dealership. He explained and he and his colleague, Candice, would be happy to work with us and rectify the issues I had at the other location. We arrived at 3PM on Sunday, spoke on the vehicle that I wanted, in the right color and trim level and it appeared on the side of the building, detailed with a full tank, ready to go. We went over our deal with Candice, and then moved over to Scott Levitt's office to finalize our paperwork. After another 30 minutes with Scott, and his two-color highlighter finesse, we had signed on every dotted line, set up insurance, and we were ready to caravan back to Seminole county. I went out of my element on Sunday. I was an hour North of home, at a dealership I had never been to before and I was completely, totally, impressed. The showroom was clean and uncluttered. It made me feel at home. I was not pressured. I was waited on. And felt appreciated by my being there. Parks Toyota of DeLand really pulled out all of the stops. When my wife's lease is up in 2020, I know exactly where I am going, whether it is further away or not. It is 100% worth the drive. Again, Candice Hartley, Tom Scheffer, and Scott Levitt, THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!!!!!! I could not be more satisfied. We will most definitely return. 10/10!

A salesman sat with me for about 15 minutes and said he's gonna do this e-registration which turns out to be $599 for my opinion almost nothing at all so in essence in addition to the $400 profit they said they were making there's another $1600 here in fees and I questioned them about it today and they're not going back on any of those fees so just beware when you make purchases like this to read every single line question every single line and that's all I have to say at this point

That was on top of parts, labour and taxes I asked about the fee and was told it's an environmental fee. The government sets environmental fees not Coggin and the fee definitely isn't 10% So then I read the disclaimer on the printout that said they charge a 10% shop supply fee( not environmental) to the customer. I asked why was I being charged for shop supplies? Shouldn't that be apart of the cost of parts and labour? The service advisor was obviously getting upset with me and mentioned that it was only $3.15. I said perfect then you can pay for it. The customer should not have to pay a shop supply fee on top of parts and labour. Any brake job is costing unsuspecting customers $40-$50 more for their service. If you want to get my business, you better be straight up with me and not try and jack me around adding these nonsense extra packages that nobody wants. Transparency goes a long way. Otherwise, the sales person was nice as well as the sales manager. Watch out for extras when proceeding with a car purchase. I know some dealers will pad the doc fees a few hundred dollars sometimes and that's shady. When I confronted them about the extras, they acknowledged them and said they could be removed to lower the price but they should never be automatically added in the first place. I'm now inclined to go elsewhere when I do decide to finally proceed with my car purchase, which will be in a few months, as this caused me to lose partial trust in this dealership.

The package includes worthless or redundant add-ons to bring "value" to the customer - including bogus warranties that cover items already covered by the manufacturer's warranty. I expect shady business practices like this from a GM dealership, not a Toyota dealer. The argument from their sales people is that they price their vehicles "$3K-$5K" lower so these fees are justified - just don't call them "fees," because they aren't "dealer fees" according to their sales folks. I had a sales person here try to argue that used 2022 Toyota Avalon XLEs was going for - and I am not joking here - "$37k"... and he had a program that showed that gave him these numbers.
