2021 Low Mileage Gladiator High Altitude - Nice but No Deal Today
    Dave O.

I came to this dealership after talking to a wholesaler friend of mine who had seen a 2021 Low Mileage Jeep Gladiator on Carroll Chevrolet Used Car lot. We were greeted and after asking to speak with Casey the Used Car Manager one of the salesmen went to get him after telling us to make ourselves comfortable. After a cordial introduction the vehicle was brought around to the front of the dealership so we could check it out and we were offered a test drive which we did after going over some details and doing a full inspection. Although this vehicle wasn't the exact fit we were looking for everyone here was very professional and accommodating and they went out of their way to make sure all our questions were answered before we shook hands and left the dealership. This was a very pleasant experience and I'd definitely return again if I find something on their lot that interested to me...

I want to file a complaint regarding my recent experience at Carroll Chevrolet. When I brought my vehicle in for service, they damaged the roof of my new car and, subsequently, my new car's roof and, lied about it. After consulting with various mechanics at different locations, I learned that the damage likely occurred from improperly lifting the vehicle on a lift. I have pictures of the damage. Now, I have to pay out of pocket to repair my new vehicle, which has cost me over $2,000. I am so pissed off the fact that the service department lied about it.

Like the car, but the dealer is awful.

I purchased a preowned Chevy Bolt from Carroll Chevrolet. The only paperwork i received was the loan paperwork. No bill of sale or anything. I came home and went to IRS website and checked to see if the car qualified for the Tax Credit. And it does. ( according to Fueleconomy.gov) When you buy a car that does qualify, ''a seller must give you information about your vehicle's qualifications. Sellers must also register online and report the same information to the IRS. If they don't, your vehicle won't be eligible for the credit." IRS Publication 5905. Carroll Chevrolet, in a text message to me said ''they don't that'' and won't file or give me any paperwork. "Contact your CPA" was what the text message said. They also forgot to give me my key ring back that had one of my fobs on it for my trade in. It also had my house key, storage locker key, and post office box key. They put it in the mail to me the next day without tracking. But the package has been lost in mail. OH GREAT....MY HOUSE KEY IN A PACKAGE WITH MY ADDRESS ON IT IS LOST. No one thought to have the package trackable. And in the first week of owning the car, I've had the notorious "Disappearing Backup Camera" issue. And the "Cant shift out of gear" issue. Common reports on BoltForum.com. I will be taking the car to one of the Starling Group dealers to document these issues. But not Carroll. I also bet my ''Lifetime warranty" is a fiasco too. Not received any information regarding any warranty as another reviewer stated. I grew up in Osceola County and the Starling name was well regarded. I'm not so sure anymore. My advice....shop elsewhere.

Update: I spoke to JC, the gen manager, and he basically cussed me out and said I was a fucking nightmare. He said there is no way they would back out of the loan and he abruptly hung up on me The FL General Attorney's office called me this morning and we discussed how to proceed with the case and filing charges. The Saga I attempted to purchase a vehicle from Starling Chevrolet Deland. The finance man, Christian, insisted I sign a contract that day and assigned it to Wells Fargo, he said they agreed to finance. I wanted to wait and go through my credit union, but he would not agree to that.so, I signed the contract and took the car. Two weeks later I had not heard anything, so I contacted WF and they have never heard of me. They said he never submitted my information to them. I contacted Christian and he said WF fell through because I couldn't figure out my income. I had already received a check to REfinance from Navy Federal credit Union but it was unusable because Wells Fargo didn't finance. So he asked if I could finance through NFCU. It took several days because they had to cancel the refinance loan before they can submit a new loan request. He sent me a new contract to sign because it was a new financer. I asked him if it was really necessary and he said yes that you have to sign a new contract if changing financer. NFCU did not work out. ---Finance guy then asked me if he could send me a new contract for GM because they agreed to finance but at 14% not 7% like NFCU. ---I said NO absolutely not I'm returning the car. I am not signing a contract, I do not want this vehicle, it's been too much chaos. He asked if he could send a driver to bring the contract. I said no you can send a driver to pick up the car. I have all this in writing/texts. I never heard from them again. About a week later (a week ago) I got a notice from my Equifax app saying a new line of credit had been opened in my name. I looked and it was an auto loan through Starling Chevrolet Deland! But I NEVER SIGNED A CONTRACT. ---Later found out JC took the deal away from finance man and did it himself, You are so desperate to make a sale, Especially one that was so overpriced and complete price gouging, that he was willing to go to document and ruin my financial life... Just to make a bit of money. ---I've been in regular contact with GM and GM Financial services and they have opened a FRAUD investigation because they said he fraudulently submitted the contract. He crossed out Wells Fargo and wrote GM above it. Apparently, he also increased my income to make it look like I made more money so that they would approve the loan. I also lost one of my jobs during this time frame so my income is only half of what he submitted to GM, so that was fraudulent as well. And the loan is for about $2000 higher than the amount we agreed on. According to 5 attorneys I have spoken to and GM Financial, The dealer needs to back out of the loan since it is fraud. However, I won't go in alone to return the car and insist they back out because the environment is full of toxic masculinity, all men and they all yell. If I go in as a single woman, they will spin everything and make me think I'm wrong and crazy. ------- To reiterate and sum up: Starling Deland forged a contract and opened an auto loan with GM for $23,000 in my name without my permission and without my knowledge. It was dated 4/4 even though it was 5/10. During that interval I lost one of my jobs which cut my income in half. So the information he submitted to GM was false. Had they confirmed with me, they would have known this. But no one would take my calls. To this day at the dealership has never told me that they opened a loan. The initial payment was due last week but I could not pay it since it is not mine. As a result it will affect my credit score which I've worked really hard to increase over the last year. It's completely unjust that my credit score should be hurt because they opened up a fraudulent loan in my name.

A salesman sat with me for about 15 minutes and said he's gonna do this e-registration which turns out to be $599 for my opinion almost nothing at all so in essence in addition to the $400 profit they said they were making there's another $1600 here in fees and I questioned them about it today and they're not going back on any of those fees so just beware when you make purchases like this to read every single line question every single line and that's all I have to say at this point

I originally left this dealership a 5-star review after buying my brand-new Frontier Pro-4X. My…read moresales rep Justin was great. I'm changing that review to 1 star because what happened after the sale was a completely different story. The review pattern makes sense to me now. Most of the 5-star reviews are about sales. A lot of the 1-star reviews are about service. I did not understand how real that split was until I needed serious warranty work. According to Nissan Consumer Affairs' own records, my truck spent 33 days out of service at this dealership alone (not including the additional time it later spent at another Nissan dealer). They did attempt repairs, but once they could not solve the major warranty issues, management put a path forward in writing through Nissan Consumer Affairs and then later reneged on that written agreement without notice. I escalated through management, BBB, and Nissan Consumer Affairs, so there is no misunderstanding and no lack of communication. Everything is documented. When I pursued the BBB route, the dealership responded by changing the story, denying what had already been documented, and publicly presenting a version of events that was flatly inconsistent with the written record. What made the reality impossible to ignore was this: another Nissan dealership (the one Nissan Consumer Affairs sent me to after DeLand Nissan declined to continue) later verified the same issues and began major repairs under Nissan oversight. That should tell you exactly where the problem was. If you buy here and plan to service the vehicle somewhere else, you may be fine. If this is the shop you expect to stand behind the vehicle after the sale when serious warranty issues come up, buyer beware. If you want the paper trail, search "BBB DeLand Nissan" and click "Complaints."

About a…read moreyear and a half ago, my Ford lease was up and it was time to move forward on a new vehicle. My wife and I, living in Seminole county, went to a dealership nearer to our house and leased a 2017 RAV4 XLE. Our experience at that time was great and we received a great vehicle as a result. I haven't had a driver's license in nearly 8 years, and last week, I rectified that issue. It wasn't due to a criminal charge or anything like that; merely the inability to share a vehicle led to my blase outlook on possessing the card. Then, with the card in my possession and only one car at home, it only took 24 hours to realize that we could not survive, logistically, with one set of wheels at home. We went to the same dealership that we got the RAV4 from, which I won't name out of respect for Parks, and the experience I had was subpar. Don't worry, I'll write that one next. To shorten the bad aspect, they showed little to no customer service or loyalty to my return business, making me think I had chosen the wrong dealership in the first place. So I reached out to Parks and spoke with Tom Scheffer and explained the whole ordeal with the first dealership. He explained and he and his colleague, Candice, would be happy to work with us and rectify the issues I had at the other location. We arrived at 3PM on Sunday, spoke on the vehicle that I wanted, in the right color and trim level and it appeared on the side of the building, detailed with a full tank, ready to go. We went over our deal with Candice, and then moved over to Scott Levitt's office to finalize our paperwork. After another 30 minutes with Scott, and his two-color highlighter finesse, we had signed on every dotted line, set up insurance, and we were ready to caravan back to Seminole county. I went out of my element on Sunday. I was an hour North of home, at a dealership I had never been to before and I was completely, totally, impressed. The showroom was clean and uncluttered. It made me feel at home. I was not pressured. I was waited on. And felt appreciated by my being there. Parks Toyota of DeLand really pulled out all of the stops. When my wife's lease is up in 2020, I know exactly where I am going, whether it is further away or not. It is 100% worth the drive. Again, Candice Hartley, Tom Scheffer, and Scott Levitt, THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!!!!!! I could not be more satisfied. We will most definitely return. 10/10!
