A couple months after my SMILE procedure, I feel it's safe to say it's worth it! Getting consultation for vision correction surgery was on my to do list for the past year or two. Good reviews and being one of the few places nearby to offer SMILE brought me to Elite. Eye charts and measurements were done during consultation in June, and questions like "Is Lasik or SMILE more advantageous for me" were covered. Procedure day came about a month later following another eye exam. A rundown of the procedure, anti anxiety medicine taken, and a few moments in a quiet room were done beforehand. After that, lay down on a medical bed, numbing eye drops, lower eyelids held, and then the machine overhead goes to work. During this time a lens goes over one eye at a time, you focus on a light for a few seconds, the machine raises and a couple wipes are done to the eye. When this was done, no pain was felt on one eye, and I only a very slight sting on the other eye while getting lasered. My vision was foggy for a while after leaving the medical bed. A few hours later following a long nap, everything looked good and clear. My night vision is still somewhat fuzzy and see some blurring around certain lights. It seems to be getting better slowly but surely though. All things considered, getting a SMILE done was a good choice, and Elite is the right place for the task. I absolutely loved my LASIK experience at Elite LASIK. I narrowed down my search in the Indianapolis area to the top reviewed doctors around the city. After initial online consultations, it was clear that Elite was for me. Shout out to Tamika for walking me through the process, cost, and answering all of my questions at that point. She sealed the deal. Next up was an in-person visit. The worst part about this was dealing with the bright sun after my eyes were dilated - not a big deal. That day I spent time with Gabrielle, a sweet and calming presence - exactly who you want by your side. Then I met Dr Fisher, who walked me through which options were a fit for me and reviewed each of them in depth so I could make an informed decision. There was no pressure to decide anything and I went home to do more research. I ended up scheduling an appointment for LASIK. As far as timing, it was only a matter of weeks from the time I first reached out until I had my surgery. On that day, I was there for less than 2 hours and most of that was dealing with paperwork, trying to relax, and getting prepped with eye drops. My designated driver and I were in a private room with drinks, snacks, and the best dog ever if we wanted her to visit our room (of course we did). The surgeon, Dr Huang, also introduced herself before the procedure to again answer any questions I had. She has the best bedside manner - calm, confident, kind, and reassuring. She helped me feel confident in my decision. The procedure itself was very quick and, given that I had been prepped to know exactly what to expect, not scary at all. Nor was it painful. I wouldn't even call it uncomfortable, really. The numbing eye drops do wonders. I was soon sent on my way home with eye drops, a mask for sleeping, and directions to take a nap. My vision was already better, though blurry. As I woke a few hours later, I could see. That was it. I followed directions for the eye drops, drove myself to a follow-up the next morning, and was testing at 20/15 within the week. AMAZING! I'm so thankful for 20/20 Institute and Dr. Fisher. In November of 2019, I had lasik performed on both eyes. After years of a -6.75 script, I now can see 20/15 in both eyes. It is actually pretty amazing! The office is extremely professional and honest. During your consultation Dr. Fisher is honest on what she thinks they can do. Nothing is promised with medicine. The team also goes over the price which is average for Indiana. I had consultations at 4 centers and picked this one. I have no regrets! It took less than a month for me to have the surgery after the consultation. On surgery day they talk you through the whole procedure and even hold your hand. The surgery is painless and I'm a chicken so trust me! Also, offer a window where your family can watch. It is pretty amazing to have sight after surgery. I initially considered lasik because I didn't want to have to wear glasses all of the time. I hated when I did my makeup really nice & then had to put glasses on top of it. Or that I had to have glasses on to read anything at all. Then I took up SCUBA diving & couldn't really read the gauges. So, I called 4 different places, of the three that got back to me, 20/20 was the first & only appointment I kept. Sometimes the first place you look is the right place. Their office, their staff, & their doctors are so professional, welcoming, & accommodating. I had read lots of reviews before I embarked upon this venture so I knew about the whole advertised price doesn't apply to all vision situations, so I was not upset when I found out that it didn't apply to mine. They did a really good job of explaining all of the different options for surgical vision correction. I opted for the refractive lens replacement, which is what they do for cataract treatment but they replace your natural lens with a Symphony multifocal lens. So, now, not only is my vision better, but I will also never have cataracts. The surgery can be done under general anesthesia or you can be awake & they offer valium. I opted for the valium. They do one eye then wait 2 weeks for recovery & then do the 2nd eye. Being awake for it was not too bad; only because the surgery only takes about 15 min, so nothing they do lasts very long. However, when it came time for my 2nd eye, I was considering anesthesia instead. They were very accommodating and nice about me not making up my mind until the day before. I opted for valium again but doubled the dose. It helped & relaxed me enough. The recovery was a little rougher that I had anticipated. I have not worked outside the home for the last year. Previously I had an office job, being in front of a computer all day. I am not sure how well I would have managed it for the first 2-3 after each eye. But 4 weeks after both eyes is when I really started to feel better than normal. It's now been 8 weeks since both eyes have been done & I'm glad I did it. I have gotten a pair of X1.5 readers from the drug store for small type, low light situations but for general purposes I'm glasses free. That is slightly disappointing but that's mostly because I hardly even remember how bad my vision was before. If I knew then what I know now, I'd still do it. read more

I was seen at 20/20 Institute in 2013. The staff was friendly and the experience was good but I backed out, I was afraid. I returned to 20/20 in a Friday in April 2017. I walked in very welcoming and friendly. Their attitudes are so calming. I didn't leave without a surgery date this time, which was the following Friday. I showed up at scheduled time, I was called back again with the calming voices (leaves me wondering if there is a calm voice seminar I could take somewhere). All the staff I spoke with was so comforting. I was scared. I took my pill waited a few minutes and it was time. Staff was encouraging and explained every step of the way what was going to happen. Even gave a by the seconds countdown through the worst part which was really not the worst part. The worst part was the clampy thing that kept the eye open during the procedure but it wasn't horrible just awkward feeling and to be fair the doctor told me that would be the most uncomfortable because my eyes are set back some. read more

I can't begin to tell you how awesome this place is and how incredible the staff and doctors are. I went to 3 other offices before I went here. I researched doctors, equipment, if any had law suits, malpractice suits, or BBB complaints. I was so scared after going to the other 3 offices, I wasn't even sure I would have the surgery done, but I thought I would give it one last college try, and boy am I glad I did! They are the top of the line! They are the best in their field. I was so impressed with my initial visit that I scheduled surgery the next day! There was ZERO pain, they explained everything they were doing, and I could see immediately after the surgery, with no glasses! I am one week after, and can see up close AND far away with no assistance at 52 years old! For over 4 years I had daily migraines, neck pain, back pain, difficulty driving, and balance issues. I have not had a single issue with any of those things since the day of my surgery! My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner! Your eyesight is nothing to take lightly! There were plenty of LASIK surgeons in my home town, but I was willing to drive 2 hours one way to have 20/20 Institute doctors do my surgery. Such a great experience here at 20/20. They were very quick to schedule appointments and I never had to wait in the waiting room. They were also very flexible with rescheduling one of my appointments as well. Very friendly staff. Clean office! They had an abundance of snacks on surgery day. The best part... there was a dog! Made my experience so much better since I'm such a dog person! She was there to comfort the patients on surgery day who were nervous. She was sooo sweet! The surgery was very quick and I cried immediately afterwards because I was so happy I could see instantly. My vision in both eyes was -5.00. They got me seeing 20/15. (Which is better than 20/20) I am LASIK certified today run the LASIK machines myself. I worked alongside an eye doctor who performed this procedure and I assisted him. I am very aware of what goes on "behind closed doors" during a procedure like this, but 20/20 didn't make it a secret. They were very open to showing me around the office before I decided to schedule my procedure. I could have done this with the company I previously worked for for FREE!! I had PRK at 20/20 institute in Indianapolis done in Jan 2019, and it has ruined my quality of life. I have waited 16 months to write a review as I wanted to be fair, and allow plenty of time for healing. I posted a Google review, but it has apparently disappeared after being up for 2 days, and only their 5 star reviews remain. I'm hoping this review stays posted, I'm writing about my experience and would like it to be heard. My end outcome from refractive surgery is constant discomfort from dry eyes, astigmatism, starbursts at night making driving difficult, overall decreased vision in dim light, I require bifocal glasses to see clearly (I can't wear contacts because my eyes are too dry), I battle MGD and blepharitis (which I had never heard of before the surgery), and my right eyelid is droopy. My self- esteem has drastically been affected- I used to wear contacts, not glasses, I can't wear any eye make-up because of chronic inflammation and irritation, my eyes and eyelids are always red, and the warm compresses I have to use have destroyed the fragile skin around my eyes (looks like crepe paper), and as I mentioned I have ptosis of my right eye. I've had to pay out of pocket to see a corneal specialist, have expensive treatments, and I spend over $350/month for eye drops and supplements. In addition to all these new expenses, I have been forced to decrease my work hours due to the pain and burning in my eyes. I have to sleep with ointment in my eyes, and my eyes taped shut. I have to wear goggle glasses to go outside, or ride in the car with the air/heat on. I used to love the outdoors- biking, hiking, swimming, but now with dry burning eyes and photophobia, nothing is enjoyable. This has been a nightmare for me and many others. I belong to a support group for people who have had LASIK complications and there are thousands of us living with the regret and consequences of elective eye surgery. As the doctor reminded me after the surgery- all surgeries have the potential for unforeseen complications. It is my opinion that no one should risk their precious eyes! Three months after surgery and it is life changing. I never realized how much of a hassle glasses were until I finally decided to go through with it. I could not be happier with my choice to go with the 20/20 institute, The whole staff is very friendly, professional, and skilled. Belinda helped me through my consultation and was very easy to talk to and was great about following up. The day of surgery Dr. Zeh was straight to the point and knowledgeable. To be honest when I walked in I thought whoah this place might be too nice and potentially expensive, but with their different financing options it's smooth sailing. In regards to the procedure itself be prepared, it's pretty rough until you get some rest afterwards. You're eyes are going to be pretty angry but It is well worth it. I live on the south side so I had a bit of a hike to get home making the car ride not so fun towards the end. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get a hotel room close by unless your within 5-10 minutes away.
