If you are smart enough to check Yelp before hiring, (unlike us) you will choose not to hire Todd Sessions/ Elite Insullation and solar. We got ripped off and are kicking ourselves for hiring him. He is a great salesman and has a nice truck and trailer, but that's all the good we can say about his business. Unfortunately we went off of one recommendation by a friend, but that friend must not have known what quality insullation looks like. Firstly he took our entire 50% deposit and did not spend any of it on supplies and said he had personal issues and needed to spend it on his living expenses etc. So, when he showed up we had to buy tons of supplies out of our own pocket. We would have sued at that point since he took our money and couldn't do the job. However, we know well enough we could only have sued for $5000 in small claims court, and after sent to collections, if they ever recovered any, we could only expect 60% of that - and likely they would never get a dime out of him. So we figured we would have to squeeze any work out of him we could to regain any work for the $8000 we already gave him. We feared giving him any more money, so went to Lowes to buy it for him and kept the recipts. Things went badly from that point. He never worked a full 8 hour day day, showed up randomly and alone for a couple of hours at a time and always had one excuse after another for why he wasnt there or had to leave early and arrive late, which delayed our inspection. ( he showed up once with a young girl but that is the only exception) His work was shoddy, he was highly disorganized and inefficient, and left parts unfinished and also gaps in the insullation, and he pulled/ peeled apart insullation, making it half as thin as normal in order to stretch the material instead of laying the proper amount. He pulled the insullation forward, away from the back of the walls to trick us into making it appear as if he had pushed it flat against the wall and as if he had fully filled the cavity as is required. He couldn't pull one over on us because my husband was a building contractor so knows what it should look like. It failed inspection for multiple reasons. He said he would fix all the things. He came back a couple of times and did a little bit, and swore he did all the corrections on the fix it list but he didn't. Time and time again we would tell him what he still had to fix and he always failed to do so. We gave up on him and are moving on with our lives. We had to go buy more insullation today, and fix it ourselves so it will pass inspection. At this point he owes us a minimum of $500 plus a full day of work we did ourselves which we have overpaid him per contract considering the additional out of pocket costs we paid that he was supposed to cover. He now has the nerve to ask us to pay him half of the next part of the job which is to spray the attic. He must think we just fell off the turnip truck if he thinks we are that dumb. If we give him that, he will do as he did the last time and spend it on himself and not buy supplies and do a crappy job. Then we will be stuck finishing that job ourselves and he will make off with the deposit again. So he is fired at this point and I guess we cut our losses . We will do the attic ourselves I guess. Considering contacting the State licence board about him not retaining our deposit for supplies. read more
