TL;DR - honest company, great employees, immediate service, quality work We've used Ron and Apple Heating and Cooling since we bought our home five years ago, and in all that time, the company has been exceptional! We've limped along with a heater that's been failing for a couple years now, and the entire time Apple has worked with us to make fixes to delay the purchase of a new heater. Everything was up to us, and they supported every decision we made with no sales pressure to add work or new equipment. Our heater did finally fail, and Apple was at the house diagnosing the issues within hours of calling for help. They walked us through choosing the best heater for the house, and we did call around for second opinions. Everyone agreed with the diagnosis, so never once did Apple tell fibs to sell a service! They were truthful and honest, and their prices are fair and competitive. They helped us arrange everything, and within days of setting everything up, the team was at the house to install the heater. By my count, they were at my house for six hours, working straight through, even though I suggested they take breaks. However, the Apple wouldn't quit until the job was done! They were considerate and kind, and left absolutely no mess whatsoever. The job was clean and the new heater area is well organized and easy to get to. They arranged everything with the inspection, and the whole thing was just seamless and easy. And Ron went above and beyond! After thinking about our old house, he gave me a call later to suggest other things we could do to maximize our heat/cold retention and cut down our bills. All of his suggestions were not related to his services, either, but things we could do on our own. He clearly explained the do it yourself work, taking time out of his busy day to make sure our needs were met, even though he would not be doing the work. Additionally, when we bought the house, Apple ran a gas line to the kitchen for a new stove and to the backyard for a grill. Again, impeccable service! 10/10 best HVAC company out there! read more

Ron is prompt and seems knowledgeable. But my problem with Apple is he didn't tell me ahead of time what the estimate would cost. He showed up with a co-worker which I thought was not necessary for 2 men for an estimate. I had already dismantled my A/C unit and figured out what component was bad. Then he hits me with an $89 estimate fee. I was told this fee goes towards the actual estimate if I have them do the job. He quoted me $2,502 to replace the compressor. I feel that the estimate fee is somewhat psychological to make the customer feel obligated to use them, now that your already into it $89. Another company I called afterwards charges $58 and a second one would do it with no charge. Granted, I have yet to see their quotes. After saying all of that, I think Apple should be upfront with his customers on how much his initial estimate fee will be. I assumed no charge since it was not mentioned when I first called. Update: I called Comfort Air to check my A/C unit. Don did a complete inspection, testing everything. His findings were that it needed a small part which ended up costing me $175. Also, there was no service charge for him to come out. He tested everything and said my unit is in great working order. My suggestion, beware of Apple Heating and Air. They were reasonable in price, thorough, and found an issue that the guy who wanted to charge me 3x more totally missed in his quote. Our AC unit wasn't working on the first hot day of the year, and I used Yelp to find a local small business to help. Ron was very friendly to myself and my kids, professional, and knowledgeable about what was going on and our problem wasn't as bad as we had originally thought! We are actually able to fix it ourselves, which is saving us a good chunk of change. He made sure that I understood everything that he was doing so I can trouble-shoot in the future. Our AC died and it was old so we had Apple put in a new system. I should've done my due diligence and done more research on the quality of brands of AC/furnace combos. I went with the lower priced system (Goodman). After they left, I attempted to cool my house down to 75° and the lowest it got was 77 and then started to go up. The outside temperature was 100° and dry. The house was 80° at initial start up. I discovered a lot of cool air escaping through the furnace in more than one location. I called Apple and they sent a technician the next day. She added a little water to the P-trap and started taping places where air was escaping (I had to continue taping leaks after she left.) She also checked the refrigerant level and discovered it overfilled and took some out. She advised that this could cause a problem with efficiency. I added a new system in a prior house and it had no issues whatsoever In the approximate eight years that we remained there. That brand was American Standard. This is a nice, honest, family owned business but I would've been happier had the job been done right the first time with a proper refrigerant level and no leaks out of the furnace. read more

NOT IMPRESSED! We decided to give a small town guy a chance, but what a mistake! He charges an arm and a leg and takes advantage of customers' lack of knowledge in this business. I will give 2 stars because he did respond timely, the end. As for the service, 1 star is all I will give. He charged our a/c unit knowing it likely had a leak, but told us it is an old unit and it probably just ran out after not being used for so long. Then, he used an outdated coolant saying our unit was so old that it was the only type it could use. We found out later from another HVAC company that what he said was not true. For one, the EPA states no HVAC tech should charge a unit without checking for a leak first, which he did not do. He added the coolant anyway and after 3 weeks it has run out from a leak! My husband called to ask him about a warranty or some kind of good faith customer service effort and he put it back on my husband! He had the guts to tell my husband that he offered to CHECK for a leak (not fix it either) for a mere $600 and that my husband declined. Not only is that a ridiculous amount to just check a unit for leaks, but he NEVER even offered that. I don't feel that he is honest or cares for customers. I will not recommend this company or Mr. Apple to anyone I know. He will take advantage of you and your lack of understanding so that you pay over and over to have him back. Beware!!
