I'd give AR Williams a mixed but fair review…read more I initially called because I have a 7 to 8 year old Mitsubishi mini split in my garage that had stopped cooling. After calling several other HVAC companies that weren't interested in working on a mini split, someone else in the construction industry recommended AR Williams. When I first called, I was told they generally don't work on mini splits either. After explaining that I also had a conventional split system in my house that needed attention and that I wasn't interested in hiring two different companies, they agreed to come out and look at both systems. The technician who came out was excellent. He was professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain what he was seeing. He quickly determined that the mini split had lost its refrigerant charge. After adding R-410A, we were immediately able to hear the leak coming from the indoor head unit, confirming the system had a refrigerant leak. At that point, he discussed replacement options. They preferred replacing the system rather than repairing an older R-410A unit, while I decided I'd rather look into sourcing a replacement indoor head myself. My only real complaint is the pricing model. The technician spent roughly an hour and a half at my house, and the bill came to just over $600. Coming from the construction and service industry myself, I'm accustomed to straightforward hourly labor plus material markup. AR Williams uses flat-rate, software-based pricing where each task has a predetermined price regardless of how long it takes or the actual material cost. That's simply not a pricing model I'm personally comfortable with. I don't have any complaints about the technician or the professionalism of the visit. In fact, I'd happily have him back. My decision not to use AR Williams again is based solely on their pricing structure, not the quality of the people they employ. If you're comfortable with flat-rate pricing, you may have a different experience than I did. It just isn't the right fit for me.

My first step when hiring a company for a major project is always to read reviews. We received…read morequotes from two different companies, and when this company came out, the representative explained that they have been serving Port St. Lucie for a long time and that the business is still independently owned rather than being sold to a larger corporation. That's something I really appreciate because it's becoming harder and harder to find locally owned companies these days. The only frustrating part of the process was getting an updated quote. We had waited too long, and the original estimate had expired. My husband called the office several times, and each time they had to take down all of his information again because it apparently had never been entered into the system. That seemed a bit unusual, as I would expect everyone to have access to the same customer information. After discussing our options with the salesman, we decided to move forward. The installation was scheduled just a few days later. We had both the inside and outside units replaced. The crew arrived around 9:00 a.m. and finished shortly after 2:00 p.m. One of the heater components that was delivered was incorrect, but we were informed that the technician would return with the correct part. The installers were friendly, professional, and seemed very knowledgeable. I chatted with them a few times throughout the day, and they worked efficiently to get everything completed. The installation also included a new thermostat, with the cost. Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that our electric bill will drop significantly. Our old system seemed to run nonstop, and I'm hoping this new, more efficient unit will make a noticeable difference. With the energy savings, I'm optimistic that the investment will pay for itself within a few years.

Our A/C stopped cooling. Was making awful sounds outside, no cool air inside. I had 4 other…read morecompanies come by to diagnose the problem and give me quotes. All of them determined there is a huge leak in my evap coil, and I would need to get an entire new system for thousands of dollars. A/C Doctors was the only one to realise there was something else amiss, and to take the time and properly diagnose the issue. Turns out it was a plugged up valve. They fixed the valve for a fraction of the price of the other companies, and now my A/C is running ice cold. If you need help with your A/C but don't know who to call, this is it, this is the company you are looking for. Knowledgeable, communicative, no nonsense service. 4 other companies got it wrong. A/C Doctors got it right.

We scheduled an AC maintenance service after seeing the company's advertised $99 promotion. The…read moreappointment was booked at the promotional rate, but when the technician arrived, we were told the price was actually higher. After the service was completed, we were told the system looked great and that maintenance items, including cleaning the drain pan, had been completed. However, the AC didn't seem any different afterward, so I inspected the unit myself. The drain pan still contained debris and a dead roach. To be clear, our issue was never that there was a roach. This is Florida. Roaches happen. We never expected an HVAC company to provide pest control services. The reason the roach was mentioned is because it was still sitting in the exact area we were told had been cleaned. It raised a reasonable question: if that area wasn't cleaned, what other maintenance items may not have been completed as represented? When my wife politely called to ask about the work that had been performed, instead of addressing the concern or offering to inspect the issue, we were told our account had been marked "do not service." The company also publicly advertises a 100% money-back guarantee. Because we were dissatisfied with the service and had concerns about the work performed, we requested a refund. That request was denied. The owner's response focuses entirely on claiming the AC was "infested with cockroaches." Even if that were true, it doesn't address any of the actual concerns: * Why was a $99 promotion not honored? * Why was a money-back guarantee not honored? * Why was a customer labeled "do not service" for asking questions? * Why did the condition of the drain pan appear inconsistent with the work we were told had been completed? Since posting this review, the story has continued to change. The company has publicly claimed there were rat droppings in the system, that the technician left because of health and cleanliness concerns, that we expected them to perform pest control services, and that we threatened them with a bad review if they did not remove roaches. None of these claims were ever communicated to us during the service visit, documented on the invoice, included in any service report, or mentioned when we initially raised our concerns. We hired an HVAC company for routine maintenance, not pest control, and at no point did we request pest-control services. As for the repeated claims of a severe infestation, people can review the photos for themselves. The photos we posted showed a single dead roach in a drain pan in Florida during the summer. Readers can decide for themselves whether that supports the company's characterization of the system as being "totally and completely infested." People can review the screenshots, photos, emails, and documentation for themselves and come to their own conclusions. We are simply sharing our experience so others can make an informed decision.
