Admittedly, I don't do a lot of dry cleaning. Maybe 20-25 times since we have lived in this neighborhood the past 10 years, I have always used this cleaner. Always been super friendly and did a great job until the last 2 times I've been in. I truly believe based on my own experience that there is a new owner or manager because the service is so extremely different than it always has been, that there is no other explanation. My very last visit went like this: I walked in with my daughter's graduation gown. Baccalaureate was the next evening and we just realized her gown was still folded up in the plastic bag. No worries, I thought, a professional steam machine would knock this out in like 90 seconds. I went to Elite Cleaners, who by the way has large lettering in the window that says SAME DAY SERVICE. My request was simple and polite. "Hi there! Any chance you could steam this by tomorrow evening?" The two employees standing there talking to each other reacted so strangely that I thought they must be joking. "Uhhh, no." I'm thinking to myself, she's kidding she's about to laugh and say, "Of course we can!" But as several seconds ticked by and we are standing there in silence, maintaining the weird expectant eye contact, I realized that she wasn't kidding. That's actually how she was telling me she did not want my business. I looked back and forth between the two still expecting one of them to say SOMETHING... explain the bizarre exchange. Nope. I turned around and walked out and the very next cleaner I came to was happy to take my $10 for 90 seconds of work. Goodbye Elite Cleaners. If this is the same owner, please fire the current manager because the staff is awful. read more
