Quality service! Quicker and better than the others in the Overland Park area. My go to store now.

I need to start off by saying people writing bad reviews about this shop in the last month or so…read moreare so mean! I understand people are overly stress about covid but don't take it out on shops! On with my review! Mid april i wanted to buy a mountain bike and i kinda knew it would be difficult to find a full suspension in my price point because every place i checked was sold out. So i walked in this store and i could say it was off putting because it was so busy and it didn't seem like they had enough people working in the store. As i was walking around checking inventory a guy said you need help i'll be right with you ( he was helping 3 other people ) Dave came over 5-10 minutes later said what can i do for you. He found me a bike in the price point and over the next week he found a part i needed to hook a kids trailer to my bike. Did all this looking stuff up on the computer answering phones and trying to take care of everyone walking in the door lol.. At one point i didn't think he would remember about a part he was going to have them install when they got my bike in... I was wrong, not only did he remember the part he had them put it on right away. I watched Dave take care of customers 1 after another and a few at a time over 2 weeks. One lady had a problem with something she bought there, Dave looked her in the eye said i have never seen this happen before in over 15 years so you tell me what you want to do for you to walk out happy, i'll refund your money in full or give you another unit ( i think it was a bike rack maybe) . She wanted a new unit and dave made the bike builder stop what he was doing to build this ladies unit on the spot! I am a huge fan of this shop now, it's like that 80's bike shop before corporations, cool to talk to and they know there stuff about bikes. I ended up buying another bike for my wife today (so we can take a ride together) I found out 3 workers quit because of covid and their volume doubled because everyone wants bikes or getting there old bikes worked on. So when you walk in those doors have the mind set it's going to be a little disorganized but they will do right by you! Good Luck Everyone, Stay Safe.

I left an electric bike to sell in November of 2023. In June of 2025 I received an email from…read moresomeone who purchased the bike. After contacting Nick the owner and confirming the bike indeed had sold we have never received the money.. We have REPEATEDLY been told the check I in the mail. Blatant Fraud. Never been paid. Don't trust this shop to be honest.

Bike America - They claimed to have fixed this tire's flat - in fact I think they told me the replaced the inner tube. Obviously they didn't.

I took my bike to Erik's Bike Board Ski on 95th St., Leawood, KS. The serviceman examined my bike,…read moresaid small repairs would be $55.00 (including labor). The bike was ready the next day. I asked about the price of a tune-up; he said "$150, but you don't need a full tune-up. We will only charge what you need." I asked about the crank shaft. He said it was fine. I had issues with the brake lines, but no crank shaft issues. This is significant because I went to the Erik's on 135th St., Overland Park, KS before going to the 95th St. location. I was told the crank shaft needed to be replaced and the cost would be about $147 (including labor). They said if the bike can't be repaired, I could get a comparable bike for $850. I am so glad I followed my instincts at went to the 95th St. location for a second opinion. Great service and honest values goes a long way and I will always return to Erik's on 95th St. Thank you!

The way he spoke with my daughter to help fit her to the right bike was just so sweet. He was helpful and encouraging of her. He was also very respectful. Always asking if he could hold on to her shoulder to show her how to ride or to hold my son's head to try on the helmet. I will definitely be recommending Erik's and Brian to anyone I know looking for a bike. We'll definitely be back!

Nutshell version -- EBIKES ARE GAME CHANGERS. SO FUN!…read more Buying my ebike from Midwest Cyclery has been the best sales/service experience I've had for a very long time. Sometimes you don't know how solid a business is until you see how they handle problems. My bike, scheduled to be delivered in July, FINALLY made it to their shop on August 20th. The port delays and delays within the transportation chain are just part of life these days. Everyone has experienced them. But I was not left hanging without communication. Christina (small business owner, on duty 24/7) kept me informed. Around the 1st of August, when the bike was officially "late" Christina was on her suppliers & transportation chain like ugly on ape. She did a great job of keeping me informed. She knew I was anxious I was to get my Gazelle and apologized several time for the delay even though it was not her fault and completely outside of her control. It finally arrived. When I got to the shop, it was just assembled and finishing charging. She fitted my bike to me and went through all the tips about "how" to position myself when I ride, what to pay attention to, etc. I learned stuff from her it would've taken me YEARS to learn on my own. As I said in my first review, she grew up in this shop and is incredibly knowledgeable. We rode our bikes that night- awesome. The next morning, the unthinkable happened.... when we were at home attaching the Aussie's trailer to my PC's bike, something broke. ON OUR VERY FIRST MORNING to go riding. With a less than steller bike shop, this could have made for a very disappointing problem. I messaged Christiana & called the shop - Bob said to bring in it. Both assured us they could fix it. On a Saturday morning, both Christiana, Bob & one of their awesome employees put the bike on a lift and kept trying different parts to work with our trailer bracket until they got a fit. Getting his XL bike on the Thule bike rack presented challenges with a water bottle holder he'd just put on too. Bob was right there and helped us figure it out. We were in and out of the shop READY TO RIDE that morning. Here's there thing.... I looked at almost every bike shop in the KC/Overland Park area. I spent A LOT of time shopping, test riding, researching & asking questions about ebikes. These ebikes are very popular and there are A LOT of novice sales people out there giving out wrong information. I'm not dropping this kind of money without due diligence. Midwest Cyclery is a first rate shop. They know a lot of their customer's by name. I heard potential customers say another customer referred them. Because I'm a former small business owner, I try to always include other locally owned small businesses when I'm looking to buy something important. I feel I got lucky when I found Midwest Cyclery. I know I could have spent less or shopped closer to where I live. But they wouldn't have had the same quality of ebike as my Gazelle or been able to give me the expert help I needed. I wanted an ebike I could and would enjoy for several years. I NEEDED a place to answer all my questions as a complete novice without making me feel stupid or embarrassed and fix something when I mess up. Someplace that encourages customers to bring their bikes back periodically within the first year just so they can make sure their customer is satisfied and the bike is operating perfectly. In summary - that is Midwest Cyclery. They have forged excellent relationships with their customers AND suppliers. There were more ebikes here to choose from than any other shop around. They get bikes when the others can't. They are a solid, reputable and well-respected bike shop for those who really know about bikes and are serious about riding. And, for people like me. It is my pleasure to recommend them to others and frankly, what YELP is all about to me. Small businesses don't have huge advertising budgets so if I can share my great experience with other YELPERS, it's my pleasure to do so. If you don't know about Ebikes, check them out! They are a great way to start exercising. They make pedaling up hills possible without hating every minute of it. One can ride several miles. Yes, you still have to pedal but you can determine how much and when you need assistance. They make you feel like a kid again!

I've had two favorite bike shops over the past decade, and both have shuttered their doors…read more Midwest Cyclery is next in line to be my go-to based on it's convenient midtown location. I went in specifically looking for a U-lock for my commuter bike, and they had lots of options all priced as good as you'd find online. The staff was helpful but not intrusive as I wandered around trying to get my bearings. One reason I'm not quite at five stars is that it's still so new to me; I haven't had them work on any of my bikes, bought any big ticket items, etc. I lightly perused the bike selection which is pretty good, at least for right now in these weird supply-chain times. There's a big parking lot out front (rare for midtown) and it's easy to get to from the Plaza/Brookside/Westport. Recommend giving them a go and looking forward to updating this down the road after a few more visits!
