Made this my go to cleaner after we had a problem with Thayer. My gf's blouse had a stain on it that was left over after we took it to Thayer, but Elite was able to get it out in 30 seconds without charging us. This made us switch all of our dry cleaning needs here. Their two day service can't be beat and the prices are very reasonable for NYC. Have taken multiple coats and suits there over the past 6 months and have nothing but good things to say about them. One of my suits has a small hole I got on the subway, which they warned might expand during the cleaning process, but it's stayed exactly the same size so I appreciate the care they take. This place is a rip off - they charge 1.25 per pound of laundry (wash and fold), which is fine. However, I brought in 2 bags of laundry as A SINGLE order... they charged me as if I had 2 separate orders entirely. This was annoying because they then said each "order" was under the 10 lb minimum and that I had to pay $15 for each bag (the minimum charge if your load is under 10 lbs). So instead of weighing ALL MY LAUNDRY TOGETHER, they split it up into separate loads to be able to charge me $15 for each despite the fact that the TOTAL AMOUNT OF LAUNDRY I BROUGHT IN was GREATER than 10 lbs. They're cheaper than the local competition but not worth the headache. I brought some shirts in there, one being a $150 Thomas Pink only to get it back with yellow stains on the front and back. They argued with me that it was there when I brought it in and they couldnt get it out. They refused to pay for it. I left and returned the next day and demanded payment for the shirt at which time they agreed to clean it again. They tried to get me to sign a release form saying they were free from damage. The shirt was clean when I got it back. Two weeks later I thought Id give them another try, after all they did rectify the problem for me. These people are super annoying and arrogant. Brought several expensive items there to clean. First, they couldn't get a make- up stain out of a cotton shirt, and told me it was not possible to remove it. Second, i discovered that my velvet blazer had shrunk after the cleaning. When i went back to tell Elite cleaners about the blazer, they insisted it couldn't be true, and that "nothing ever shrinks" there. When I politely told them that, I was very sorry, but, even though i hadn't gained weight, i couldn't fit into may beloved blazer anymore, she became quite nasty, basically telling me I was lying. Not sure what the point would be for me to go back there and complain about something that never happened,,,,, read more

Elite Cleaners, unlike Thayer down the street, does not send out their suits for drycleaning. This means faster (same day!) turnaround time, for the same price as a three day turnaround. The couple who runs Elite is very sweet and I have had no issues with drycleaning suits, dresses, and a wool jacket. read more

They did a really good job dry cleaning two piece of clothing. They were able to clean away glue residue that a dry cleaner on Broadway and 174th St could not remove. This place's turn around time was 3 business days. The price was pretty much the same as compared to the other dry cleaners around the area. Would definitely use their service again and would recommend the dry cleaning to friends. read more

Surprised by all the one star reviews. My fiancé dry cleans his shirts and wool pants here biweekly and has never been anything but satisfied. I once gave them an expensive and flimsy silk dress with floral appliqués on it and it came out perfect. They'll even fix loose buttons and minor tears for free and/or a nominal charge. It's run by a nice Korean couple and prices are pretty cheap by NYC standards. Yes, they don't speak a lot of English, but I'm pretty sure you don't need an extensive grasp of the English vocabulary to be in the dry cleaning business. I'm fully satisfied with this store and much prefer it to Thayer dry cleaners down the street which is more expensive and has a longer turn-around time. read more

Dropped of my winter coat at 10am for next morning pickup I go same time next day my coat looks dirtier than when I dropped it off. Mind you I called and asked if it was ready and was told to come in (I know it's wrong but good luck understanding them) I pointed it out I was told I didn't give them enough time to clean it, if that's the case why charge me for next day service. Was confused about all the 1 star reviews but realized the date they were posted! I think the new korean owner came about 1-2 years ago! She is very lovely and always have conversations with her customers. Been going here for a month now and I never had a problem with my clothes. I sent an expensive dress here with a stain recently and it came back amazing! Highly recommend read more

In my experience, they are definitely the best cleaner in the area. I've lived in Washington Heights for 2+ years, and previously used Thayer down the street for a long time, but was never very happy with them; they would constantly break buttons on my shirts, leave creases in shirts, not clean stuff as well as I would have liked, etc. I started using Elite Cleaners a few months ago, and I'm way happier with their cleaning. No broken buttons yet, no creases, great handling of french cuffs. They even put their own plastic collar stays in shirts. My only complaint would be they are a little expensive, and the prices seem to vary based on their mood, but I guess you get what you pay for. I've never had any problems with their customer service, although I always like my shirts laundered (not dry cleaned) with light starch, and I'm never convinced they are necessarily doing what I ask, but the end result is always great so I haven't worried too much about it. read more
