A few weeks ago, my boyfriend & I made our first trip to Elite Buffet. We came on a weekday for lunch and it wasn't as busy, but then families started to come. I could see WHY business became busy...the price per person is reasonable and their food is delicious! Everything tasted like the people cooking poured their love into it:) I especially liked their coconut shrimp, black pepper chicken, crab legs, and sushi. I am a buffet fanatic and have been to many. Wasn't sure what kind of fare they were serving, and found out it was basic American Chinese buffet fare. $6.75 for lunch + $1.49 for a drink (my buddy and I ordered iced tea, and recieved refills). For the price you get exactly what you would expect. The one thing that sets this buffet apart is that every dish I tried (save one, the little stuffed crab shells) was really good. Great selection of standard hot entrees, dessert selection was very limited, but once again, every dish I sampled was spot on in flavor. I went away full and happy, staff was kind and courteous and deserve a full five stars. The lines were unstructured so the patrons were darting in every which way, but it was definitley worth it. Highlights included teriaki chicken, and little stuffed mushroom caps. Not really recommended for a date, but for lunch with a friend (especially a hungry one) this place is a winner. I will be going back. The price is right, and the food is prepared correctly to satisfy that Chinese buffet experience. read more

Even though it was close to 3pm all the food was constantly replenished. I enjoyed the butter shrimp - what made it even better was the large supply of fresh limes! I will return! read more

Had a very nice dinner here. It's been getting better and better. The trick is to try a tiny bit of everything 1st round. Like I didn't like taste of orange chicken so didn't get anymore. But everything else was pretty good. Even the fried fish was yummy, when in the past I remember it was a tad gamey. Not anymore! Aside from the fried fish I usually don't take any of the other seafood. I think they should have a few more healthy veggie dishes, but they do have a full salad bar but I usually go straight for the protein. My indulgence is those cheese stuffed mushrooms! I try to only eat 6 of them!! The teriyaki chicken and new Korean chicken are great with steamed rice. For some reason they didn't put any new pizza out but I was kinda glad coz the other stuff is better. The shrimp & zucchini is good. Deserts are yummy and drinks are always refreshing. Horrendous. Smelled like bad fish when I walked in and only stayed because I saw how many stars it had. Typically expect lesser quality for buffets, but this was bad even for a buffet. If I hadn't been desperate for food and out of time, I would have asked for my money back. Tried almost every dish but couldn't handle more than a couple forks full of each one. Even the usual "can't miss" appetizer-like food (cream cheese wontons, egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken) were rubbery and nasty. Staff was unattentive and appeared sad. This as during prime eating hours on a Saturday, btw. Would expect this to be the best showing for food. Definitely not the case. Never going back. Rather eat McDonald's or Arby's read more

Pretty good Chinese food, worth about a 4 star rating, but added an extra star because of the available option to purchase their tasty selections...by the pound :D You can pop into this self-serve place and grab a to-go container right next to the entry, then proceed to their buffet area. Pick from a large selection and variety of dishes, then weigh them at the cashier area. I think cost is about $4.50 per pound. I regularly take food to my mom and special-needs brother and this to-go option works great for me. I can pop in and quickly grab plates of good food, different variety each time, for a very reasonable price. There are no limitations to food choices on to-go orders. Good variety of entrees, salads, and deserts. Staff is not the friendliest, but otherwise a terrific place. read more

I really don't understand why this place even has a 3.5 star rating ... we just finished having dinner here and the food was horrible!! Aside from the fruits that came out of a can and maybe the steak that was still pretty chewy but edible, everything else was horrible. It's been maybe 5 years or so since we've been here and after reading some good reviews we thought we'd give it another shot but NOPE!!! never again. Not much of a selection. Food is marginal at best. There wasn't one thing I ate that I thought "wow". The ice cream is ice milk. They play Mexican music. It's a Chinese/Japanese restaurant. You can find a better Chinese buffet. There is one in La Mesa which is a little bit better, with 3 times as much selection with a cook making stir fry from ingredients you choose. I had a terrible experience here! Me, my friend & our children went here today & this was by far the worst experience ever. First they sat us in the back corner when there were plenty of seats available. Then when we were leaving I had issues with my debit card. I talked to the woman at the counter & explained to her I would run to Wells Fargo (in the same parking lot) & bring her back the money. She asked me to leave one of my children.. Lol . I declined! Then she asked me to leave her my phone... I declined again. We were in agreement that I would be right back & she can take down my license plate #. As I walk away & head to the door she runs behind me making a HUGE.scene. Yelling & screaming that I didn't pay. This of course upsets me because we just had a conversation about me coming right back! I understand that they may get ripped off sometimes but like I said, she agreed! When I came back to pay she didn't even apologize! I got the managers # & called her to explain how embarrassed me & my children were! She said she would take care of it, but it's probably her sister or cousin... I wouldn't recommend this place to my dog! Very terrible customer service! & the food was very greasy! They didn't even offer to refill our drinks while we were there! I guess we should have known from the beginning everything was going to be all bad! read more

My friend and I went to this place and thought all of the food was just about perfect. The place itself is bland but the great tasting food more than makes up for it. You can expect almost everything you put on your plate to be just right or better. The only let down for me was that my favorite dish, the Orange Chicken, has no spicy kick at all, but I'll gladly go here for everything else. They have fried ripe plantains (!) next to french fries, in addition to all the other awesome items, but finding those two items alone seal the deal for me. read more

I was almost finished eating my food when I saw a black bug in my white rice crawling around I immediately killed it but just knowing that it was there made my stomach twirl!!! This place is decent. The food is good and so is the service, but I am rating this because of my encounter with the manager/cook. My group and I tried some of the shrimp cocktail and me and my group can say that we are NOT PLEASED AT ALL. The shrimp had little black spots on them, and the worst part was that it the shrimp was rotten. It had a sour taste and left that same taste in your mouth. Literally we felt queasy from the taste. We brought this up to the busser and explained that the shrimp was rotten taste and had a foul smell so he went to get the manager. We explained to the manage what we had explained to the busser about the shrimp so he got a new batch and asked if we wanted more and we said no we feel sick after the taste of the shrimp. The manage tried to tell us that the shrimp was fresh from the afternoon and that they just cooked it. He also stated that the company delivered the shrimp to them frozen and so I asked him how they thaw out the shrimp and he kept trying to change the subject by telling us that they just cooked it and that it was fresh from the afternoon. I told him that if they thaw out the shrimp in warm or hot water, it allows bacteria to grow in the food and he acted like he could not understand me, got upset and walked away. He said he would comp one of my group members plate. So when we got the check all our plates were still charged so we called the manager back and told him we thought we were suppose to get one of our plates comp so he got upset again and walked away to get our new charge. Lastly as we were checking out at the register I look back and see the manager giving us all a dirty look like we did something wrong. In the review I am more concerned about the health of people who eat there, because if that manager shows no concern about the fact that he could get someone real sick from his food and more concerned about being right in every situation than they most definitely do not deserve a good review. read more
