I was in dire need of a haircut. My wife and entire family goes to Kara for their hairstyling needs. She's very good and tough to get into. I was able to get an appointment with Emily. She met me in Eli's patrons lounge, greeting me with a big smile, a firm handshake and introduced herself. She was very honestly attentive when I described what type and how much hair I wanted cut. After a shampoo she led me to her station. Prior to actually cutting my hair she held up my hair in front and exposed how much she thought I wanted cut. Perfect. I've yet to have a stylist so focused on her craft, using gentle, precise cuts. After she was done cutting she asked if I wanted any product on my hair. What she used made my style look natural and great. When I got home my wife made me slowly turn around so she cut inspect the cut. I walked in to make an appointment as a new customer. As I was walking through the door there is a conversation going on with the hairdresser "Mitch" I believe, a nice lady and her daughter. For what I understood, he was 15 minutes late to greet them for their appointment. Then he says I do not have time for your color and cut. So the mom says, OK, please do my daughter's hair cut then, dry and style. He says "no I will only wash and cut". Very disappointed with the way they treated they turned away and left. Sadness in the little girls face. I couldn't believe what I saw. If it was me I would have given them hell! Advice for the owner: Watch your staff's time management and manners. read more

Update to the salon's response: There are numerous inaccuracies in this response, and it's hard to know where to start. To claim that I said, "I haven't had a haircut in two years" is completely false and I never made that statement. In fact, I had a haircut just a couple of months prior. This kind of fabrication only highlights the extent to which this salon is willing to go in order to avoid accountability. Contrary to what's being suggested, a refund was never offered at any point. When we asked Eli about the possibility of a refund and expressed our desire to resolve things amicably, he angrily made it clear that a refund was not an option. He even encouraged us to post the photos online, stating he was proud of his work. After the poor job he had already done, I didn't trust him to attempt to fix my hair and risk making it even worse. A quality haircut should not require extensive styling to look presentable, nor should it depend on camera angles to appear decent. The photo I shared was taken immediately after I returned home from the appointment. I am glad that if we can agree on anything, it's that the image clearly shows my hair looking bad and disheveled.
