Elevation Chop House and Sky Bar: Cool Concept, Average Execution For an early birthday celebration, I chose Elevation Chop House and Sky Bar, intrigued by the unique experience of dining at a small airport with views of the runways. And in that regard, it delivered--there's something undeniably fun about watching planes take off and land while you eat. The food itself, however, left me with mixed feelings. It wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't particularly memorable either. The line between freshly prepared dishes and prepackaged items was a bit blurred, and the overall execution felt uninspired. The plating, in particular, was disappointing--compartmentalized into little bowls with no effort to make the dishes visually appealing. It didn't feel like an afterthought so much as no thought at all. That said, the waitstaff was lovely--kind, attentive, and welcoming. The hospitality side of the experience was solid, even if the food presentation and overall culinary ambition fell flat. I see a lot of untapped potential in this place. With its unique location and concept, Elevation Chop House could elevate (pun intended) the dining experience to something truly special by focusing more on presentation and refining the food to match the setting. As it stands, it operates more like a casual chain restaurant--a simple, no-fuss style that doesn't quite live up to the unique environment. Would I go back? Probably, but with adjusted expectations. The draw here is the novelty of dining by the runway, not the food. Go for the view, enjoy the experience, and don't expect to be wowed by what's on your plate. But, that said, it is not bad, just not WOW.

$$-$$$ Great view of the Kennesaw Airstrip. We watched aircraft land during our visit to this upscale tavern. Drinks were well made by our mixologist at the upstairs bar. We had really good service and the nightly manager stopped by as well. With high ceilings and well lite area, conversation was easy and relaxed. A unique place to dine in Kennesaw GA. We had a ladies brunch to kick off the holiday season. The best part of this restaurant are the views of the tarmac with all the private planes coming in and out. The second best thing is the ambiance. Open, airy, and spacious inside. We started with a few of the appetizers. Fried shrimp with a remoulade sauce, sticky ribs and the spinach dip. We then moved on to entrees. There was French toast, brisket and eggs, the chopped steak, chicken club and the southern Benny. I'll speak for all of it as we shared plates. Portions were generous, food was tasty, everything came out in a timely fashion and was done as described on the menu. We tried three of the desserts, the cheesecake, brownie sundae and bread pudding which came with a creme brûlée sauce. They were all good with the bread pudding as the standout for everyone. Service was good. Our waiter was friendly and efficient. I would say that overall it was a good experience and worthy of a return visit. M

It was the day before Father's Day and busy. Mozzarella cheese was great, the Texas Chili not so much. I was disappointed when we arrived and found that the restaurant did not have an elevator or chair lift to allow for my husband and I to enjoy the second floor as I am handicapped. Overall the experience was unique and might try to go back when it has a less lively event.

Chophouse. Just the name alone should indicate something high end. Things at McCollum Airport. Walk into what looks to be an old restaurant. We were seated upstairs. The booths looked like they were hand me downs from a diner. Nothing gave me the feelies that this was high end except for the menu prices. While the server over shared her thoughts on everything imaginable she was very attentive. Ordered the steak pasta and a wedge salad. The highlight of the night was the house made ranch dressing on the wedge. The pasta was a basic Alfredo penne with sautéed onions and mushrooms and a skirt steak over top. Theatres was bland. The steak was decent. Others at the table ordered the salmon, the filet, and a burger. Food was mediocre. Ambiance was outdated, well used and uninspiring. Beer selection was dismal. Server was attentive but the over talking and over sharing was a bit much. Prices were high for the quality of food. A better name for the place would be "Airport Restaurant". Very "ish".

This would be a perfect place for larger groups such as family get togethers, celebrations, while still seating couples and others. And the portions versus the price point seemed very reasonable to me. They boast a Southern Coastal Cuisine so I went with the Fried Flounder Sandwich dressed in southern slaw and a side of tartar sauce. Served on a Niedlov's (Bakery in Chattanooga) grilled artisan hoagie bun. It was delicious. Crunchy crust and a tender moist fillet on the inside. And that Creamy Dreamy slaw was amazing. Their Fried Chicken Tacos is a must try too. Three hot chicken tenders in four tortillas, topped with corn salsa, cojita cheese, and jalapeño lime ranch. It was an Oh My Gosh experience. They have a very nice outside covered patio that's pet friendly and it all sits on a very large parcel with nice greenery and impressive landscaping. And it looks like they do a very brisk take out business too as I seen many orders being picked up. Awesome cocktails, attentive and responsive service all at a fair price. Definitely a place you want to check out.

The atmosphere isn't as stuffy or as formal like a steakhouse in the city (e.g., Buckhead), but it's still nice. Book your reservation using OpenTable and get dining points. There's a big dedicated parking lot around the building with plenty of free parking. No valet. We had a party of five and shared a lot of dishes. Here's what I had: Classic Cocktails * Dirty Martini ($15) - Hanson Original Vodka, Foro Dry Vermouth, olive juice, pimento olives Appetizers * Oysters on the Half Shell (12 for $33) - cocktail sauce and horseradish; James River, Virginia Sides * White Cheddar Mac & Cheese ($9) * Hawaiian Roasted Brussels Sprouts ($11) - with smoked bacon and Parmesan cheese Signature Cuts * Cherokee Western Luau (14 oz steak, $54) - ribeye marinated for 48 hours in pineapple, soy and ginger, "a Cherokee favorite;" 1855 Black Angus Beef from Grand Island, NE House Specials * Black Jack Salmon ($34) - wood-grilled and basted with Jack Daniel's glaze and served with crusted mashed potatoes and EVOO broccolini Desserts * Bananas Foster ($12) - flambeed tableside We also got cheese bread to start (bread with melted cheese on top, with a creamy white sauce). Everything was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed everything, starting with the martini, which was well-made. The oysters were big, fresh, and tasty. The Cherokee Western Luau was recommended to me by our server. He was so convincing that my friend changed his order to get a Western Luau too. It was fantastic, perfectly cooked to medium rare. The salmon was terrific as well, nicely cooked, tender, and flavorful (another excellent choice as well). The Bananas Foster wasn't flambeed tableside as described on the menu, so that was disappointing. However, it still tasted good. Our server was Cason B and he was great. He made an excellent recommendation on the Western Luau and was just a nice guy overall. The hostess was friendly too and helped us take a picture in the lobby. Cherokee Chophouse used to be Cherokee Cattle Company. After COVID, it reopened as Cherokee Chophouse in November 2022. It's part of the Marietta Diner and Marietta Fish Market family.

The ambiance is very classy--warm lighting, upscale decor, and a layout that invites you to relax and stay a while. They've got a great front porch setup for enjoying a smoke outdoors, plus a comfortable seating area inside and a well-designed bar that feels both elegant and approachable. I chose a Casa Fuente cigar, expertly recommended by Chris, the resident cigar sommelier. He knows the humidor inside and out. Paired it with a Maker's Mark Old Fashioned, crafted by Bezi, who was not only skilled but super friendly and welcoming. Talked sports with some locals--Tampa Bay teams, cigars, and whiskey. The crowd was relaxed and conversational, which made the experience even better. But the standout? The steak. I ordered the ribeye after my cigar, and it was incredible. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and served with crisp broccolini and parmesan-dusted house chips. Honestly, this meal would rival a dedicated steakhouse. Highlights: Elegant front porch for outdoor smoking Classy, cozy lounge and bar interior Outstanding cigar and drink selection Staff who truly know their craft (shoutout to Chris & Bezi) Full dinner menu--do not skip the ribeye Clean, well-ventilated, and welcoming If you're in the Kennesaw area and enjoy cigars, bourbon, and great conversation in a high-end setting--this is your spot.

(They have " hand cut" steaks. Before taking us to our table I was able to select my steak from their case. ) This place is loud. It's a roadhouse, so I suppose the noise goes with that atmosphere. Loud music, and loud people, plus the wait staff sing and do line dancing occasionally, which is just weird. The food was good. They brought out rolls that were great. We had an order of Rattlesnake bites for appetizers. (Jalapeño, no rattlesnakes were involved.) My steak was a little over the rare I ordered, but edible. I ordered chili as a side which was delicious. My second side was a baked sweet potato, which came with brown sugar and cinnamon. (That wasn't listed on the menu and I don't do cinnamon so had to ask for a replacement. - My bad.) My wife had the "Roadkill" chopped steak. She said it was tasty, but a little greasy. Excellent service like this immediately elevates a dining experience, and she made us feel well taken care of throughout the meal. The highlight of the night was undoubtedly the steak. We shared a massive 50-ounce ribeye, cooked beautifully and bursting with flavor. The meat was exceptionally tender, richly marbled, and perfectly prepared -- easily the kind of steak that justifies a visit on its own. Before the main course, we explored the sushi bar menu and ordered the crispy rice appetizer, which turned out to be one of the most memorable dishes of the evening. Tempura-fried sushi rice topped with spicy tuna, chili garlic, and a soy glaze created an incredible balance of texture and flavor -- crispy, spicy, savory, and slightly sweet all at once. It was a standout and a perfect example of the restaurant's successful fusion approach. The sides were solid complements to the meal. The fries were thick, plump, and pleasantly crunchy, while the sautéed onions were classic steakhouse fare done well. The bread service was another pleasant surprise, featuring soft, tender rolls alongside pão de queijo -- a delightful Brazilian touch that we did not expect but thoroughly enjoyed. For a two-person dinner -- including one appetizer, a large shared steak, two sides, and water (no alcohol or dessert) -- the total came to about $300 including a 20% tip. AG Steakhouse successfully blends classic steakhouse excellence with creative menu options that keep the experience interesting and memorable. We left impressed -- and already planning our return.
