Really sad to write this. We 100% got scammed. We had a leak in our roof. Erwin and his "business partner" came out to check out the leak and give us a quote to fix it. Said there were multiple cracked vents and some pipe boots that he would change. Charged us $1000 and did the work. A month or so later, our roof was still leaking. Fast forward a year and still with a leak, We just had an actual roofing company come out, and not only did they find the hole in our roof where the leak was ACTUALLY coming from, but he ACTUALLY changed out all the vents, pipe boots unlike what Erwin said he did. This could easily become the longest review ever so I'm going to try to keep it at a reasonable length, but no promises. Where do I even start? When this bathroom project completed I sent a couple pics to a bff in Arizona who said they were jealous of my bathroom, and I said strangely I was too! It hadn't sunk in yet this was my bathroom, it was surreal. I've been enjoying it for the last few weeks and sometimes it's still surreal. Our next door neighbor wanted to see and mi madre sent over some pics, she said it was every woman's dream bathroom. It's the nicest room in the house, and I'm still getting it organized and decorated but it's really perfect. I took bids from 16 different contracting companies before going with Erwin. I almost made the mistake of going with another company who was able to start a week sooner but something felt off and thankfully Erwin still had availability. I can confirm he is 100% worth the wait. The in person consult was efficient and thorough, and an itemized estimate came through pretty quickly. Erwin and Alex were wonderful to work with, very respectful, kept me informed through every stage of the process, and I had free rein to be as creative and specific as I wanted around the design and details. I spent an insane amount of time looking at paint swatches, countertops, cabinet hardware, mirrors, sconces, fixtures, bath tubs, tile, you name it (that was a personal choice). I decided to paint some of the bathroom hardware I was reusing copper, and unfortunately the weather got too cold for me to complete all pieces so I will finish in the spring, but they installed everything that I had completed before the cold weather delayed my little side quest. A friend of mine has color changing lights throughout their house and I decided to go with Wiz drop lights and bulbs in the sconces. Anytime I had questions on compatibility / feasibility, Erwin was happy to confirm if what I wanted could be integrated and how we could approach it. I really appreciate the care that went into protecting the surrounding areas during this project, they covered the floor from the front door to the bathroom to protect the flooring and also created a makeshift hallway / barrier between my bedroom and the master bathroom using plastic tarp and tension rods with clamps. This ensured dust and other particulates didn't spread into my bedroom. Every subcontractor that came through in this project was also courteous and punctual. Andre came in and did the tile for the floor and walls, this guy is an artist. He doesn't just open the boxes and starts throwing tile down, he looked at the panels and arranged them in a way to create an intentional design on the walls, making it look like a continuous marble piece similar to large marble slabs. The guy that came in to do the drywall (we went down to the studs to replace 1/4" drywall with 1/2" drywall for better results) was great too, I feel bad I don't remember his name. The previous owner made some weird design choices in this bathroom, including created a false wall / partition(?) that made the corner vanity smaller and awkward. There was a built in walk in tub I never used the entire time I was here. The pipes had rust and water would fill the tub with nasty water (this was a tub issue only) but I didn't like the walk in style anyway. The corner shower was a tiny circular shower with very little room. They were able to expand the corner shower out to a 44" x 36" shower with a wall that includes a niche. There's so much room in the shower now which is really nice. Changing out the tub to a floating / standing tub also opened up that side of the room. It looks great and the baths are heavenly. Removing the weird false wall-corner-thing meant we had more countertop space. Erwin also provided me with referrals for businesses he's worked with before when looking at cabinets, tile, and countertops. When the cabinets I picked came back over budget, he recommended another local business he worked with and we were able get cabinets I liked within budget. This bathroom is beautiful and most importantly it's functional for me now. I wanted a dark moody goth bathroom, like the "dark mode" version of my favorite bathrooms at Grand Hyatt in downtown Seattle, or the Paramount Hotel in Portland, now my favorite bathroom is mine. This is legit the goth/rave/spa bathroom to get ready in before going out, or to relax in if I'm staying home. :) I have a few friends who have had recent home projects in the last year and have had various headaches through their process. I have been very fortunate with how well everything came together and that comes down to working with the right team. We will be working with Erwin again when it's time to paint the house in the summer. Bottom line is if you have anything coming up where you need a contractor, this is your man. Elevated Building Design lives up to its name and is worth the wait. read more

We were very excited to work with Erwin. He did a great job on the referrals I initially gave him. It did not go well on a water damage claim. I did everything I could to make sure he had the tools he needed to do a quality job. While aesthetically it was done fairly well, HOWEVER in the end it went south. There was a leak (of all things) in one of the showers. His resolve was for the homeowners to pay for a $50 part. Turns out he did not use a licensed plumber and did the work himself. He could not connect the fixtures because he placed the connection too far in the wall. He proceeded to mod podge multiple connection together in an atttempt to make it work using silicone to connect. It failed and leaked on the back side of the tiled wall. Every attempt has been made to have him do the right thing. 4 plumbing quotes later and a discovery of the same mistake was made in the master shower. Both showers had to have new rough plumbing redone to accommodate a Delta trim kit(not the Amazon crap) $1200 EACH, drywall and tile repaired with a grand total of $7200 out of pocket. So much potential. The saddest part, they fought hard for him to be the one chosen to do the work. Insurance wanted another company. read more

Be very careful with using Erwin. He ghosted my son and his wife after his installation of plumbing(he is not a plumber)failed. They had to pay $7900 to fix his work. It was not covered by insurance because he is not a licensed plumber and used substandard fixtures (he claimed he used before with no issues). Just make sure you communicate what you want done and DO NOT use his recommendation on fixtures. I should have followed my gut for Delta. read more

Working with Erwin and team has been fantastic. They recently remodeled our entire upstairs for a fraction of the price that we got for the kitchen alone. Erwin talked us through the entire process, set proper expectations, and helped ensure that we got the best bang for our buck. One thing that was a HUGE plus is that he's not going to BS you and tell you that he can do something if he knows it's not in his wheelhouse. He's very open and honest which I appreciate. I recommend Elevated Building Design to everyone and we will continue to use this small business for our upcoming projects around our home! Based on a colleague's reference, we contacted Elevated Building Design for an onsite consultation on two bathroom remodeling projects - one minor and one major - we were considering. On meeting the owner, Erwin, we immediately saw a difference compared to others we had spoken to and knew we had found our person. He was enthusiastic and energetic about our projects, shared his initial thoughts, and explained his process. We agreed on the quoted costs and first tackled the smaller project, which came in on time and within budget. The larger was far more extensive... a complete gutting of the existing bathroom that required moving plumbing, adding electrical, and extensive tile work. Erwin was involved in every step of the process, and his subcontractors were professional, friendly, and highly skilled. A few surprises were discovered but were quickly remedied. That end result was beyond our expectations and has wowed everyone who has seen the new space. All along the way, Erwin's communication was top-notch, pricing was transparent and within budget, and any changes to timeline were communicated and limited.
