This review is for the dude with the face tats and nose ring. He does NOT know how to style hair period. Yea he can fade and cut the sides but don't expect him to know how to cut the top. My hair was cut super short and uneven af. When I went home it's too short to even cover up the sides that was completely missing a chunk. He was not focused the whole time during the cut yelling across the room and laughing. How about focusing on giving a first time customer a decent cut? Maybe I'll give dude more precise instructions but the job of a barber is to know HOW TO STYLE hair and this dude did not. My first time at this barbershop left me with one of the worst haircuts of my life. Eric is definitely NOT the barber you want when you come here. It was my first time so I decided to take it easy on the guy. I asked for a 3 Taper-fade to a 0 with an inch off the top and a line-up, but what he actually heard was "just fuck my shit up". I told him to take his time since I was in no rush and he somehow still messed my hair up. At the end of the cut I was left with various razor cuts all around my head, especially a huge one behind my left ear. The line-up he gave me wasn't even sharp but ROUNDED. He also left my left side of my head unsymmetrical to the right side, which is a pretty huge fuck-up. I'm not sure who let this guy pick up a pair of clippers, but he seriously need to reconsider his profession. I left,but came back because I didn't even realize how much of a shit job he did until I really looked at it. Luckily they gave me a full refund which was nice. Am I coming back here again? He asked me what I wanted and made the exact haircut I wanted and typically got in New Orleans come to life. It's really cool to watch a master of his craft at work. I've been going to the same place to get my haircut for the past 20 years. Change was scary but I just moved to the area and thought I'd try to place around the corner. Turns out the risk was worth the reward. I went to Eric and he gave me a great cut. The razor finish to clean up the edges was a little scary, and yeah you'll get cut... but that's the small price you pay for clean lines and a fresh cut. If you're like me and looking for a new place, definitely come here. I will be. I need to add: I was able to make an appointment a day or two before. Most places that require appointments ask for at least a week. Don't get upset about a wait when you know you'll be getting quality. Plan ahead. Edit: I no longer come here. I had an experience with the female hair cutter who works here. I attempted to book a walk-in or soonest available and I put in the comments "I'm usually with _______ but I'll take whoever is available!" And then she replied with an extreme rude text message, "I don't appreciate when people waste my time trying to book someone else. If you want them, don't do it through me." Im at a local shop. A lot less "cool" but I get a better cut (for cheaper too). read more

Mario is the best. He's super nice and accommodating and remembers what I ask for each month. I always come here with an appointment for him because he doesn't talk a lot and is great with hair. So for introverted people who just want to chill, relax, and stare at the tv for an hour--he's your guy! I hardly review things unless there's a reason so profound that I just HAVE to talk to about it. I've gotten haircuts here before and they're not bad, but it's definitely a bit more costly than I'm used to. Everyone is friendly enough to the point where you feel acknowledged until you realize that most of the people cutting hair have no idea which client is up next. There's no check-in or sign-in sheet (which I found odd considering they take appointments here) so it's really up to whoever is cutting hair to determine who is up next. I attempted to get a haircut today as a walk-in and figured out my place in line -- 2 folks ahead of me had appointments, 2 did not. They seemed fully staffed and equipped so I wasn't worried about wait times until I realized that I had been sitting for at about 45 minutes. One of the gents asked me if I was next. I replied, "yeah, but aren't there those two other guys there?" He said, "they're waiting for him" (the other barber) then proceeds to take the guy that came in 20 minutes after me! Everyone else at this point, including the guy who went up to the chair, was a walk-in. Complete waste of time that I would have preferred to use elsewhere. This wasn't the first instance where the waiting queue has had issues determining who was next. This was, for me, however, the last chance that I was willing to give here. TL;DR - They give okay cuts for the price, service is fine while in the chair, but waiting and queueing can be an issue. I never discourage people from trying places out unless they're absolutely piss poor, so give them a shot if you're thinking you're looking for a new shop in this area. Best of luck! read more

I've been here a few times now and never been a problem. Always been happy with my haircut. Looking through the negative reviews, it seems most people complain about the wait with walkins. Obviously as a business if you have appointments then you prioritize the appointments and walkins wait. If you don't want to wait then book an appointment. I always do and it's never been an issue. Also some other reviewer commented on them taking too long and talking to each other while they work. Yes they talk to each other. But the duration of the haircut is posted when you book online. It's not a surprise. If you don't want a 45 min haircut and you don't like to book appointments, then don't get a haircut here and don't complain about it. read more

I've been cut by two barbers here, Mario and E, both very cool guys. Everyone that works at Elevate has a great attitude and multiple interests beyond hairdressing. Regarding the haircuts: these guys can cut hair and will treat you like the boss. I have 360 waves, and I never have to worry about mistakes with my hairdo. Got a haircut with Brenda here recently and she definitely wasn't friendly at all or cut me the way I asked her to. I walked in and she was rude from the start, didn't talk or really seem too happy when I told her I wasn't sure how I wanted my hair cut. Worst experience I've had at a barbershop. You can tell this girl doesn't even want to be here, I should have known when she first answered the phone and scolded me saying they aren't taking any walk-ins and that it's appointment only but then proceeded to tell me to show up in the next 20 minutes? It would've taken me 20 minutes to get there as a walk-in anyways but whatever. Conclusion: Nice place but definitely won't be going back to Brenda IF I decide to go back. Smh read more

Gave this place 2 tries. Both failed my expectations. Not that the cut is bad for the price, it's just the experience. Here are my thoughts. 1. Profanity profanity profanity. The staff does not watch their language around customers. 2. Staff talks to each other all the time. Taking a few seconds to blur out profanity and random comments adds up real quick where you find yourself asking why am I sitting in this chair listening to nonsense. 3. Apt is more expensive than walk-ins. 4. No system in place for customers, just a gent in the front tell you to take a seat. Odd that they have an online apt system well put together but they don't take full advantage of it. If you enjoy all of that, go for it. It's a decent cut for the price. I've been trying to rock the prohibition style for a while but my old hair stylist couldn't quite get it right. It would come out more military flat top.
