The people seem nice but I brought my cousin here to cut his hair , a mid fade and a trim on the top . I'm not sure what the lady name is but she's dark and has long hair , she didn't cut my cousins hair correctly it was crooked on the sides and some parts of his hair on the side were longer than the front . Called at 1215 on a Wednesday. Barber said he had one client receiving a haircut. I said I would come at 1 (in 45 minutes). Barber said okay; nothing about a requirement to make an e-apoointment on his web site which clearly states: "Click the button to book an appointment or give Curtis a direct call . . . ." I arrived at 1250. Two customers were seated waiting. When the barber proceeded to seat one of them, I said I had an appointment for 1. "NO YOU DON'T" he roared. I reminded him that I had called 45 minutes before. "THAT'S NOT AN APPOINTMENT; YOU HAVE TO BOOK ON THE WEB" he roared again. Then he raged about how he's running a business and on and on in a fit of rage in front of other customers. I felt like I was in some weird kind of bizarre altered universe or dream like Bob Dylan's 115th. I did leave with my hat, but no haircut. read more

Once again, Jen did a great job! I LOVE my haircut. This is exactly what I asked for. She made me look goooooood! Lol! The vibe is so chill and quiet and I love it. I wish Jen worked at West End Barber on other days but she's only there on Sundays and they close the shop at 2pm so make sure to get there early morning. I just had my hair cut here for the second time now. I walked in around 10am on a Sunday and it was pretty packed in the front. I asked if they accepted walk-ins (yes) and about how long the wait would be. The lady (I believe this was Adela who cut my hair the first time) told me "if you want to go with her, she'll take you next." She gestured towards the back of the shop where a lady was about finished cutting another guy's hair. I sat down on a very comfy couch and a few minutes later it was my turn. I guess everyone at the front was waiting for Adela? Well they missed out! The lady's name is Jenny. She came to the States from Vietnam and her cutting skills rival any machismo barber you'll find out there. And only $25 plus tip?? Great deal, great conversations, and great service. West End? It is an awkward name for this establishment unless they were thinking the west portion of Alhambra. I have to say the barber that cut my hair was really nice. However, I don't think that half the people in there have their license to cut hair, because he obviously did not know how to cut my hair. When he finished cutting my hair, I was really bothered by how it turned out. A simple fade turned into a very not aesthetically pleasing haircut. There was really no wait because they have lots of people cutting hair, but they look quite amateurish. I don't think I would return here again because I wouldn't want them to butcher my hair again. read more

I am mixed, half black and white... For the longest time I have always gone to different types of barber shops. Either Hispanic or Black owned, not because of racial preference, but more really the style of the haircuts that both types of facilities offer. And of course I have very unique hair, not of the Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt Variety. My hair EVOLVES as it goes, it goes from short and straight, to mid length and wavy, to full on curly for anything past 3 inches of hair. And it takes a really special type of hair stylist to properly cut my hair. My head is not the perfect shape of a mannequin someone at supercuts has had endless practice. But that of someone with strong features, jack n the box dome syndrome. Anyway pointless explanation aside, the first trip there I asked for a low fade, I always ask for this and it turns into a high military fade because most barbers that I've gone to assume my hair grows in the same direction. So the right side always is cut perfect, the left side gets effed up and they spend the rest fo the time evening it out. I haven't experienced that issue with either visit here. The first haircut I got was EXACTLY what I wanted. I liked my experience so much I came back the next week, the same barber wasn't available so I had the nice little lady with glasses cut my hair. She went a little higher up, but it still came out great, I watched her cut quite a few peoples hair and she did an amazing job. Better than half of the male barbers I've ever seen cut hair, and that's saying a lot. I definitely will continue to give this place my business, it's down the street from me, it's a small family owned business, and it's quality work. What more could I ask for? read more

I was very nervous so I only made an appt for a simple wash and straightening, which came with a perfect price. Yanni was the stylist. 1. The wash: relaxing and came with a great massage! 2. The blow dry: she added a serum to my hair before blow drying, which i never do at home because the quality of straightening is reduced significantly. Perfect blow dry, my hair looked and felt amazing. 3. The straightening: never seen my hair that straight or look so healthy. she added another serum when she finished. 4. I love this barbershop, took me a while to find a reliable barber for my haircuts but once I came here, they got my business for good. My main barber here I go to is Anthony. If not him, then Edwin. Their chairs are located in the back of the shop and I like the area there. They got a sofa with a mounted tv. They put on some entertaining shows and movies you can watch while you get your cut or wait to be next. The reason why I choose Anthony though is because he gives probably the best fades I've gotten while coming to Alhambra. My haircut has always been a high fade with a lineup and let the top grow out. They also supply good hair products too such as Suavecito pomade and Johnny B gel, so if you like those products and wanna look fresh after your cut, they got you. Overall I definitely recommend this barbershop for all of the barbers here. They're a family and it gives you a sense of being a part of that family whenever you come.
