Called the salon to see if they were able to cut a rat tail style. They were able to cut both my toddler boys (ages 2 and 3.5 years old) last minute. My older son has a 0 fade and a start of a rat tail. My younger one has a fohawk, fade 1 with a rat tail. Looks really good and I will be returning! :) read more

Took my car to the dealer for routine maintenance and needed up going to this barber shop about a few blocks away. I walked and was immediately seated as there was no wait on a Friday afternoon. Such an incredible experience for both us and our 3yo getting his first real haircut! The staff was so beyond friendly, they made us feel like family. Our stylist was fantastic with our son, as well as patient. They also had lollipops as well as fruit snacks to keep him "still". Excellent location, prices, and service! Brought my son here back in July for a haircut. We were walk-ins and we attended after a few minutes. Everyone in the barbershop was nice and courteous. My son felt welcomed which is a big thumbs up for me. The quality of the hair cut was excellent, it was a typical Mohawk because my son loves crazy hair. Will definitely come back to maintain my son's hair style. The whole barbershop has the family feel to it which is very welcoming, so to me it's a big thumbs up. read more

I have been bringing my 5 year old here for months now. It's always hard to find a good barber and I'm so happy I found this place. Mario has been my go to for my son's cuts and he does a great job every time. I'm so sad I'll be moving away, but I highly recommend anyone around the area looking for a great barber that is good with kids. My son always says he doesn't need a haircut, but when I mention Mario and giving him lollipops after his cut, he agrees to go. Highly recommend this shop! read more

I took my son here for a haircut a few months ago. His barber did a great job and spent a lot of time on his hair. They even had gourmet donuts for customers to snack on. Everyone in the shop is super friendly and talkative. However, It's a bit expensive for me personally. $20 cash. I have 3 boys and they need haircuts quite often so it won't be my regular spot. We had no idea where to take my baby, 15 months, to get his first hair cut. They made us feel welcomed as soon as we walked in. My boy was crying Irene helped us trying to keep him calm. All while still cutting his hair. It was such a great first experience for us. read more

Getting a haircut during a pandemic might not seem like a priority but this mane was getting out of control! I called ahead to find their procedures for getting a haircut and they shared the safety protocols they were following -- outdoors (at the time), masks on, appointment only, etc. When I got there, I was greeted by all employees and was seated immediately. I believe it was Rick who cut my hair and he did a great job. I was now ready to look good on my all my zoom meetings with this fresh cut. I been going to MSB for almost 3 years now. I love it. You walk in and the team right away welcomes you. They offer you coffee and donuts if they have it. And while you either wait or get your cut, you become part of a conversation with everyone. I been getting cuts from Mario mostly, but the rest of the team have skills too. I miss my every 3 week visit since the "rona". I hope that the shop will be able to survive this pandemic. After finding out a barber I planned to frequent in Downey was fired, I was scrambling to find someone, someplace comparable...after reading many reviews on many barber shops I decided on Main Street Barbers, what a grand decision I made!! When I arrived I was planning on having Mario cut my hair as it seemed many of his customers were very satisfied; but due to rotations he set me up with Diane, a blessing in disguise! After having asked numerous questions to ensure I get the haircut "I" wanted, she did a brilliant job! She was very sweet, professional, kind and truth be told, "easy on the eyes!" She truly has a regular customer in me! Lastly, I want to mention how wonderful Irene (owner) was while I was there. She along with her husband (co-owner) and the rest of the crew made me feel very welcome, as if part of the family! Sharing with me the 30+ year history of their shop and such! This place is right off Main Street, in between some car dealerships. The interior has a chill, old school vibe and as soon as you walk in the door you feel like family. Mario, Dre, and Rick are all really friendly. The place is cash only but there's an ATM literally 2 stores down (5 second walk) at Eagles Nest. Great place overall. Be sure to come here to get cleaned up. read more

These guys are very precise... unlike modern barbers who kind of sculpt everything to look a certain way these guys are very efficient and clean. If you ask for two inches off the top they will give you a clean 2 off the top. So please know exactly what you want and you will come out happy. read more

I was looking for a new barber shop for my 10 year old son and so we went to visit Main Street Barbers for the 1st time. Once we walked in the door we were greeted by Mario. He was so kind and friendly and made us feel at home. He engaged us in conversation while we waited for my son's cut. We waited only a couple minutes. Danny cut my son's hair. He did a great job and he was quick. My son loved that it was so fast. I have 2 younger son's that are 2 years old and I brought them back to the barber shop this past Friday because we had such a great 1st experience. Again, we were greeted and helped right away. Mario and the team are amazing. One of my boys was crying the whole time they cut his hair and the staff was so caring and patient. Offered him candy, toys and words of encouragement. They definitely gained our business for all future cuts! They made a lifetime customer out of me and my boys. read more

Been going here for over three years and loved this place, but just received the worst haircut I've ever had. Make sure you're on your toes and paying attention to Mario the entire time you are there. I was looking at my phone while waiting for my turn and didn't realize that Mario's chair opened up. He took it as an insult and proceeded to aggressively cut the sides and fumbled with the top to make it look like he attempted the haircut I asked for. I got home and my wife looked at me like "wtf happened to your head". That kind of passive aggressive behavior is ridiculous and it's a shame because his mom owns the place and is the sweetest lady. Also looking at the reviews, I'm not the only one he decided to treat like this. Highly recommend this place but avoid Mario like the plague. read more

I stepped out to grab a jacket from my car while Mario was finishing up a customers haircut (which took me 2 minutes, as I was just parked on Curtis) because my back was hurting. He took this as if I was wasting his time since my turn was next, and that didn't sit well with me at ALL. I treated him with respect, and in no way wasted his time, so this is not acceptable. He even said "I have back problems too" with a condescending tone after I let him know that my back was the reason. I sat down to receive a very harsh and reckless haircut. I had run to the car NOT walked, out of consideration for his business. Only reason I'm giving it two stars is bc the atmosphere is cheerful and most of them in there seem like good people. However, Mario is an exception in my case. Do what you will with this information. read more

Gotta let you know that this barber shop rocks! Irene cut my hair and I absolutely loved it. I got great compliments from people and so I decided to bring my 2 year old son last week. Mario gave my boy a lollipop while he was getting his hair cut with Diane then while we were trying to entertain my son, we sang some nursery rhymes, guess what, the entire barber shop sang with us and that was something that I don't normally see in real life, only in the movies. I wish I had recorded it. It's nice to know that there are still real barbers out there who provides great service. Kudos to Main Street Barbers. read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would... I have been here three times now, I came off of Yelp myself as I was visiting the LA area from OC, and have twice waited well over a month to get a cut(which I usually do weekly) because I loved the cut I got here so much. Diane is great, very sweet, personable, and takes the time to be sure your hair looks perfect before you walk out. On my second visit, she was off so I sat in Dre's chair and was equally impressed by her work! The vibe is so family oriented, I could hang out in the shop and be completely comfortable. Feels like being at a back yard family function when your here. I just moved back to the area, I'm ready to get back on my weekly cut regimen, and won't even think about going anywhere else but here! Great Tradition of Service - My first haircut was given to me by Manny, he also gave my brother and my two sons their first as well... Always kind and patient with all the folks who sit down. Children often are not fancied by many male barbers, I can attest to that, but manny always has had a gentle hand. If a honest, straight-forward cut, in a pleasant environment, reasonably priced... I have been coming to Main Street Barbers since I moved to LA to attend CSULA 4 years ago. The barbershop were my first friends in the city and I go every couple weeks to get the custom cut and style that MARIO created for my new career. He is the only person who I have found that takes the time to study my head and hair to understand what can work and look best. Always great coffee, music, magazines and movies! Fun and unique conversations all for $15 before a proper tip. Incredible value and service, MARIO is the best period. read more

I came into Main Street Barbers just minutes after getting the worst haircut of my life at another spot a few blocks down their location. I met Diane, Mario, and Irene, and Diane is the one who cut my hair and fixed it to exactly how I wanted it. Not only was the haircut great, but the overall vibe and culture here was amazing. I know most of people may have a great haircut there but my experience wasn't happy at all. $15 sounds cheap however the owner's skill is very unprofessional, and now my hair is hell of messy. And they should spend more time on customer's hair not on the phone or chatting with other coworkers. read more

They go by appointments only which you can easily schedule through their website. Eden is very informative and accomadating. He always asks how I'd like my hair styled.
