My friend and I had a nice experience at this downtown DC restaurant for a quick lunch! Our server was nice--very funny and charming as well. The interior of the restaurant is very spacious and certainly has a British pub feel which is very cool. We began with the butter chicken poutine. I love Poutine and i love butter chicken, so this was a heavenly combination. Unfortunately, the chicken wasn't quite tender enough, and the whole thing could have use some extra flavoring and crunch to really elevate it. The fish and chips were very tasty! It's hard to mess up fish and chips, but I did really enjoy these. I liked the wee pie flight too! We went twice because the food is great, it's in a convenient location with outdoor seating, and has lots of drinks to choose from. However on both occasions, there was not enough staffing and we didn't order more drinks or food because it took too long for servers to return. This is a British pub and grill chain. I ordered the buffalo wings, they were a little dry not much sauce. But the dipping ranch did actually taste freshly made. Side salad was ok, not amazing but not terrible. The waitress recommended the fish and chips so I had that and substituted the regular fries for sweet potato fries. The fish was fresh and the batter crispy fried. They do have about 20 different beers on tap so if that's your thing they have quite the selection. read more

Evening manager is extremely rude. If you come in an hour and 3 minutes prior to closing, he will tell you multiple times, as if you cannot speak the English language, that you can only order one drink. He will then loudly tell his bartender to get everyone out as soon as possible. ETA drinks were actually not that good for my companions. read more

This is defiantly one of those Your Milage May Very places. For me, on the plus side, we had a great server and the food was very good (mini pot pies). On the downside some of the best British beer was not in stock (I can find Smithwicks in Iowa for pete sake, but it was out here). The bread pudding gets a 3.5. Needs to soak in some whisky or bourbon. If you want to take a flier, give it a shot. read more

My siblings are I have a tradition of coming here before a show at the Warner. I showed up tonight and I was asking the bar staff for 30 minutes which tv the Capitals would be on. Game three of the playoffs. No one would give me an answer. It was not super busy and it was a simple question. As the puck was about to drop I was told they would not put the game on any of their tvs. Why keep me waiting that long? It's the Playoffs! It's DC! The arena is a few blocks away. There was a mix up when the food was brought out so the wrong dish was given to the wrong person (poutine vs regular fries). They were quick to bring out a new order of poutine and a new order of regular fries despite it being partly our fault for being silly and not noticing so people could just swap plates. Coleslaw needs seasoning, though. Kiddos had chicken tenders and the interesting hot dog situation! They loved their dishes. This was a really tasty spot for lunch convenient to the Mall and the Smithsonian (where we had just come from). I couldn't resist the steak and mushroom pie even though i feared it might be heavy for lunch; the crust was actually very flaky, not stodgy, and the filling was delicious! I was tempted by the adorably-named Wee Pie Flight of 4 savoury pies but ultimately chose this one and I'm glad I did. My companions enjoyed their lunches of bangers and mash and chicken tenders. There was a bit of confusion with getting receipts (we needed separate checks and the tableside card reader was doing its own thing) but our tenacious waiter Trey persevered and got it figured out. Wanted to try this place because I was looking for some good English ale or bitter on draft. We arrived about 745 on a Monday evening, so the place wasn't busy and we didn't have to wait for a table. Dominque, our waiter, was friendly and attentive. Sadly, the bitter was tapped out, but the Fuller's London Pride ale was just like I remembered from across the pond. Wife had the Guinness espresso martini, which was excellent, and my nephew enjoyed his penicillin. Wife had the Fish & Chips. The fish was just like the chipper in Bury St Edmunds, but frankly, the chips were better seasoned. Nephew enjoyed his Wee Pie Flight and I had the steak and mushroom pie, which was also properly seasoned. I opted for their shepherds pie amongst a selection of pies including steak and chicken. The shepherds included ground beef and lamb with garlic mashed potatoes and (chips) French fries. The meal was served quickly in a nice skillet and topped with fried onions. The portion was substantially massive despite appearing a bit small. I've been coming here for Real Madrid games the past few years so my experience might be different than some others. Always easy to stand around or find a spot against the bar. As patrons were coming through the door they were not warned and made aware of the spill the staff didn't care one bit if anyone stepped in it. To clean it up they just poured water in it then mopped it up with a dry mop no cleaning solution making it stinky and sticky. When we left we had to walk through it making our shoes sticky.. I had the worst experience at this place, I came to DC as a first time and just wanted to try some good food. After walking a little bit this place seems very interesting to try, I got the Cajun Caesar wrap and it was absolutely revolting, the chicken was dry and there was nothing evident that was said to be on the Caesar wrap. The customer service was absolutely horrible our server was disrespectful, unorganized, and she verbally attacked me and my party. Each of us still gave her a tip but when one of my party signally forgot after she almost got a $40 tip she came outside essentially chased us down and said that that's not how we treat workers in the industry.
