Everything from Edinburgh Rock & Bon Bon's to sour pineapples & foam strawberries. I could have spent ages looking around this shop. For someone who can't remember a lot of these sweets it was really nice to see all of them together in one shop. The ice cream counter looked fantastic and had I not forgotten to take money out and hadn't a clue where a cash machine was, I would have came out of here with a very big smile on my face and a very large dent in my wallet.

Bains sweet shop isn't expensive and the owner John is such a lovely man, he is so charismatic, passionate and takes the time to chat and pass on his knowledge of making Tablet. He even went the extra mile and sent me the recipe which is amazing! I plan to make it with my niece and hope it turns out half as good as Bains tablet. The kids love it, I love it and I will be stocking up on treats for xmas or buying gift vouchers for a later date. I highly recommend visiting and don't worry if you can't get to the shop you can always order online and buy some of those old favourites from your childhood as a gift for yourself or for someone else you know who has a sweet tooth. She was able to match people with their local sweets and talk a lot about the changes sweets have gone through over the years (no more cocaine on our sweeties!!). Unfortunately the staff were very rude and a member of staff said to another girl E***e make sure you are facing pointing back and forth at us, she replied with OH. I walked walked out after alerting my friend to what was said. the girl with dark hair shouts out the door bye and thanks. Not a nice way to treat customers especially visitors to the town. Some staff training would probably benefit the employees. I myself have worked in retail and my friend works in security so somehow I don't think we are going to steal. Will never visit again and will make friends and family aware of the poor customer service received

With the same garish exterior that most of these places have, the sweetie shop has much more in substance than any of its competitors i have ventured, pocket money in hand into. With a whole wall and i mean a whole wall, devoted to jars of loose sweets, this place is a total dream. There is enough sugar in this shop to sweeten an ocean. In addition to the loose sweets there is also the usual assortment of ice cream, choc bars, crisps and the like. A place that is well worth the visit, just don't tell your dentist!!
