Looking at the daunting price of some of the high quality chocolate bars available in this dainty little shop I used my Yelping skills to bag a few samples. Trying a sea-salted caramel and pine nut flavoured chocolate followed by a white chocolate and raspberry combination, I was convincingly persuaded that such chocolate delights are worth every penny. Avoiding the use of cheap fatty vegetable oils and only sourcing the best ingredients (as the enthusiastic and informative lady behind the counter explained) produces chocolate a class apart from the mainstream brands. I would limit Coco of Bruntsfield's offerings to an impressive gift and not as a place to spend your pocket money each day. But if you like chocolate you may well be tempted time and time again.

Chocolate is my drug of choice and Coco delivers consistently divine high cocoa content confections that also make a lovely gift.

Lickety Splits definitely has a lot more character than most and if it's wedding favours, gifts, childrens party bags or just some sweets for yourself you don't have to look any further. It's a really nice idea for wedding favours and all you need to do is choose what kind of sweets it is you're after and Lickety Splits will gift wrap everything into little favours, very cute. The decor is gorgeous with wooden flooring, quirky tables and polka dot patterns, it's very bright and airy and all the sweets are organised in glass tubs on fresh white painted shelves. My favourite sweeties have to be the little chocolate cups they're so addictive and moreish. I only found out about this place last week but I think I'll be popping in quite a bit now I know it's there, I could go for some fried eggs just now actually.

The lady in the shop was very knowledgable about her stock. She was able to match people with their local sweets and talk a lot about the changes sweets have gone through over the years (no more cocaine on our sweeties!!). The gallery/gift shop area was a nice little browse too. The shop is very small so our group of 10 was a bit squashed when some other shoppers arrived. The shop is dog friendly and had some water and food outside for any visiting pooches!

This place puts all the over priced cutesy sweetie shops in Glasgow to shame , hang thy head in…read moreshame t'other places, bow and behold the true king/queen of the Glasgow sweetie shops. With the same garish exterior that most of these places have, the sweetie shop has much more in substance than any of its competitors i have ventured, pocket money in hand into. With a whole wall and i mean a whole wall, devoted to jars of loose sweets, this place is a total dream. There is enough sugar in this shop to sweeten an ocean. In addition to the loose sweets there is also the usual assortment of ice cream, choc bars, crisps and the like. A place that is well worth the visit, just don't tell your dentist!!

Better priced than the establishments of this kind in the city centre and with just the same selection, you will leave with an ice cream in one paw, a mix-up of candy crayons and strawberries in the other and chocolate smeared over your face. It will make you feel like a kid who, well, had just been inside a candy shop. And how can that be a bad thing? It is ADHD enducing, but an altogether enjoyable experience. After all, it's tedious to forever be watching those E-numbers.
