This is a must for chocolate lovers when coming to Edi! It is true that it is tiny place, therefore there might be a struggle to sit down. However, if you will be lucky enough without booking in advance, you will be rewarded with the wide choice of hot chocolates ... I just wanted to try them all! The cakes were also lovely... It did reminded me a bit of movie Chocolat... And I would be probably the guy eating in the window until he fell unconscious! Service + chocolate - great Space - on the small side But for me on this occasion it was 5*

Be warned, it is busy so its worth booking to experience its small but perfectly formed chocolatey goodness. The Chocolate Tree had been on my radar for ages but the fact that it is always very busy meant that it took ages before testing it out. I did book (even at 5pm on a Sunday) but it was worth it. Artisan Roast coffee, lux hot chocolates and a fab cake range to suit all tastes, there is genuinely something for everyone. Being GF, there are tons of choices and also dairy free and vegan options too. Cakes range from chocolate truffle cakes, tarts, sponge cakes, carrot cake and cheesecake. So much choice which is fabulous!! I tried the raspberry sponge cake and had a white hot chocolate as I felt chocolate on chocolate would be too rich. Both were fantastic - my white chocolate was actually in a huge mug, just the right level of sweetness and my raspberry sponge was lovely and light. Service was friendly but myself and Tanja were left in peace to chat which was great. I was less than £7 for a huge hot chocolate (top quality) and a decent wedge of cake. Not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive so I'll definitely be back :-)

Churros and Hot Chocolates on a Rainy day.

Let's start with the chocolate. Very rich with a variety of unique and innovative flavours from floral or fruity, to alcoholic, to latin spiced. Moral of the story, I came to chocolate tree expecting quality chocolate and I was not disappointed. The game changer for me, however, were those churros! How they can make them so delicate and light - with that perfect balance of cinnamon and sugar - is beyond me. Whatever they are doing, they should keep it up because despite living across the border from Mexico, the best churros I have ever had in my life was at Chocolate Tree.

I've been going to the Chocolate tree for years, but haven't been in a while thanks to not living in Edinburgh anymore. Oh how I've missed it! There have been a few chances. They have even less seating now than they did before, which was never very much. But the place does have a lot more of a chilled vibe now. Their selection of coffees, teas and specifically hot chocolates is impressive. I usually go for the dark, syrupy spanish chocolate as it comes with hot churros but I decided to try a Hot Chocolate Chai as it came recommended. I can't go to the chocolate tree and not sample a selection of chocolates! We managed to get a table, now the only table in the front of the shop and our order came promptly. It was the BEST hot chocolate I have ever had. Divine chocolate, milky, with subtle notes of chai spices. Amazing. We got a few of the old favourite, Salted Caramel with Milk Chocolate, then tried some variations, I got the Honey and Thyme, and my partner got a Cinnamon truffle type. Exquisite. Seating was fine as it was a Monday afternoon, but don't expect to be able to sit in. Also, if you're looking for fancy stocking fillers, pay them a visit for sure!

I love the Chocolate Tree and it's huge list of hot chocolates and it has churros!! :) What more could you want. I hadn't had churros since I lived in America over ten years ago so I was ecstatic to hear the Chocolate Tree do them, and I've now tried them twice and they are gooooood with really intense chocolate to dip them into. I also tried macaroons for the first time which I thought were great, but I haven't tried them anywhere else to be able to compare them. I've only been a few times, but everytime I've enjoyed it. I live quite close so I need to resist the temptation to go in regularly, and I try to forget they do take away as I'll end up spending a fortune. I wish it had more seats but then I also like the intimate atmosphere of the place. Staff always seem friendly which is important too!

Chocolate Tree is dangerous. Dangerous to anyone who wishes to maintain a nice, slender figure! My friend and I stopped in here for some dessert and I'm pretty sure I gained some extra pounds. We both ordered chocolate cake but two slightly different versions. It was really delicious, but a little expensive. There was so many different cakes and treats that it took me forever to choose and I will probably be back to sample more. This cafe is always packed as well, so it isn't great for a quiet sit down. I agree with Fiona, the staff are a little stuffy and clearly know they have a good thing going. Cheer up guys, don't drive your customers away with your poor attitudes!

Yummy hazelnut hot coco and delicious macrons !
Alisa R.

I had a yummy hazelnut soy hot coco. The hazelnut dominated the drink but it was still lovely. And the macrons! O sooo wonderful! I had a camel and apple one ( seasonal!) . Such a lovely chocolate shop and cafe! Expensive but well worth a treat now and then ;)

Ahhh my new love. I love love love Coco chocolate!…read more If you're around the area its well worth stopping by to try the free samples. There is a large variety of chocolate on their shelves, each bar lovingly made and with such creative flavours it'll be hard to choose just one. Highly recommended- lavender chocolate. And their chocolate almonds are pretty fantastic too. I will say it's quite pricey but it's worth it. There are also truffles available as well as stunning gift boxes that make a great gift idea (this was my Valentine's day gift. Loved it!) It's a very small space with a few seats. My reccomendation would be to buy 3 bars for £12, go home, and prepare to have your mind blown by the sheer awesomeness that it Coco chocolate. Or give it away as a gift or share it or something.

Yyyyyyyaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!…read more *runs around house in delight* I was so darn excited when I noticed this little shop had opened, that I nearly dragged a visiting family member into traffic just to peer through the window. One quick little search will prove: I really really like Coco. In fact, I quite recently wrote about the Bruntsfield location and true to form, this little Stockbridge spots lives up to the artisan reputation. So why did this little place get the coveted five stars over Bruntsfield's four? Because it's LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE! Wheeee!! Pre-warning: it is tiny. I wouldn't plan to stay here for a beverage, though Caz is right and they have a chair or two in the window. However, if you have more than two people in the shop, you'd be near elbow to elbow, so I don't see it being a relaxing coffee stop any time soon. BUT they've got a beautiful wall of chocolate bars with every flavour under the sun, a small glass shelved collection of their infamous hand painted chocolates and informal bags of squares, nut clusters, etc, perfect for grey Mondays or "get me through this week" Wednesday afternoons. Between this and Patisserie Madeleine across the road, I see a new waistline in my future...

Oh Edward & Irwyn, how I love your chocolate…read more And you know, not only is it incredibly good but it's *interesting* - they experiment with some great flavours and end up with unique products which pack a punch. One of my favourites are the (salted?) caramel filled mountains with white chocolate and jasmine snow capped peaks. I mean whuuuuuuuuut. I thought the jasmine would be weird but it's actually gorgeous and fruity and totally jasmine but not at all at the same time. Also in love with the green mandarin, beetroot and ??? something which is escaping me. The green mandarin flavour is out of this world. UGH. And let's get to the hot chocolate. The chili, vanilla and tonka bean. Oh my goodness. Heaven. They used to just make for wholesale but started opening up the kitchen directly on weekends leading up to major chocolate events (like Easter when they make the most kicking DRAGON Easter eggs), that then led onto being open the first Saturday of each month and now they're every (though maybe most would be a better description as they'll take off the occasional weekend I'm sure) Saturday 12-3. Really lovely people with fabulous and inventive taste in chocolates. Yum and yum.

The chocolate is delicious - but when is chocolate not delicious - and the price is a little steep but totally worth it. Word of warning, this is not the place you should go daily to get your 'fix' (I hear ya) as it is proper chocolate, very rich and very intense. They do really great hot chocolates and experiment with different flavours, but if you want to sit down then bring your own seat, It is a shame that the second chocolatier over-shadows Coco, as it tastes just as good! Unfortunately it comes down to the small things - seats! And to be honest the shop was quite cold! But that's just being picky.

I would love to get chocolate from there all the time... but it was just a wee bit too expensive for me. I know one shouldn't put a cap price on hand made chocolates, but I do ..
