There are success stories hung all around the walls, colorful plastic chairs, and a small screen that information is projected onto. There are plenty of private rooms for what I'd imagine to be counseling. One thing I really didn't like is the high ceilings. I was in a workshop of about 90 people and every whisper could be heard at any given time. This was really distracting. The SFMOH workshop that was held here was very interesting and enlightening. It was worth the $30. Can't wait to utilize that certificate in future housing plans! Pro tip: Plenty of residential parking.

I became aware of the Level Playing Field a several months ago and the varied stores of the IDEAL…read morescholars are humbling. The consistent thread among their stories is the commitment and hard work of each student to excel despite the lack of resources available to them, resources that most of us take for granted. I became a mentor for an IDEAL scholar at UC Berkeley. She is smart, funny, artistic and inspiring - she is excited about life and a joy to know . She cares intensely about her community and helping others. I gain energy from talking with her each time we get together. I am impressed by the number of scholars from this program that after graduating from college, continue to graduate or professional school as well as provide help and support to newer scholars. I think this speaks well of the program and the quality and commitment of the scholars selected to participate. I understand that 100% of the administrative costs of LPFI are covered by donations from an "angel", so that 100% of my donations directly support scholars with books, laptops, scholarships, and all the various things that are needed to make it through college today. I can see how we will all benefit from the work that the IDEAL scholars will provide to our society - we will miss a great deal in the future if these students do not have a chance to fulfill their potential. I can only hope that this program will be expanded so that many more young people can benefit from the education and support supplied by the Level Playing Field. What a fine world that would be!

I can tell you that SMASH was second only to parents in being a positive and powerful force in my mentee's life. He wrote multi college essays on his experiences at SMASH and references his learning there in guiding his choice to become a high school math teacher when he graduates. The LPFI organization is full of people that DO with authenticity, capability, and deliver results. Take every opportunity you can to fund them, work with them, and learn with them.

My initial reaction to this group was nothing sort of amazing. They provided me with essential…read moreitems I needed when I was living in near third world poverty. They have a plethora of items and services they offer and were for the most part friendly. Things started going sour once I asked for assistance with housing. The cost of living in San Francisco is astronomically expensive that is no secret and allegedly there are outreach groups that can lighten the burden at least temporarily in The City albeit I have yet to find one. Fact of the matter is if you're not in very specific social circles housing assistance is firmly off limits for San Francisco citizens I have come to find out. After being told politely there was nothing that can be done about placement in long term sustainable housing the conversation for me ended. Towards the end of last year I did attempt to get back in contact with the general inquiry form via the website asking for a voucher for a haircut (which they offer). This was after attempting to catch one of the satellite sites they allegedly have set up around the city on various days and no one being at the location during the timeframe they specified. No worries come to the actual brick and mortar location and we can get you a voucher right away. Once there I did receive the voucher but I also asked for a sleeping bag (again another item they allegedly offer) since the place I was staying at the time was so cold I swore I saw a few penguins running around one night. The woman literally laughed in my face and said I couldn't have one. Huge red flag that I ignored but I politely thanked her and left. The voucher itself is only valid at certain locations for the hair cut so I went to the salon and tried to introduce myself to the woman there. The woman proceeded to pointedly ignore me and project a very dismissive attitude towards me. Nothing was said I simply walked out and have not returned since. Overall this place is now NOT a great place to go if you're of African decent. Period point blank if you want something good done do it yourself. "Free does not mean good" and it really rings true for here. I am not sure if its the moral high ground of knowing that the people you're assisting are obviously at a much lower point then you are which in turn makes the workers feel as if they're above you. However save yourself the shame and disappointment and simply avoid. Its not worth it if you're already in a shaky place in your life to have this weighing on your conscience. As you can see from my other reviews I have not had the most pleasant experiences lately in The Bay Area...However! I write these reviews based on my experience so that others will benefit from the experiences that I have. But always do your own research!

I met Tiffany on my search for a photographer to take photos for my fashion blog. After talking to Tiffany a few times via phone and text message, we finally got a time and date set to take pictures. When I arrived and met TR Proz, I was so happy we were working together. Tiffany was very opened with what I wanted on my blog. She took me to Merrit Lake in Oakland to take photos. The day we took photos was beautiful outside. There were several people walking around, probably hundreds. However, in the pictures you can't see one person. That really amazed me. During the photo shoot I had several outfit changes. Tiffany was patient and helped me out with my accessories and matching the perfect shoes. We spent about two hours taking pictures. She got some amazing shots. She was creative in her positioning of the pictures and certain angles. The shoot ended and she said that she'd get back to as soon as possible with proofs. A few days later she sent me several pictures from the shoot. They were great! She did such a great job with the photos and the editing. My family and friends saw the pictures and they loved them. I'm looking forward to working the TR Proz again. I'd highly recommend!

Now here comes the bad part. About a year ago they changed the location!! To the Oakland Zoo... At first I thought wow! that is going to be so much fun! EHHHH. BOY WAS I WRONG! I went last year and the walk was 1/2 A MILE!!! SERIOUSLY?! that is not a walk... AND, you have to AT LEAST raise $100 in order to walk in it....and for that $100 you get a crappy sandwich and a t shirt... wow. but the sandwich and tshirt i dont really care about..I care about having fun and raising awareness. It's like they're scrapbooking at the same time, putting all of their photobooth pictures, little cute scrapbook stickers, and little messages to the bride and groom. Every time I flip through my photobook, it makes us so happy remembering our wedding day. And with the Designer package, we got all this and an online gallery! There are some photobooths out there that feel cheap with lame props and ugly backdrops. Everything that Hello PhotoMo uses is high quality, and you can tell from the experience you have! Not only high quality - Hello PhotoMo makes sure everything is personalized and everything you want.
